This a horrific takedown of Buck by a very stoned Artie Lange. I think Buck is a top broadcaster but he fails to wrap it in humility like Jim Nantz does.

Regardless, I don't approve of what Artie did…..but it was epic:

That show is 13 years old. Joe Buck has changed quite a bit since then.

(Also, Artie was really drugged out at this point in his life and was fired from the Howard Stern Show months later.)

If I had to guess, it was this Lange bit that convinced Joe Buck he needed to lighten up a bit.

Extremely hard to beat a team in the playoffs when the other team isn't in the playoffs. AR has never beaten the Lions in the playoffs either.

Yes, but the Niners played AR's Packers three of those four years they made the playoffs and beat them every time.

Fair enough, but the author's choice of words just makes it seem like it's a noteworthy string of futility (like we had with SC for a while). AR is 6-6 lifetime versus the Niners, with three of those L's coming in the playoffs. AR has to win another SB against any team to shore up his legacy -- nothing short of that. Records against individual teams are secondary and not part of the legacy we know he cares about. It's been a long, long time since he cared about the Niners.

Overheard on the street: she's probably qualified to compete for the US in equestrian. Extremely rude thing to say, but it was said by someone other than myself, potentially.

Hope he's too quirky to land a head coaching gig so he can just be with the Niners and Shanahan forever and find happiness in the Bay Area. Though I'm sure he can play the role and be at least as normal as Belichick (in today's interview he said the Niner pr people, upon getting here, just told him to be himself, which he appreciated). Doesn't seem like his salary is publicly available, but whatever it is make that number bigger right now.

Bearister, please keep it respectful -- only wives of coaches and announcers who are still in the playoffs.

McVay hasn't married his girlfriend after 11(!) years. I predict they'll never get married and he'll dump her for somebody more "age appropriate" for him -- somebody who's at least a decade to a decade and a half younger.

McVay: 35
Girlfriend: 31

11 years is a long time, BUT they did get engaged "June 22, 2019 while vacationing in Cannes, France" so I think odds are they get married. Also, BI is the new US Weekly and Victoria's Secret catalog.

AR is definitely still in the dog house for many on here, but I know the door is opening a crack.

You have started a text to him. He sees the bubbles on his iphone and knows you're typing. But then you delete your text. And he's like: okay, though, and goes to the fridge to drink some kombucha straight from the jar.

Let's appreciate the greatness. Let's bask in the reverence shown in the words of coaches and analysts. It's the final chapter. You could live to be 120 and will never see a greater NFL player come out of Cal. Boy can play the game. Enjoy it.

Which of those three would you least like to win the SB this year? Trying to understand the depths of your dislike of a certain alum.

I don't want Sean McVay to win this year. Other than that, I really don't care. I'm more a fan of the game this year. And I kind of was last year since I wanted Goff to beat Rodgers and I wasn't as disappointed in Rodgers losing in the playoffs as I was in previous years. If Rodgers wins, then good for him. I'm not rooting against him (although I haven't read the new ESPN story on him).

We are very different in this regard. Especially because I want to avoid a cringeworthy comment from him, I have zero interest in what he has to say in this article. I would have read it last year. This year I just want to see him ball out and the Niners win.
