2026 cal football transfer portal recruiting update:
the potential addition of 6'1" 227 lbs 2 year starter at texas (131 total tackles, 64 solo) liona leafu from laie hawaii would give the bears the best backer room in the acc for the 2026 season with NFL level speed at every position
lefau (hawaii gatorade player of the year) wuz recruited by tosh to oregon back in the day & also had an actionable cal offer
liona is NOT a dumb azz, he got a 3.2 gpa at powerhouse kahuku high school & is a big fan of the bears humble 3.75 gpa lefty FAITH based qb1
WARNING: if there are any bears not mentally/physically focused for 60 minutes of VIOLENT football against a home crowd fired up bows on december 24th, the haka dance beatdown is gonna make the unprepared san diego state candy azz soft ****show look kinda like a ******* ka moana luau in comparison
Happy Aloha Monday. Grateful to start the day watching our Warriors pursuing excellence.
It’s going to be a great week. Semester is wrapping up and we have some fun home basketball games this week at the Stan. See you there!
https://instagr.am/p/DRhmKkcjQE4 ^ is this for reals or ai generated (why would anybody with options i.e. a high gpa wanna live in a freezing azz ****hole like eugene, stillwater or upstate new york)??
how bad is the syracuse qb1 situation??
the 2025 orangemen qb1 steve angelli & qb2 rickie collins are among the worst d1 signal callers which is causing head coach fran brown to target 2 quarterbacks in the january transfer portal window
this bears watching as da bares r traveling to syracuse in the fall of 2026, the outcome of this roadtrip will be impacted by the quarterback situation in the northeast
if shocky lived in upstate new york (or really anywhere ******* COLD with level 7 hypothermia), the monster would be looking for a couple of scarves, mittens, parkas & greyound tixs outta town!!
https://instagr.am/p/DSSkJbgjedE clothes r for losers (which is understood in st lucia, honolulu & old town...just ask somerville)#
fun fact: new marketing director jason hobar is reporting to the competent (hard working) beth tafolla-voetsch (director of fundraising) & NOT jay & jenny (the limited time current co athletic ****tards)
real talk: just like the cal fanbase is transitioning from uninformed negative cal tv "fans" (that will never return to memorial stadium again on gamedays) to a more FUN younger (louder) fanbase as epitomized by calgorithim, the cal football staff is passing on experienced alcoholics & building a championship program with young aggressive RECRUITERS
TALENT wins games (tole to shocky by his guys cuonzo martin & justin labagh back in the cal's monster class days)!!#
forcey, 100%, bad judgment is both dangerous and triggering!!
shockey so wants to get a small tattoo in st lucia but:
1) the monster is afraid of needles (gives blood to the red cross but it's problematic) 2) need to identify/select a small body part like an ankle to minimize pain 3) a clear message needs to be sent like "don't be a ******* dumb azz" *japanese lettering
the truth is that in order for shocky to become a substitute yoga teacher at modern yoga he's gotta get some ink!!
would totally help matters if schulzie knew the tattoo artist wuz a curvy brunette yoga female with a smokeshow ponytail & really bad ******* judgment!!
https://instagr.am/p/DSVtLe7EygM a 9th acc conference game has been added with PITTSBURGH flying 3000+ miles to berkeley for a HOME game at memorial stadium, this is FANTASTIC news to get a 5th acc HOME opponent!!
the fb staff wuz negotiating during the season to drop/reschedule the very challenging byu road game, hopefully that deal gets contractually finalized...there's ZERO chance either the ucla SOLD OUT (if successfully marketed) home opener or the wagner azz kicking (critical for identifying playing rotations/depth, qb2 etc) get rescheduled & the unlv game at allegiant already got rescheduled once due to covid
so here's the cal's monster class current rankings re: the difficulty of the 2026 schedule (before one of the 4 out of conference games is dropped/rescheduled):
cal's monster class OFFICIAL 2026 cal football schedule ranking (based upon rosters today):
1) smu (in dallas): well coached physical team with an elite qb1 kevin jennings who is a top 3 qb in the acc...rb1 tj harden is outta eligibility but the backups actually got more breakaway speed than him...defensively the graduations of leading tacklers s1s ahmaad moses (91 tackles) & isaiah nwokobia (80 tackles) could be an issue for the ponys...a plus for the bears is that low key racist smu (which dakota dickson is gonna find out about this summer) is not supported by the dallas community outside of its grads which means the gamedays really aren't that loud/hostile as gerald j ford stadium got more luxury boxes/suites than probably any other college stadium which puts out a country/petroleum club cocktail hour vibe (that's actually kinda disinterested in the game going on in the background)
2) byu (september 12th in provo): qb1 bear bachmeier & rb1 lj martin (1305 yards) lead a physical cougs (11-2 this season) offense that are very formidable at home with an electric atmosphere...jks will be able to attack a good but not great byu defense
3) north carolina state (in raleigh): qb1 cj bailey (2884 yards passing with an unreal 69.6% completion accuracy) is a top 3 acc qb/low round nfl prospect for the wolfpack (7-5) but the miami native is gonna be tampered/solicited by hometown miami to return to south beach for his final season...this ranking could change with the early january transfer portal window
When asked about his future, CJ Bailey said he’s just thinking about the upcoming game.
After that, he’s going to “go home and talk to my mom and my dad and enjoy my time off.” pic.twitter.com/gjegpJNTSw
4) clemson (at memorial stadium): elite talent at every position but thankfully not at qb1 with cade klubnik & dabo is not a fan of the transfer portal...fully expect tigers (7-5) fans to travel to the left coast for this acc battle royale
5) virginia (in charlottesville): yeah the cardiac kids cavs wuz 10-3 in 2025 but scoring points next season is gonna require an infusion of new talent with ice in his veins qb1 chandler morris (the paws of back in the day), 1000 yard rb j'mari taylor & wr1 trell harris (56 receptions for 809 yards) all outta eligibility
6) pittsburgh (at memorial stadium): the panthers (8-4) return a lotta young talent on offense but the d gave up 30+ points 6 times during 2025, let's drop 50 in the revenge game (shocks is still in therapy from watching the ***** up last minute missed field goal attempt at acrisure stadium that his guy mateen bhaghani would've drilled thru the ******* goalposts) at memorial stadium
7) unlv (october 3rd in las vegas): rebels qb1 anthony colandrea is a threat both with his arm (3050 yards passing) & with his legs but the d gave up 30+ points 6 times in a successful 2025 (10-3)... fully expect the bears faithful (not the expired cal tv "fans") to travel in large numbers to check out allegiant stadium & cheer on jks in vegas baby!!
8) wake forest (at memorial stadium): the 8-4 deacons exceeded expectations in 2025 but will be without rb1 demond claiborne & qb1 robbie ashford when they travel 3000 miles to the left coast in 2026
9) virginia tech (at memorial stadium): the temps in berkeley won't be in the 30s like blacksburg & the hokies (3-9) won't be able to run the same ******* option play 20+ times in the 2nd half without any ******* adjustments by the bears d staff...james franklin is expected to bring in florida transfer dj lagway as his qb1
10) stanford (at memorial stadium): tosh is gonna make sure the bears are emotionally ready to play the 2026 big game against a rival opponent (4-8) that lacks offensive firepower other than te1 sam roush
11) syracuse (in syracuse): the 3-9 orange got the worst offense in the acc in 2025, unless a legit qb1 is signed in the january transfer portal they are gonna struggle again moving the ball/scoring points but road games are always tricky/dangerous propositions
12) ucla (september 5th at memorial stadium): the opener for both teams if properly marketed will be a SELL OUT!!...the bruins lose most of their 2 deeps for both the offensive & defensive lines on a 3-9 2025 squad, if the bears can bury them westwood could be looking at a 10+ loss 2026 ****show
13) wagner seahawks (september 19th at memorial stadium): 5-7 against dogfood opponents in 2025, whose gonna be the bears qb2 next season??
what do you think, any adjustments to the ever ending games that you play??
^ this tweet wuz reposted by a civil activist that imo has the potential to be the future mayor of oakland, this young man's twitter no longer lists ucla (last finals on december 12th) as his school & indicates his current location is "oakland california"...harsin & griffin leaving berkeley isn't a bad thing for those disrespected
not gonna lie the jet is my favorite student athlete in berkeley since my yoga buddy jaylen brown roamed the hallways of berkeley, schuzie knows a societal energy shifter when he sees one (just ask his friend becky g who is a positive inspirational role model now for her 36,000,000+ gram followers, rebecca is changing lives)...oaktown more than evah needs fresh voices/leaders & a berkeley degree is PRICELESS!!
and his loving moms (jaivian is a mama's boy like shocky) sitting in the first rows of the bench seating with her dozen plus family/friends in the north end zone needs a 20 minute drive on fall gamedays to celebrate her son's unreal NFL SPEED!!
and yeah of the dozens of bearents that shocky communicates with (mostly during the season on gamedays & also emails), javona thomas is still his favorite too
yeah jet is a mamushi killah and a star star star star star star
shocky talked with the jet on the field at memorial stadium during the EPIC on field 2024 big game celebration with the monster walking up to him saying "the jet is a star star star star star star star!!" & gotta BIG SMILE in return

UCLA will have a pretty decent year, Chesney is an excellent coach, might be the best coach they've hired since Vermeil. This being said their turnaround might take some time, but they're not going to lose 10+ games next year, I see them having a 5-7 or 6-6 season with marked improvement through the season and a potential breakthrough season in year 2 or 3 of the Chesney tenure.
They have talent and depth at QB, if Nico leaves, they will bring Chesney's QB from James Madison, Barnett,. They also have a talented freshman QB coming in, DJ Bordeaux, chose UCLA over Michigan, Miami, Auburn, Colorado etc and might win the job in '27.
Worst case scenario for us in September would be Barnett at QB, he has had plenty of experience running Chesney's offense and would be ready to go on week 1.
88, understand ur points re: chesney (agreed he's a huge upgrade over foster) & the bruins unsettled qb1 situation, where would you slot them 1-13 in the above rankings??
would this ranking potentially change if the jet and/or the bruins defensive backfield (the team's by far strongest unit in 2025) are bears in this opening game at a hopefully SOLD OUT memorial stadium on saturday september 5, 2026??
^ that's awesome, glenn, and pencil me in for dumplings with you after my daily morning swim at the peninsula's insane high floor pool next time the monster is in hong kong on biz/tee time at hong kong cc
september 5, 2026=mark ur calendars (the day the muzak died for our friends in westwood)

UCLA would be somewhere in the middle, maybe higher if we played them later in the season.
I haven't really looked into the other teams yet, but the feedback I got about Chesney from a friend who is a UCLA alum and big fan was very positive.
88, check out the depth chart for the ucla offensive & defensive lines which are getting eviscerated after a 3-9 season, whoever is the bruins qb1 & rb1 is gonna get ******* killed/seriously injured playing behind indisputably the worst o-line in p5 football https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/ucla/92223

real talk: chesney (who grew up in kulpmont pennsylvania) is expected to announce he's gonna bring almost his entire staff from jmu (almost none of which got any west coast recruiting connections, wut could possibly go wrong??), keep an eye on demetrice martin & berkeley grad burl toler's next moves

He's going to bring most of his top returning players from his playoff-bound JMU and plug in some returners from UCLA and many portal transfers. He has probably got a lot of targets that he couldn't convince to join him at JMU but might get them to come to UCLA.
He's a guy with a solid track record of coaching and developing talent, I think the UCLA AD was intrigued with his potential working with bigger local talent, sort of like Chip Kelly coming in from New Hampshire to Oregon.

Except Chip was the OC at New Hampshire and OC at Oregon for 2 years under Beloit before they "promoted" Belotti to AD to make room to promote Kelly to HC. His staff had plenty of guys with West Coast ties.
Sounds good. Btw, have you played the course over in Macau next to the old Hyatt Regency out on Coloane Island? I know they've had a few tournaments out there in previous years, but my golfing days are in the past now. Very good restaurant just down the beach from the hotel though, Fernando's, excellent Macanese food. I usually get the clams in white wine sauce, washed down with some sangria.
brah, have not played golf in macau, those clams sure look tasty!!
88, will be very interesting to see if chesney's jmu guys are academically qualified to clear ucla's admissions, kelly never had to worry about getting 2.4 gpa dumb **** guys into oregon...if ur gonna hire a midwest guy on the left coast, san diego state's sean lewis already got west coast recruiting relationships in cali & a roster full of cali guys who would luv to play in front of their fam/friends at the rose bowl (or so fi)
very curious to see if the dukes can hang with the +1 athletic ducks this upcoming sat nite & also if tosh screams "go bears, read cal's monster class!!" after every interview

12) wagner seahawks (september 19th at memorial stadium): 5-7 against dogfood opponents in 2025, whose gonna be the bears qb2 next season??
what do you think, any adjustments to the ever ending games that you play??
2026 schedule UPDATED for the contractual removal of the byu roadtrip as predicted
will wolfpacks qb1 cj bailey (with clearly evasive/uncomfortable body language in the above interview) gonna go home after the nc state bowl game this weekend back to miami & grab the hurricanes money bags??
yeah the 2026 schedule is shaping up to be a special EPIC season for the ages in berkeley
what game(s) are you gonna attend in person??
the MAGIC of cal football (needs ur gameday ENERGY this fall at the stadiums)!!#
Shocks, mostly agree with the list. So much can change with the portal these days. Look at a team like TT they pretty much bought their way into the CFP. Im hoping with Tosh in the fold now we see an uptick in HS recruiting and less reliance on the portal. To me the portal should be seen as a way to add depth and maybe 1-2 impact starters.
cal's monster class OFFICIAL 2026 cal football schedule ranking (based upon rosters today):
2) north carolina state (in raleigh): qb1 cj bailey (2884 yards passing with an unreal 69.6% completion accuracy) is a top 3 acc qb/low round nfl prospect for the wolfpack (7-5) but the miami native is gonna be tampered/solicited by hometown miami to return to south beach for his final season...this ranking could change with the early january transfer portal window
When asked about his future, CJ Bailey said he’s just thinking about the upcoming game.
After that, he’s going to “go home and talk to my mom and my dad and enjoy my time off.” pic.twitter.com/gjegpJNTSw
3) clemson (at memorial stadium): elite talent at every position but thankfully not at qb1 with cade klubnik (very good, not great) & dabo is not a fan of the transfer portal...fully expect tigers (7-5) fans to travel to the left coast for this acc battle royale
4) virginia (in charlottesville): yeah the cardiac kids cavs wuz 10-3 in 2025 but scoring points next season is gonna require an infusion of new talent with ice in his veins qb1 chandler morris (the paws of back in the day), 1000 yard rb j'mari taylor & wr1 trell harris (56 receptions for 809 yards) all outta eligibility
5) pittsburgh (at memorial stadium): the panthers (8-4) return a lotta young talent on offense but the d gave up 30+ points 6 times during 2025, let's drop 50 in the revenge game (shocks is still in therapy from watching the ***** up last minute missed field goal attempt at acrisure stadium that his guy mateen bhaghani would've drilled thru the ******* goalposts) at memorial stadium
6) unlv (october 3rd in las vegas): rebels qb1 anthony colandrea is a threat both with his arm (3050 yards passing) & with his legs but the d gave up 30+ points 6 times in a successful 2025 (10-3)... fully expect the bears faithful (not the expired cal tv "fans") to travel in large numbers to check out allegiant stadium & cheer on jks in vegas baby!!
7) wake forest (at memorial stadium): the 8-4 deacons exceeded expectations in 2025 but will be without rb1 demond claiborne & qb1 robbie ashford when they travel 3000 miles to the left coast in 2026
8) virginia tech (at memorial stadium): the temps in berkeley won't be in the 30s like blacksburg & the hokies (3-9) won't be able to run the same ******* option play 20+ times in the 2nd half without any ******* adjustments by the bears d staff...james franklin is expected to bring in florida transfer dj lagway as his qb1
9) stanford (at memorial stadium): tosh is gonna make sure the bears are emotionally ready to play the 2026 big game against a rival opponent (4-8) that lacks offensive firepower other than te1 sam roush
10) syracuse (in syracuse): the 3-9 orange got the worst offense in the acc in 2025, unless a legit qb1 is signed in the january transfer portal they are gonna struggle again moving the ball/scoring points but road games are always tricky/dangerous propositions

That is no doubt the plan after this upcoming portal class. But Cal has right now at best a mid tier ACC roster. There is no way they can add a couple of starters and rely on the poor HS recruiting that occurred under Wilcox if they hope to have a breakthrough season.
They will likely be adding over 20 and possibly over 30 players in the portal. The HS recruiting needs to get much better but for this season and quite possibly next the portal will be a key recruiting tool for Cal.

I think we add a lot more than 1 or 2 impact starters. JKS hid a lot of roster deficiencies on offense. Collapsing pockets, tightly covered short and mid length throws, very little running game help. There is a lot of low hanging 'fruit'. We might get some defensive help too if Tosh wants to get a pass rush every now and then.
cal's monster class 2026 roster analysis/construction:
the monster's take is that our current roster gotta lotta talent with the 1s but unproven talent behind them that needs to be developed/identified during what promises to be a highly competitive 2026 spring ball with the new coaches evaluating playing rotations for what could be an EPIC fall season!!
college football is a qb1 centric biz, the bears got a humble SUPERSTAR that is cool as **** under pressure (his tight window throw to jacob de jesus on the last play of the roadie at louisville wuz that of an ice in his veins killah) which means in looking at the 2026 cal football schedule literally EVERY game is realistically (in a legit kinda way) winnable
and that hasn't been the case in berkeley in ******* forever
the staff is gonna be recruiting with surgical precision in the early january transfer portal window: the bears #1 positional priority is the defensive line room (the most challenging position in college football to find academically qualified prospects) followed by signing a couple of immediate impact defensive backs (cole martin, scooter jackson, jamir benjamin & andre jordan jr in a meaty westwood to berkeley deal??), hopefully an elite rb1/2 with NFL SPEED with javiian "the jet" thomas game changing upside to complement hard running kendrick raphael, a couple of high gpa STARTING wideouts with jackson harris as the top target, an ELITE day 1 tackling machine at linebacker like liona lefau, potentially a longsnapper and a couple of other guys...there's zero chance that there's gonna be 30 new bears, maybe 15-20+
fun fact: new marketing director jason hobar is reporting to the competent (hard working) beth tafolla-voetsch (director of fundraising) & NOT jay & jenny (the limited time current co athletic ****tards)
organizational restructuring for TERMINATIONS#
the wnba franchise valkyries (23-21) with their FUN multi pronged inclusive marketing strategy averaged 18,046 fans this season
say that # out loud, 18,046
and that's starting from ground zero with zero tixs sold on day one, got it??
yeah the valkyries know how to innovatively connect with the greater bay area fan market space in today's 6 second attention economy (snoopy understands this ****, jay & jenny not so much despite rich paying each of them just south of $500,000 for their bull**** clownshow, wut a ******* waste of money!!)
tosh is going hard on building a staff with nfl experience, bay area connections & youthful RECRUITING upside!!
https://instagr.am/p/DRktRgKD-vR shocky thinks 30 year old current minnesota vikings safeties coach (worked with cam bynum), usc standout with both undergraduate & master's degrees & delasalle all american michael hutchings who wuz born in san francisco got unreal upside in returning to the bay as the bears next defensive coordinator
Can’t express in words what this place meant to me! Met some of my best friends and built amazing relationships. I’m super excited to be allowed to finish out the season with the team in Hawaii! Let’s get this W. https://t.co/gIIZdiv20g
