^ no conflicts with berkeley final examinations, the full utilization of all 15 ncca allowed bowl game practices & a reasonably close drive/flights for cal's large contingent (and growing) bearents & families in texas

it's great!!!#

My order of priorities for which bowl game Cal should lobby for:

1) Utilize the full 15 NCAA allowable practices to maximize reps for our team, especially the younger players.

2) Fewer conflicts with final exams for our student athletes.

3) There is no #3, since the first 2 are the dominant priorities

4) Interesting bowl location for fans, factoring in ease of travel and recruiting visibility considerations

5) Opponent. Prefer beatable P5 school but don't really care that much. Prefer for our opponent not to have a significant home field advantage.

Really, I care a lot more about developing our players for next year than I do about which exact bowl game we play in this year. Hopefully this will be the least prestigious bowl we attend for a while as we enter a multi-year climb back to national prominence. This is my goal, not necessarily an expectation yet.

So I favor bowls NOT on Dec 16th so we can maximize the practice time allowed. First Responder Bowl would be fine, or any other bowl that is comfortably into December to maximize practice time and allow players to focus on academics during finals week 12/10 thru 12/15.

I'm psyched that I get to see this team play one more time, but I'm all business about developing our players and improving to a higher level.

Do others have a different perspective on this?

cal's monster class MAJOR exclusive announcement:

outside linebacker david reese is arguably the most destructive apex predator edge defender in the nation during the last 3 games

david earned a degree in education sciences from florida in the spring of 2022 & is currently enrolled in the grad cert program in berkeley

due to past past injuries, there are discussions right now with the staff to potentially petition the ncca for a 7th year of eligibility after the bowl game

if this legit petition is approved by the ncca, this literally changes the entire dynamics of the 2024 california golden bear defense particularly the acc road game at florida state

dude can also orchestrate the band, he got musical skillz & good hair

cal's monster class recruiting update: keaton thomas

the nation's #3 rated juco linebacker 6'2" 230 lbs keaton thomas from northeast mississippi community college is gonna take an official visit to cal on the weekend of december 2nd

keaton is a native of jacksonville, florida & prepped at trinity christian...he got 3 years to play 3 seasons & is a december grad

thomas got sideline to sideline footspeed & made 107 tackles this season including 10 for losses along with 2 interceptions

it would make sense for keaton to be hosted by fellow floridian david reese when he trips to the left coast

Wow. I didn't realize even Wilcox may hate Knowlton. This video needs to be shown to Christ and all the folks being considered to take her place. This guy has a huge role in Cal's scope, so does Wilcox. The fact that Wilcox avoids him after the biggest win of the year means either Knowlton goes or Wilcox goes.

reality is that this video is kinda like the zapruder film, it tells u everything u gotta know about the athletic director...kinda wondering if alky still thinks he got insiders who know more about the 2024 schedule & the 4th occ opponent (knowlton got the oregon state contract still unsigned sitting on his desk) than the monster

My thoughts:

1. I'm not on board with us **needing** to schedule an easy win. The ACC schedule is much softer than what we've had and we should regularly be bowl eligible in that conference. UC Davis, @Auburn, SDSU, Miami, NC State, Stanford, Syracuse, @FSU, @Pitt, @SMU, @Wake Forest (with one more TBD) isn't exactly a gauntlet for next year. 7-10 wins seems likely

2. OSU and WSU make sense from a recruiting perspective since we regularly recruit in Washington and need to keep a PNW presence by having a game there at least every couple years (and **** nikeU and UW)

3. OSU was better than us this year but it'll be very unlikely that moving forward either school is a serious threat since they'll have transfers out they won't be able to easily replace, their recruiting will take a big hit, and OSU is losing most of its coaching staff

4. This game is effectively replacing what was our 9th conference game. If you had to pick any team (not already on our schedule) from the old PAC these would be among the easiest games aside from ASU and Colorado

I think of it as adding a lower-ranked conference matchup or higher-end noncon cupcake. We don't need to add an A team since SOS isn't important for us as non-CFP contenders so adding a B-/C+ team is fine and it would be nice to keep a familiar historic opponent on the schedule since we'll have almost none of those moving forward and should never play UC Los Angeles, Southern Cal, nikeU, or UW again for being backstabbing dickbags unless it's in a re-formed PAC
1) 7 to 10 wins. Sure, done deal. Have you been following this program?

2) You can't be serious? What makes sense from a recruiting standpoint is playing Udub. Or in SoCal where Cal gets its largest number of recruits. You do realize mule deer outnumber people in the Palouse? Exactly how many players has Cal recruited on the present team from the greater Corvallis area?

3) So what does playing Oregon State get us? Sounds like going to a crappy location to play a weakened team, which provides now real upside.

4) Cal will be an ACC team. Suggest you focus on ACC schedules or better yet, look at the schedule design of the most successful football conference, the SEC.

This just sounds to me like arguing because you are mad about what happened to OSU/WSU. Let UCLA or USC play them.
nearly clad, just to pile on ur dumb as rocks scheduling thoughts:

1) do u actually go to cal football games?...do u realize how challenging it is particularly on the road to win collegiate football games...are u aware that oregon state has beaten cal 3 of the last 4 years?

2) oregon is not a fertile recruiting ground for high school football, nobody every confused it with texas, ok?...are u aware that in the 2024 cal commitment class there r zero players from the land of voo doo donuts?...why r u making up fake high school recruiting grounds for the staff?

3) thus far oregon state is not seeing the exodus of players into the portal that ur expecting...are u aware that osu promoted the very likable defensive coordinator bray into the head coach position & that current players are excited to play for him?

4) that's just an illogical choice of options your presenting, cal does not have to play a 9th conference game level opponent when the program can schedule a mid major mid season for another home game at memorial stadium as recommended by the acc commish recently to knowlton

life wifey said, let usc & ucla play them but guess wut?...that won't happen in our lifetimes

and even oregon after a 100+ tradition of playing oregon state is smart enuf not to play the beavers in 2024
