coach mcclure has extended a conditional offer to 6'3" 280 lbs center prospect isaiah kema from frenship high school in wolfforth texas (outside of lubbock)

isaiah is not a dumb azz, he got a 4.0 gpa & academics will be a major factor in his collegiate decision, he is interested in life after football

while kema currently lacks nfl size, he plays with a strong motor & leadership qualities with a nasty motor which is not surprising given his wrestling background...dude does everything the right way in life & would be a worker in the cal s&c program...isaiah gotten interest from pac 12 (offer from arizona), the big 12 (byu), the big 10 (Illinois) along with smu

with one commitment already in hand with grayshirt athletic tackle nick morrow who got high end mobility/tight end speed, the staff would like to add another high school prospect & an immediate impact portal transfer after the season to the offensive line room to round out the 2023 class

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked university in the world (including friday night lites in west texas)
https://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/
cal's monster class exclusive recruiting update: aggressive isaiah kemp with a truly relentless non stop motor is quickly emerging as a top priority for the cal offensive line in the size limited 2023 class

anyways, check out the brutal alpha predator aggression in a gold medal wrestling sort of way early season pancake fest video under the highly competitive west texas friday night lites, you will not watch a more dominating 2 game performance by a high school offensive lineman

right now isaiah got a conditional offer, he's been extended an official visit invitation for him & the fam...the logistical challenge is that his season's only open date is the weekend of october 1st when the bears are in the palouse, it will be very insightful to see if kema takes an official visit somewhere then...at this moment coach mcclure is looking at potentially traveling to texas during cal's bye week to watch in person kema ball out on friday october 7th when frenship high school tigers battles them midland legacy rebels

the shockster fully supports this recruitment (this endorsement is very important to coach wilcox), isaiah kema got a 4.0 gpa just like my boy poly bad azz 4.0 gpa sioape vatikani & also plays with a heavy dose of nasty attitude and that's something that has been lacking on the cal offensive line during the last decade in berkeley but is changing with our emergence into the siopae vatikani era

how smart is kema?...he reads forbes magazine every morning, he not a dumb azz

let's be very clear here, this recruitment got the potential to become an actionable offer sooner than later & isaiah kema is not candy azz soft

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked university in the world (including the windy azz oil fields in west texas)
https://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/
isaiah kema is gonna utilize his high school team's only open date this season to take an official visit to kansas this weekend

nobody ever confused kansas with duke, stanford, vanderbilt, northwestern or the #1 ranked university in the world...this is most likely an overall favorable development in cal's recruitment of the 4.0 gpa true student athlete with a wrestling background (blue uniform)

Hey Shocky,
This thread creates more energy, enthusiasm and spirit than Wilcox, Musgrave, and Sirmon combined!!!
That's a problem. When your dumb azz coaches create the most passive and uninteresting schemes you have a program doomed to sit at the bottom with Colorado and Zona. Those places can at least party and run out better looking women.

the two teams at martin stadium were competitively matched in terms of talent but one team was significantly better coached this afternoon

nfl future hall of fame defensive coordinator legend marv lewis (who lives on the right side of the tee box of the par 5 11th hole at desert highlands in north scottsdale & has been serving as the asu defensive analyst when in reality he's the de facto defensive coordinator without recruiting responsibilities) has told me when we've talked about college football that cal is the easiest team in the pac 12 to gameplan against...heading into this season marv thinks we've not played skill players with elite speed, our offensive line has been a "finesse" unit & our offensive schemes are slow developing & don't attack the middle third of the field in the passing game...so lewis thinks it's relatively simplistic to gameplan with an attacking 7-8 in the box, blitz thru the interior of the offensive line and the safeties cheating to the sidelines to assist with passing coverage because of our failure to throw passes in the middle of the field

so the 3-2 bears gotta 2 weeks to work on the following checklist:

1) get healthy...like the notre dame game, jack plummer got the **** knocked out of him, dude is a tough as **** gamer but if he takes many more violent hits he's gonna end up at the el monte spinal & taquito institute...it's also concerning that kai milner's 4 passes seemed to float & lacked velocity...the defense would very much benefit from the return of edge apex predator odua isibor against the buffs

2) continued development of cal's monster offensive line...the hard working trench guys got their azzs handed to them by the quickest d-line (along with the irish) they will face this season...gotta give tj session credit for showing character in helping pick up his quarterback after playing like a turnstile in the nyc subway system, his best football is all in front of him but he's gotta make huge strides in his development before october 15th

3) offensive play calling...coach wilcox gotta ask himself if his conservative gameday coaching philosophy is influencing billy m's schemes which don't attack the middle third of the field in the passing game (errant passes towards the sidelines usually end up as out of bounds incompletions, errants passes towards the middle third of the field can result in interceptions)...the greatest running plays during the jeff tedford era were pitches to javid, marshawn, etc...will jaydn ott given pitches outside of the tackle box & given the opportunity to create magic in open space in boulder?...will jaydn run at the speed of light for a 50+ yard touchdown agains the buffs which will result in the shockster stormin' the field for an end zone celebration & getting arrested on felony trespassing charges?

4) recruiting, recruiting, recruiting...more about this next week

yeah the cal football program walked shocky to the car today, can we please be absolutely sure?

How long do you want to ignore this user?

pretty good analysis... seems that the reason we didn't throw up the middle was more than just "Garbers"
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
proving the marv lewis theorem for game planning against cal:

coach wilcox should have one of the offensive analysts splatter chart every pass this season schemed by bill m

then at the next interview sessions one of the assembled media should ask the head coach, what percentage of this year's passes vertically attack downfield the middle third of the field?

trust me, if marv lewis has figured out the play calling tendencies of the cal football program, other defensive coordinators throughout the pac 12 have also solved this puzzle

don't be a dumb azz (and be predictable)#

Big C said:

big c, did you know that chase garbers got measured at only 6'07" at cal's pro day?...that's one of the reasons so many of his passes were knocked down at the line of scrimmage & he lacked superior vision downfield..and this may have been a factor in coach wilcox's creeping conservatism to avoid turnovers at all costs & abject failure to attack vertically downfield the middle third of the field

reality is that billy m's pro style offensive scheme (seldom moves the pocket to create downfield vision/passing lanes) favors a tall quarterback like 6'5" jack plummer but if the play calling don't vertically attack the middle third of the field in the passing game, teams are gonna put 7-8 in the box, send blitzes thru the interior of the line & have the safeties cheat to the sidelines to help in passing coverage

and that's exactly what's happened during the coach wilcox era in berkeley...marv lewis has figured it out & now apparently other defensive coordinators have also figured out our predictable play calling tendencies

look, there are a lot of emotional posters on this board that don't got yoga/meditation practices & therefore are not equipped to arrive at corrective solutions other than firing everybody

and that's ok, everybody is in different places in their life's personal development including billy m & coach wilcox...but they better get their **** figured out by october 15th in boulder

Big C
How long do you want to ignore this user?
shocky, did not know that about Garbers' height, nor do I necessarily believe it, but it would follow the tradition of Cal football (and basketball) players' heights being exaggerated

BI readers were "under the impression" that we would get the ball out faster and exploit the middle of the field more with Plummer. Didn't see that today. The ball is in the air too long, and too often east-west

eastcoastcal
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The height sounds roughly right. When I stormed the field last season and took pics with Garbs, we were about the same height (I'm just shy of 6'1) and he was wearing cleats so I think it checks out.

I always looked up to Chase Garbers, but maybe the figurative dominated the literal.

What's next? Ott is actually less than six feet?!? Just had an idea: In these times of the portal, maybe we should be UNDER-exaggerating players' measurables. Thank about it.

That RB Jenkins for WSU looked like he was about 5-5.

Hahaha yes.

Nooo Alabama you don't want Ott he's 5'3 125
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?

quarterbacks & point guards (unlike running backs) need height to ensure the necessary vision to see the entire field of play/potential passing lanes to facilitate the distribution of the ball into the soft spots of the opposing defense

the chase garbers cal nfl pro day measured height of 6'07" was a liability in a pro style offensive scheme that didn't move the pocket, it was highly successful at completing 25+ yard sideline routes on 3&2 out of bounds to niko stinko (gotta rescue cat minko stinko that likes to leave me presents under the piano when the shockster tries to make beautiful music)

the jack plummer 6'5" height is being wasted in the billy m scheme that don't attack the middle third of the field via various interior route running trees that exploit defenses that blitz thru the interior of the line & cheat safeties to assist in sideline passing coverage

california golden bears (3-2) strength of schedule update:

the notre dame cheating fighting irish (2-2) opted not to play because their favorite acc ref needed a weekend off to complete his recent real estate transaction for a trailer park near the lake of the ozarks with the suitcase of money he just received in an inheritance from uncle jimmy, an estranged relative on his mom's side...drew pyne is still arguably the least talented d1 quarterback but at least he gotta better attitude than jaden casey

the uc davis aggies (1-4) got soil tested in a viticultural context 24-41 by them montana state bobcats but no worries mcclennanns mccastlles & his little league dad r still big men on a non scary azz urban campus which is kinda important to them plus hustling evan tattersall got snaps

the university of las vegas running rebels (4-1) wheel of fortuned 31-20 them new mexico lobos, dean wormer has assured me that he gonna follow my recommendation to discontinue the participation of escort agencies at the upcoming career fall fair on campus in our efforts to bolster the school's forbes national collegiate ranking which is only slightly behind right now the orlando school of cosmetology & astrology (advanced cuticles and cosmos is an actual class there) and boise state

the arizona wildcats (3-2) sexually gronked 43-20 the colorado buffaloes in wracking up nearly 700 yards of offense which included fishy play calling which aggrieved the stoned as **** buffs d with vertical downfield passing to the middle third of the field tho the impassive karl d might be a dead man walking by the time the bears land in the high rocky mountains but its kinda hard to tell either way but make no mistake about it shocky is gonna get felony criminal trespassing charges dropped on him after he storms the field to join in the end zone celebration with cal's monster offensive line after billy m play calls a star stuff 50+ yard touchdown pitchout to jaydn ott who beats the edge defender in open space which kinda ***** up the entire weekend visiting my daughter shay at denver law cuz she gotta use her 1st year legal knowledge to try to get her dumb azz dad out of the slammer or something

maybe then marv lewis won't be telling me with his infamous snarky grin that "cal is the easiest team in the pac 12 to gameplan against"

Getting a "2nd pair of eyes" to take a look at what we're doing makes too much sense. Unlikely to happen. Too many coaches think their own pair of eyes is all they need. Hell, not just coaches.

Bottom line:
A winning team in basketball or football at Cal is the exception to the rule. The teams usually stink with a random winning team miraculously happening once in a while.
