2027 3.92 gpa (wants to major in mechanical engineering) 6'8" 310 lbs road grading offensive tackle ben lowther from centennial high school in peoria arizona with the unofficial visit to berkeley with the fam!!
the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (including the grand canyon state)
https://instagr.am/p/DQFH34cgNdk jb, jaylen's 29th b-day coincides with his honorary day in boston recognizing his remarkable achievements in helping the most vulnerable in society which is a berkeley value (like shocky brown got zero ******* interest in cal men's basketball these days)
https://instagr.am/p/DP9NwqpjQax blacksburg=NOT a ****hole dump like tuscon (adios pac 12, the big 12 gotta lotta windy low gpa truck stop towns like stillwater)#
this is one of the 3 most prestigious amateur tournaments along with the us and british amateurs, the winner receives an invitation to both the 2026 masters & 2026 british open
xihuan chang (69, tied for 10th): the true freshman phenom with michael kim upside finished with back to back birdies on the 17th & 18th holes!!
ziqin zhou (72, tied for 20th): there's usually much stiffer high velocity winds/toasty temperatures when teeing it up in the afternoon in dubai, z gotta chance to get rolling with a 1st out early morning tranquil 2nd round tee time...z wuz the runner up last year just narrowly missing 2025 masters & british open invitations
https://instagr.am/p/DP1m7D4Dr-M 2026 men's golf recruiting update: a superstar (quarterfinalist in the 2025 british amateur & euro junior ryder cup team member callixte alzas & 2 huge question mark cali kids with no golfing achievements yet
2025 black desert pga tournament in st george utah: 1st round update
max homa (even par, tied for 72nd): with darkness limiting visibility max opted to mark his 25 foot eagle putt on the par 5 18th hole & putt out early tomorrow morning...homa's iron play with off speed pitches is elite level precise at times with already 5 birdies thru 17 holes, let's ******* go maxamillion!!
james hahn (one over par, tied for 85th): the haas biz ad grad got 15 holes in before darkness
2025 genesis dp tournament in seoul korea: 1st & 2nd rounds update
byeong hun an (76 and 68, missed cut): as the defending champion ben lost his home field advantage when the host golf course venue changed this year, this is probably an's last tournament for 2025 (unless he decides to compete in the sacramento father/daughter scramble like moto)
xihuan chang (70, 9th): great golfers rise to the challenge on golf's largest stages, xihuan is a battle tested world class player & shot an efficient drama free 2 under par with only 1 bogey...let's go xihuan!!
zinqin zhou (70, tied for 15th): z played the iconic par 5 lake fronting par 5 18th hole with an eagle 3 & then finished on the course's toughest hole the sharp dogleg right par 4 9th hole with a birdie 3!!
fun fact: the best golf course in the middle east is by far & away the kyle phillips (best known for his fabulous restoration of the cal club in south san francisco) designed yas links in abu dhabi which briefly appeared in the golf magazine world top 100 rankings but honestly it's not even a world top 500 course on planet earth...a weird aspect of yas links is the non stop roaring of engines from the next door ferrari world & the perpetually hazy skies due to the blowing sand/air pollution in the region, shocky would rather play the FUN par 3 course inside of golden gate park than yas links
our fearless bear started the morning at 7:00 am tied for 72th with a 2 putt birdie 4 to get him 1 under par for the 1st round
then a couple of holes into the 2nd round, homa starts limping kinda like a dodgers right field who crashed the **** into the warning track & is literally hobbling (a pga physio staffer comes out & massages his ankle/puts magic **** cream on the affected area) with bone spurs
so is max gonna call it a day & take a cart back to the clubhouse and take a private plane back to north scottsdale in order to be home for a late lunch??
**** no, winners do NOT quit and quitters NEVER win!!
so homa plays on swinging the club beautifully with zero tension (working again with mark blackburn) while playing with his swing idol alex noren (they both do 15+ hockey swings as part of their preshot routines in order to take the left side of the golf course outta play) & collin's video game junkie buddy kurt kityama
do the golf gods love max homa??
yeah they do, on his 2nd to final hole homa loses his drive to the right into the black lava field, hits a provisional down the middle but then finds his ball in the right rough with a pretty good lie...our bear then pulls the **** outta a fairway wood into the left black rocks but it somehow miraculously ricochets all the way across the fairway into the right rough...max chips it up & rolls in the birdie 4, the look between homa & his caddie lance bennett wuz priceless!!
james hahn (71 & 72, missed cut): james will be a major force on the senior tour when he turns 50, the greyhawk scottsdale resident takes care of his body
https://instagr.am/p/DQLPRbkkQvQ cal men's golf update: hopefully everybody is replacing divots, raking bunkers, fixing ball marks and not stealing scooby snacks from the cart girl when she's retying her brunette ponytail or something
note: the following analysis is based on multiple sources & my personal observations:
*****ryan longwell is a paid special teams consultant that lives 3000 miles away from berkeley that shows up around once a month, his personality is such that he is not really nurturing/encouraging in his coaching style which is kinda mind boggling from someone who is a scratch golfer who should understand the mental fragility of golf swings/kicking motions
*****the kicking during the longwell era other than mateen bhaghani have been been beyond breaking bad with his unreal loyalty to the 3 iron trajectory dario longhetto which cost the bears multiple games in every season of his cal career
*****the punting during the longwell era has been somewhere north of mediocre with inconsistent distance & hang time
*****mateen bhaghani wuz a perfect 27 of 27 on extra points & 8 of 9 on field goals, he wuz not given any opportunities to kick any over 50 yards...he is now the ucla kicker, his 2024 big 10 season will be interesting to track
*****mateen bhaghani wuz given the assignment to kick off in only one game, his pregame instructions according to his bearents were to "kick the ball high & to the right" which wuz not practiced during the week...the dumb azzs will tell you he failed to kick the ball deep & lacks leg strength based upon this bull**** insider parroting of longwell, cherrington & wilcox garbage
*****it wuz a major 2024 recruiting miss & poor player evaluation of personnel by the staff not to offer all american punter kanyon floyd who will be heading to hometown asu with a full scholly...kanyon would've given the bears a potential 4 year all acc punter who with his current 4.73 gpa would've been a strong candidate to gain acceptance into the haas biz school
*****coach so'oto is nowhere in sight during special teams pregame warm ups (presumably vic is with the outside linebackers room), analyst zack tinker handles the warm ups
*****tinker preps during the week the punting & kick off coverage & return gameplans
*****the usc special teams play wuz terrible under coach so'oto (coach wilcox referenced his "experience" when he assigned the room to vic)
*****no team fair in the nation fair catches punts more than cal, the decision to have sure handed jeremiah hunter as the punt returner despite lacking lateral explosiveness to make the 1st tacklers miss is mind boggling
*****kickoff returns other than the epic jaydn ott touchdown return in the rose bowl have been non existent
*****shocky bumped into the former special teams coach charlie ragle & then recently hired bill musgrave in february of 2021 outside of the raucous world famous 16th hole of the phoenix open, both guys were absolutely **** faced & mostly incoherent during our 5 minute conversation...the person with me noted that both of them had the bulbous red noses of those with major drinking problems
*****former special teams analyst michael barton is "a terrible communicator"
special teams bottom line: cal has fielded the worst special teams units in college football during the coach wilcox era, a full time special teams coach needs to be hired
jb, michael luckkhurst should've never been "beaten out" by 3 iron trajectory dario longhetto
let's see if with a bye week the staff has worked on creating punt and kickoff blocking return lanes for +1 talented jacob de jesus whose explosive gamebreaking return skills are being wasted by the bears staff
tonite will be michael luckhurst's 1st road game (he handled kickoffs last week at memorial stadium) since returning to the football program after a cal soccer career which wuz precipitated by longwell running him off
it's cold as **** in blacksburg with temps in the high 40s and expected to be in the 30s in the 4th quarter, the bears lefty qb1 from ewa beach has probably never been this ******* cold in his entire life (except for maybe his couple of weeks last winter in eugene with level 7 hypothermia)!!
the key for the offense (not worried about the freezing weather impacting utah's cade uluave & his d) will be jaron handling the ball CLEANLY all game & throwing the ball accurately despite the cold azz mountain air, got it??
the good news is that the starting center played at nevada last season, the te1 played at idaho and the rb1 is from north carolina so this will not be a new experience for them, however the bears wide receivers perhaps wearing insulation gloves are a real unknown in this acc battle
benny, PITCHOUTS on the edges in wide open space is the ******* secret solution to the cal offense (along with really warm thermal clothing & wide receivers that can catch a football on a football field during a football game)!!
#1 not even touched brah
KENDR1CK 💪
Raphael scores his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on a 1-yard run.
lifer, the reality is that there's no donor money to buy out wilcox (and also sustain the football nil program) & chancellor lyons gotta lotta more critical financial issues to address than buying out another non berkeley grad with a golden parachute which means the ONLY realistic (that won't stop uniformed fans from throwing out names that will never happen) option is wilcox stepping down & getting paid thru the end of his contract with ron rivera truly taking the keys to the program & serving as the interim head coach with the majority of the current staff still in place which is critical for the early january recruiting transfer portal (wideouts is obviously the #1 priority)
but that's not gonna happen this upcoming week, the california golden bears are still 5-3 with a potentially winnable game next saturday vs a national ranked well coached virginia program
but that's not gonna happen this upcoming week, the california golden bears are still 5-3 with a potentially winnable game next saturday vs a national ranked well coached virginia program
virginia tech hokies 42 california golden bears 34
it took a while but vt finally got their revenge for the wild insight bowl in phoenix back in the day, they were the better coached team
the bears played hard, this loss is on the coaching staff that struggles to make in game adjustments on game days
offensively, when it became apparent that the temps in the 30s wuz impacting the snaps the staff wuz very slow to substitute the center position (lamar robinson did an excellent job in relief & has earned the right to run with the 1s next saturday vs virginia) or go under center
defensively, this wuz the most mind boggling inflexible d scheme in all my years of bleeding blue & gold with a remarkable inability/stubborness to NOT put more defenders in the box & a spy on drones...wilcox absolutely lit up bruno on the cal sideline but honestly he really should be looking in the mirror at his promoting 2 inexperienced co defensive coordinators & his own inability in FAILING to operate as a ceo by putting more than 5-6 defenders in the box when the hokies went almost exclusively to the run game in the 2nd half in rushing for 350+ yards & had numbers on every snap...a hall of fame coach like kyle willingham would've put 7-8 guys in the box in the 2nd half & made drones beat the bears with his arm & NOT his legs
My questions to Justin Wilcox after Virginia Tech surrounding the run defense and its historic feat tonight pic.twitter.com/wpGhuC6Yoy
^ out of touch stubborn coaches keep saying the same **** over & over, a hall of fame coach would just put more guys in the run box with a spy on the mobile qb1...if nothing changes bear bachmeier will set a ncca qb rushing record when cal plays at byu in 2026 & a red faced justin will drone on about how the bears gotta tackle more better & ****
so this is a brutal loss for the program & it's a long flight home to the left coast while the cal football program gets walked to its car
Shocky, sorry we couldn't catch up at the game, time to upgrade your phone? Bears almost stole another W after getting outgained during regulation by nearly 50%. Seemed V Tech really controlled both lines. They ran 5yds a pop all night, no one could stop their qb on their version of the option. Meanwhile JKS, when he got a snap he could handle, lacked the time in the pocket for deep routes it seemed. Nice to see a punt block for us, and was it luckhurst's son imitating his dad with the kick-off luring the returning into a corner? Last night we enjoyed dinner at The Farmhouse in Christiansburg. Real apple cider with a shot of fireball and caramel syrup, and the waiter recommended the prime rib and I had sides of grits and corn. The good eating helps deal with the disappointing loss...
glenn, sorry we didn't connect but great to see ur a foodie too!!
https://instagr.am/p/DQK3sIbDPia mental health/happiness is very important & for shocky a flip phone allows me to live in the moment & focus on my interests/those important to me without modern social media messaging distractions but obviously it's not that great for connecting with people in real time or buying a ******* gameday college football tix/pga tour passes which increasingly require smart phones
thx u for NOT buying me a virginia tech sweatshirt or something!!
enjoy safe travels with ur wife on the east coast & ur return to hong kong, save me a dumpling next time ur dining at the peninsula
xihuan chang (69, tied for 8th): xihuan played like a pga tour boss man making birdie 4s on all 4 par 5s, let's ******* go chang!!
zinqin zhou (69, tied for 13th); z's scoring is trending better everyday with today's birdie 3s on the first 2 holes then a consistent 15 pars with a closing birdie 4 on the par 5 18th hole!!
michael kim update: michael is gonna close out his 2025 season by playing in the 2 dp tour championship events in dubai next month...^ kinda funny that he says tpc scottsdale is the "funnest" tournament cuz when he turned around his entire career from journeyman to world top 50 player (currently ranked #38 in the official world rankings, top 50 at year end receive a 2026 masters invitation) it wuz with shocky as the ONLY person in his gallery for all 18 holes during this year's waste management 1st round yelling "go bears, let's ******* michael!!" as he went on a MONSTER birdie rampage!!
https://instagr.am/p/DQFH34cgNdk jb, jaylen's 29th b-day coincides with his honorary day in boston recognizing his remarkable achievements in helping the most vulnerable in society which is a berkeley value (like shocky brown got zero ******* interest in cal men's basketball these days)
cavs qb1 chandler morris is kinda like paws, he finds ways to win football games...after being banged up last week in narrowly escaping washington state at home, morris got the **** knocked outta him during 6 carolina sacks (the cavs o-line are not world beaters) but still ran hard late in the game with zero concern re: his personal health (he will be in a wheelchair when he's 40) in leading his cardiac kids to another last minute victory
yeah the virginia cavaliers (7-1) are nationally ranked but next saturday's game at memorial stadium will be a winnable (and loseable) game for the bears...the #1 factor will be whether or not wilcox oversees with his 2 inexperienced co defensive coordinators a blitzing multiple defenders in the box VIOLENT scheme that plays to knock out/destabilize morris or will they just play again a soft risk adverse d that results in justin doing another postgame presser after a loss droning on that the bears d got tighten up their run fits and tackle better _________________________________________________
KAABOOOMM, shocky's 3rd favorite (after cal & stanford) acc program with the upset win over them dallas petroleum club's low gpa trust funding offspring that are the future frackers of america (6-2, this is yet another winnable & loseable game for the bears)
congrats to my only idol in life bill coore & coach christy!!
my guy mateen bhaghani drilled 32 & 44 yard field goals as cal's #1 2026 outta conference opponent ucla (3-5) still gotta opportunity to get to 9 losses this season!!
the jet ran for 12 yards on 7 carries which is way better than ott's zero rushes for zero yards but that still don't excuse the bears unlikeable running back coach from FAILING to build relationships with his new room last spring (which he then rationalized wuz "god's will") which resulted in the bears rb room now with nobody that got nfl SPEED (the staff should be game planning for explosive/underutilized quaron adams getting 5+ touches vs virginia) or that can catch a football...this coach's only 2026 rb commit is a sub 3.0 gpa "premium" guy who caught taking illegal payments in so cal who is now at a high school in miami ___________________________________________________
message to strykur: if ur supremely confident that the bears will NOT win another game during the 2025 season why don't we make a mutually binding bet on this with shocky banking on at least another victory or three, ok??
let's make it a friendly wage, wut's ur total net worth??
this is gonna be easy money for u to double ur ******* net worth, brah
^ this is wut the undersized cal men's golf team drives would look like if they tracked their daily protein grams like pga golfers such as this 6'1" 190 lbs wake forest grad playing in his 3rd pga tournament since college
2025 black desert pga tournament in irvins utah: 3rd round update
max homa (66, tied for 11th): max with the second straight 66 es en fuego ahora while rolling in a 25 foot eagle 3 on the par 5 18th hole!!
wut's the key stat this week??
maxazillion has struggled the past year+ in hitting his drives accurately but now it's beautifully synced up with him finding an unreal 38 of 42 fairways this week & taking out (except for one pull on friday which resulted a double bogey) the left side of the golf course with his powerful fade ball flight
but don't like homa's odd decision to lay up on the drivable par 4 14th which resulted in a missed 10 footer for a par...max, according to shot links, all 10 of the guys in front of you on the leaderboard attempted to drive the green which resulted in an eagle 2, 6 birdie 3s & 3 par 4s...hit the big stick mañana amigo, comprende??
max, ur not going for it on the weiskopf designed drivable par 4 14th hole at black desert which doglegs slight right & favors ur high cut is simply incomprehensible!!
the cards (3-5) took the cool plunge in south beach with statue qb1 ben gulbansaon (former 4.0 gpa cal recruit, will attend medical school) passing for 50 yards on 9 of 21 attempts (to get a date with leidy) ___________________________________________
louisville cardinals 38 boston college terriers 24
the louisville cardinals (6-1) got one of the acc's most dangerous ground attack duos in rb1 in issac brown (14 carries for 205 yards) & a rb2 keyjuan brown (10 carries for 95 yards) along with talented qb1 miller moss and are very difficult to defeat despite a non dominating d in the cold kentucky rain
As a note for future west coast trips, UVA (or any ACC team) would not get a 10:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday IF they do not have a bye week following it.
I will say (not like my thoughts matter) Wilcox is 75% gone for next year. The 25% cover if this team drags itself to 8 wins in the regular season or they get to 7 and we get intel no one good wants the job so donors don't want to pay up.
But realistically this UVA game is Wilcox last stand so we will see if his players give a **** to try to save his job or not. We have seen some instances in the past (backend of 2023) that Wilcox can do just enough to buy another year and motivate the troops so we will see.
So my unofficial odds:
Rn, 75% he is gone Beat UVA 50% Lose to UVA 90% he is gone

This sounds about right. I have a feeling there's gonna be an announcement at the beginning of Big Game Week, or 1-2 days after BG.
If he ends up staying on because he somehow starts winning again, I'm certainly fine with that. After all, that's the whole point. But what are the chances?

If Wilcox can log wins against Virginia and Louisville then I'll happily be back on board!

Yeah to me, he had to go a minimum of 2-1 in the UNC/VA Tech/UVA stretch to take some heat off of him. If you had to pick the 2 to win, I guess it is better to win at home and beating a ranked team might fire up some folks.
I think they can certainly beat UVA because I don't think their coaching staff or talent is at Duke's level and they are probably due a bad bounce lost, but we will see.
I think Cal can get to 8 because I don't think UVA/Stanford/SMU are that good, with the latter might have their HC flirting with other jobs, which can distract them. But it will have to be on the coaching staff to drag them their because there is a lack of talent on the roster. (History says unlikely)
joego, shocky is rooting for the california golden bears football program to be successful NOW (there's zero money to buy out wilcox & hire a new coach and staff while maintaining nil donations but that won't stop angry uninformed fans re: berkeley's internal financial realities from putting out dumb azz coach lists which always include guys who have never recruited high gpa prospects or have berkeley ties) as we're running outta time with football conference realignments expected to happen in 2026 (formal contractual notices given by departing schools for 2027 new conferences) & the CRITICAL early january 10 day transfer portal window (an infusion of starting level talent at multiple positions will be necessary to win games in 2026)
so yeah cal needs to upset the nationally ranked cardiac kids virginia cavaliers (7-1) who have somehow pulled out multiple wins in the last minute that got a physically impaired qb1 in chandler morris that needs to be VIOLENTLY (via clean physical blitzing/#s in the box) ****** up from the 1st series (which is not a wilcox d schematic)
and just as importantly chancellor lyons needs to terminate the anti football co athletic director ****tards jay larson & jennifer simon o'nail (who together make just south of $1,000,000 at a time when rich is tryna get donors to open their wallets for berkeley despite the conclusive evidence that their dollars are being wasted by the university) who have overwhelmingly alienated the cal fanbase
and yeah with a lotta capacity projected for memorial stadium, monday morning would be a good time for rivera & lyons to jointly announce that ALL berkeley students are inclusively invited with FREE tixs for this saturday's 12:45 pm acc match up
And it's not my money, and not saying Wilcox has earned the right to stay, but I can see it being a tough sell to donors after a 7-5 season to buyout Wilcox and hire, say Jimmy Rodgers from WSU, totalling 20M because Cal is 10th in line for attractiveness of P4 jobs.
Especially if Michigan State/NC State/Wisconsin/Baylor come open as well as Cal will be fighting in that range.
