So we would need a new EIR. As far as I know, that is not being undertaken at the moment because Cal simply doesn't have the money given all its other commitments and needs to take this on. A new video board would probably be about $5m at Cal when all was said and done. if someone walked in tomorrow with a $5m check for a videoboard, I'll bet you'd start seeing that EIR underway pronto.


Yes, I remember the concessions made to the Hill people but thanks for the detail. Now that the agreement is expired, I say if the money is there, f*** 'em and put up the biggest brightest scoreboards you can. The University's "neighbors" have since proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not ever going to become less legalistic, and in the years since that all happened the state's politics have become a lot less charitable to "environmental" lawsuits that are simply intended to block construction.

There is only one Cracker Barrel in Northern California and it is no where near the Bay Area. There is no Cracker Barrel in Los Angeles County, Orange County or San Diego County either.

There is a reason all our starting RBs, WRs and TEs left while none of our defense did. Given decisions made by others, Javian made the best choice for himself, including going to another good academic school and playing for coaches that better understand a smart, academically oriented African American young man from Oakland, California.

I honestly think he will stay at UCLA to get his degree unless there is a coaching change at Cal and he sees an opportunity to come back to get his degree here. Education is important to him, which is why he chose Cal despite our 4-8 record and why he chose UCLA despite their 5-7 record.

agree with ur statement re: the jet's ucla coaches but would also add "soon to be unemployed" to ur descriptors of them

javona thomas tole me last year from her former perch at memorial stadium (15 minutes from home on gamedays) that jaivian is interested in becoming a physical therapist after his football days are over...with a total of 60 yards rushing in 2 games & the worst offensive line in the big 10 the jet will hopefully be able to stay healthy until his final college game in november of 2026 but honestly the odds are against that actually happening

stykur, where do u see the bruins "3 wins" coming from??...if they lose to new mexico this friday nite at the rose bowl (the la times is projecting less than 10,000 actual attendees), there's a near 100% probability that ucla goes 0-12 this fall

the cal staff is staying in touch with a couple of the 8 2026 current ucla commits particularly elite long snapper 3.5 gpa giancarlo cereghino from caldecott tunnel high school

2025 folds of honor at american dunes: 3rd & final round update

CONGRATS to daniel heo solving the riddle of the first 4 holes (playing them in +1) before rolling in 5 birdies the rest of the round to finish with a morikawa precision like 67!!

a key takeaway from this tournament is that ALL 8 players on the roster will compete for playing time, there are no developmental chops this season (which has not been the case the last couple of years in berkeley)


but overall a kinda disappointing tournament finishing 5th in the field but hopefully with a much greater awareness of the specific areas of much needed improvement (starting with calibrating ball flight trajectories in windy conditions) necessary to become a 2026 legit contender at the ncca men's championship at la costa's legoland course late next spring

the upcoming qualifying rounds will be uber competitive with the program's #1 golfer zinqin zhou hopefully returning to action after some back issues (that is 100% preventable with a yoga/meditation practice), world ranked amateur true freshman xihuan chang (who has already competed in 2 us amateurs advancing to match play in 2024) & fellow haas biz student athlete charlie bundy all hungry azz bears ready to fight for traveling spots to seattle later this month, let's ******* go!!

Furd has no talent and a coach who is out to lunch but the bear runts have a QB with enough talent to carry them to at least a few wins

Shocky1, you are correct. I was a long distance runner for 42 years, I completed 50 marathons, 75 1/2's and numerous 10ks and 5ks, as well as other assorted distances including 2 50k ultras. I am now 65, and can't do it anymore for various reasons, but I did and still do eat correctly, and more importantly, healthy, athletically, and organically.
Life is good here in retirement in Ventura, and we still get up to the Bay Area for an occasional game, plus my father (98 years young and an old Blue) and my sister still live in the Lafayette, Walnut Creek area. Next time we plan to go, I will let you know. Would love to have a couple words and exchange ideas as I think we are on the same page.

of all the position groups in the cal football program, the defensive line is gonna have the most attrition of graduating seniors after the 2025 season concludes, 2026 cal commit elite defensive tackle nemyah telona from de la salle gotta opportunity to come in as a true freshman and potentially start/earn significant playing time in the trenches!!

berkeley grad (and rugby player) mark bingham wuz a passenger on united flight #93 and is heard on a phone recording saying "let's roll" before leading the assault against the 9/11 terrorist hijackers in the front cabin

rest in peace, mark, one of the great american heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice in protecting his country from those that wish us harm, really hoping there is a shared moment of silent reflection at this upcoming saturday night football game at memorial stadium

I am sure he will enjoy winning 3 games in Westwood this season and then looking for another program in 2026

I honestly think he will stay at UCLA to get his degree unless there is a coaching change at Cal and he sees an opportunity to come back to get his degree here. Education is important to him, which is why he chose Cal despite our 4-8 record and why he chose UCLA despite their 5-7 record.


Could Rolo, Harsin and the RB coach recruit him, especially if we have a good season?

They are why he, and most of our offensive players, left. It has nothing to do with Ws and Ls. For many young smart, politically active African Americans from Oakland or Los Angeles who are drawn to Berkeley in the first place, there are more important issues and principles right now than winning football games. It is like asking if all the Cal basketball players that fled Mark Fox's program would have come back if he had just won more games.

Lots of assumptions and opinions here. The current players who did transfer in seem very happy to be here.
