goggles, luv u man but curious if u can give me a name or two for the rb1 prospect that the bears should target this offseason in "aiming higher" than the jet who got a 3.4 gpa who runs 21.1 miles per ******* hour & whose moms loves sitting in the north end zone with her family/friends on gamedays??
of course u can't actually name anybody, that rb1 prospect does not exist in the real world
not understanding why doechi keeps track of the bears gpas is just another sign of an largely ignorant fanbase at the #1 ranked public university in the world which is overall clueless as **** re: the realities of recruiting in berkeley
probably one of the most funny comments evah made to me by a cal fan wuz that they follow cal football recruiting but don't care about gpas
got it

I follow recruiting closely. I care about the GPAs. But it is the 2nd thing I look at. The first one is football ability. If they can't play but have good GPAs you get what you have now.
I fully understand that Cal is not Oregon, Alabama or Ole Miss. You have to be able to compete in the classroom here. But if you can't play I do not care what your GPA is. You have to find both good football players with strong academics.
That happens at Notre Dame. This season we are seeing an emergence of higher academic schools football fortunes. Vanderbilt and GaTech for 2. Duke and Virginia are others. Cal lost to both. Michigan and Texas are fine schools that find a way to play good football. It can be done.
I love good GPAs, but they have to be able to play. Jet is a good player. He was recruited to Cal. Played here 2 years and then left. Not pushed out. His choice. I am fine with bringing him back if the next coach thinks he will help the team win.
But Jet was here and left. And BFD about where his mom sits. This is a very big business now. And winning is important. You can be better than Cal has been and still recruit from a pool of good students. This staff has been horrible by nearly every measure imaginable. Cal can and should be better. Much better.
If the product on the field is the very best that can be acheived because the school is too difficult then shut it down or accept the relegation that surely will happen if more success is not acheieved.
Cal is a great school. They deserve a much better program than this. I love good GPAs. But there are lots of players with good GPAs that can also play. Find them, recruit them, sell them on Cal. But excuse me for not being sympathetic to a player that was here, left, is getting paid and still attending a very fine academic school.
He made a decision and needs to own it. If Tosh or any other HC believes he can help Cal win then cool. But by all means lets showcase the GPA, his mom and ignore the fact that he was already here, had a clear path to RB1 but still left. Decisions. Consequences. Life happens.
