playing with harris english in friday foursomes collin morikawa & his partner got blitzed by rory & tommy 5&4 in front of a surprisingly muted home crowd on a kinda toothless bethpage black (minimal rough & soft greens due to the recent showers)

collin hit the team's only exceptional shot on the par 4 9th hole hooking a short iron around a looming tree to a couple of feet for a tap in birdie putt by english...but he's continuing to misread greens while misjudging the speed of putts which is disappointing in that the black's greens are relatively flat & not tumultuous in their slopes/contouring (2026 us open venue shinnecock hills way further down the long island expressway & route 27 is a totally different putting examination)

morikawa is not on the tee sheet for tomorrow morning & it's possible he will be benched in the afternoon too until sunday's singles when all 12 americans will square off against a euro (who unlike the greedy azz americans are NOT getting paid & are competing for FREE on behalf of their continent!!)

Bethpage Black was a bad choice as a Ryder Cup venue. Because it's basically a municipal course with heavy play, the greens are fairly flat to make them easier to maintain. That played right into Europe's hands, because that's what they're used to, particularly the Brits. When you add in the rain that made the greens receptive, it basically became a putting contest, and the US lost. They need to move the Ryder Cup to more difficult, US Open type golf courses and grow the rough to put more of a premium on ball striking and recovery shots.
