2024 spring ball will be very revealing, hopefully craig is improving in his speed training & incoming jc safety with elite SPEED isaiah crosby (175 lbs is too lite) is building up his body to withstand the violence of acc football & that others with SPEED will be competing for the starting safety roles

Speed allows a defense to gamble more because mistakes can be covered up. Maybe the lack of speed is why the DC chose less risky tactics.

In my admittedly rather limited time hanging out with professional coaches, I used to be surprised that they actually know more about their sport than I do, as I am a Monday Morning Quarterback (and we know a helluva lot).

doing the hang with future nfl hall of famer defensive mastermind marvin lewis multiple times at desert highlands he's explained to me in depth how cal is the "easiest" team in the pac 12 to gameplan against during the wilcox era because of the bears predictable offensive tendencies to not attack the middle 3rd of the field in the downfield vertical passing game or attack the edges in the running games via sweeps & pitch outs

so no i honestly don't think bill musgrave knows more than me on a common sense level on how to attack defenses...and no ima not a golf course architect but honestly think i know as much about the finer points/nuances of the artistry of golf architecture as anybody in the world...just because someone gets paid to do something don't make them an expert

argentina korn ferry tour 4th round update:

after an opening 1st hole bogey 5 kk limbhaust played fearlessly the rest of the round with 5 birdies en route to a 66 & a tie for 5th which moves kk up to #31 in the tour's standings...congrats kk!

west palm beach pga tour 4th round update:

byeong hun an not only hit the tournament's longest drive of the week at 377 yards but he also shot a final round 66 which got him currently in a tie for 6th during the weather delay...completing his en fuego round before the delay an can drive home (as opposed to having to wait around for a potential monday morning finish) to orlando to get ready for next week's pga tour stop in his hometown

next week's pga tournament at bay hill will feature max homa, collin morikawa & byeong hun an...and the pga tour's alternate field event the puerto rico open will feature michael kim & james hahn

randi roelling from modesto is a future all american & watching her in person at the grand canyon tournament it wuz 100% obvious that she is a +1 athletic & highly competitive GENERATIONAL talent, when randi is on the mound the bears can potentially beat any team in the nation...bet

elon butler from san jose is the team's leading hitter with an unreal .423 average & 7 home runs

acacia anders from vacaville is the clean up hitter with a .415 average & a team high 20 rbis, she is the glue that holds this bears team together with her smooth glove at shortstop

kaylee pond from caldecott tunnel high school is hitting a .352, after both of her doubles today she did funny as **** stripper pole grind dances for her teammates in the dugout while standing on 2nd base...no doubt kaylee's moms is very proud of her

tianna bell from antioch got 6 home runs, next season she gotta opportunity to lead the acc in going yard

$42 million endowment. Assuming a 5% return (which is likely a low estimate), that is $2.1 million per year to be distributed. And it six alums that allegedly did this, not some broad collective.

It would be frustrating to see MM leave for his alma mater. And it's likely frustrating for MM to be promised things by JK that aren't being delivered. I know it's frustrating for me having JK as the AD.

I see no evidence that Furd even funded anything close to that number for NIL, and the story discussed in on basketball board says it was an NIL endowment, which is a patently stupid way to fund NIL. especially when you can't even recruit portal transfers who would command significant NIL payments due to academic restrictions on transfers. I see no merit in there assertion Madsen is leaven to Furd due to NIL support. If you told me someplace like USC, that is a different story.

There is some genuine reason for concern for both programs. The world of college athletics hs changed. Cal has a good shot at real relevance if the collective is robustly funded. The University itself seemingly does not care much about helping the revenue sports. Perhaps that changes with the next Chancellor. I am not particularly optimistic on that front.

But football needs a breakthrough season. On the field, in the seats and in eyes watching on TV. Football is the driver.

The collective is working hard to get the funds available to compete in the NIL world. I have given all I can for now, but that is the best way to help. But the wealth of Cal alums is formidable. If they can be activated Cal football can be a very attractive destination for players.

But the time for winning is now. There is not enough time to build a program. The collective needs to provide a roster that even Wilcox can win with.In 2024. No small task though. His track record is not great.

Yup. They may want someone with a deeper resume with the kind of money they are willing to pony-up.

BTW, one reason to discount the Furd NIL reasons, their two best players and also their starting DB all went into the Portal.

Multiple NY6 bowls over the last 20 years (including 2 undefeated seasons), will be dominant in the new Big-12, and thus lots of upside.

It would be frustrating to see MM leave for his alma mater. And it's likely frustrating for MM to be promised things by JK that aren't being delivered. I know it's frustrating for me having JK as the AD.
Knowlton deserves props for getting Madsen but if he does leave any remaining goodwill with Knowlton will be vaporized unless he makes a shocking splash hire happen.
