rolo update: in contention for the head coach openings at both sacramento state (logical replacement would be troy taylor, athletic director mark orr is a former bear) & coastal carolina (further afar from indian valley & his son's upcoming freshman year playing qb at sjs)

A dream coaching staff for the offense would be;
Assoc. HC/QB: Rolo
OC: Davis Webb currently The Den. Broncos PGC/QB coach
OL Coach; Anae and/or Scott Huff the LA Rams TE coach.
WR Coach: Junior Adams currently DAL Cowboys WR coach. Make Junior Adams the Co-OC/passing game coordinator.
RB Coach: Tashard Choice former Texas Longhorns RB coach and current DET Lions RB coach.
TE: Mike Saffell
This won't happen but one can dream. The others have a possibility. It would be a hell of recruiting staff.

ST Coordinator:: I would like Byron Storer. He is currently Asst. sT Coach W/ GB Packers.

For the Defense hires, I would like to see
DC/Safeties Coach: Chris Hampton., he will probably stay at Oregon's as their DC.
Assoc. HC/DL/passing game coordinator Joe Salave'a. He would be a tough pull from Arizona, which is his Alma mater.
OLB/DC: Tony Tuioti current coach at Oregon
LB: Trent Bray
Co-DC/CB: Terrell Brown give him a little raise in lay to stay. Good recruiting and coach.

Keep Michael Frisina, Sione Ta'ufo'ou, Keith Hayward and Bob Gregory on staff to assist coaching staff. They are all solid coaches.

Tosh will pick his staff and it will be very interesting.
We would have a very diverse staff that can recruit their asses off.

Shocky1, I respect you opinions. You may be right about David Webb being a future coaching star in the NFL. I still would not be surprised if he was hired as our OC.

I will say I do love Coach Anae, and he had a very solid HS recruiting class. I'm good if he stays but would not be surprised if Tosh made a change. He is the one coach on the offensive side of the ball who stays other than Roki. I don't see Harsin staying if Tosh is looking for a OC who is a live wire recruiter and plays a smash mouth style.

On defense I don't see Vic So'oto staying at Cal. The OLB pass rush has been mediocre to poor and his recruiting has been less than desirable. I watch the Edge rushers and none of them use a hesitation move, push pull, use a club move or even slap OL's hands away. They have had a few games where they were good off the edge this year. The edge was not consistent enough.

I would take Coach Bray coaching MLB's over Coach Bruno any day. Bray is a better recruiter at this point in each of their career's. Bray is also a better position coach too. It will be interesting to see what Tosh does.

I hear you Shocky1, I do like that Cal is going into a positive place and there will be better days at Cal.

The OLBs are technically d-lineman in our current scheme, so really you just need one d-line coachtosh is a d-line EDGE guy so he'd be able to help in there as well.

He got a two. I told him it didn't count because he was playing from the whites to socialize with me and my buddy. He's an athletic 6'7" that usually drives around 320. (His claim to fame is that he blocked two of Leon Powe's shots in high school.)

It's listed as a 4/5, whatever that means.

He just got into the executive MBA program at HAAS and joked about going out for golf or basketball. But besides his age the need for a divorce is also an impediment.

cal's monster class OFFICIAL 2026 cal football schedule ranking (based upon rosters today):

1) smu (in dallas): well coached physical team with an elite qb1 kevin jennings who is a top 3 qb in the acc...rb1 tj harden is outta eligibility but the backups actually got more breakaway speed than him...defensively the graduations of leading tacklers s1s ahmaad moses (91 tackles) & isaiah nwokobia (80 tackles) could be an issue for the ponys...a plus for the bears is that low key racist smu (which dakota dickson is gonna find out about this summer) is not supported by the dallas community outside of its grads which means the gamedays really aren't that loud/hostile as gerald j ford stadium got more luxury boxes/suites than probably any other college stadium which puts out a country/petroleum club cocktail hour vibe (that's actually kinda disinterested in the game going on in the background)
