Cal D held Syracuse to under 300 yards in the first half at 299 yards !!!

Omg did you see where that landed? That was at least 10 yards short. And it was going wide. Awful. And you can hear the boos on tv. Good

Another announcing crew questioning our play calling and clock management
Can we fire the coaching staff and hire all the TV announcers?

the good news is when we lose by 30 this won't really have mattered

Feel bad for Morris for being put in this position but we deserved to miss it.
Its still on the kicker to make that.
It was not a long kick but should have went to Coe, the whole sequence was baffling

Why on earth would you play for a FG there? Cut it from 3 scores to 3 scores!?!?

Horrible game.

I think Wilcox gets some unfair criticism at times but that last drive is beyond incompetence. Burning clock and huddling in your hurry up offense? Seriously. That was appalling.

I still remember people called me a bad fan years ago for saying we needed to lose a bunch of games to get rid of Wilcox and save our future.

I hate that I've been vindicated but what we're seeing here is a team with stage 1 cancer but refused chemo and then a year later is wondering why they're stuck in hospice care.

What you expect in game 10, at home with bowl eligibility on the line.

Agreed, by far.

I've seen Wilcox teams play worse games

But I'm not sure I've seen a Wilcox team give less effort

Cuz if we get it down to a 17 point game, then all we need to is score a TD, fail a 2pt conversion, score another TD, fail another 2pt conversion, and then make 2 FGs to win. 6+6+3+3 = 18 > 17. Simple Wilcoxian math

You know I wonder if whenever he sees the team playing poorly, he torpedoes the game thinking "we don't deserve to win anyway".

It's the only explanation I can have for that kind of clock management. And don't get me wrong, he's hard poor clock management before but that was something else.

Everyone clowned on Syracuse for losing to Stanford while Stanford is beating Louisville. Forget debating on which bowl we will be invited to, we are possibly ending the season 5-7

When history looks back at this, it'll be Oregon who killed the program.

If they hadn't offered Wilcox, we'd never be in this situation.

Oh, I agree with that. It was ridiculous by the coaching staff. That said, if the kicker is being asked to kick, its his job to make it.

Or that he knows the offense is so incompetent that if we are aggressive we'll just make it worse with a turnover or a sack or something. He could be right, but he's the one who has put together a putrid offense season after season and never changes anything.

Football Gods would not permit us to make that FG because they would not want to reward idiocy.

I'll never believe that wasn't a lie orchestrated by Wilcox/his agent/friends.

Btw he'd have been fired from Oregon midseason year 1 with this type of coaching.

I mean sure

But you also have a dude sitting on the bench who made two 50+ yard FGs in the last game

Anything over 40 should go to Coe

Perhaps it's good that he missed. Otherwise it'll just serve as positive reinforcement than the decision leading up to it was correct.

Is Sandy the last competent AD Cal has had?

I know she was the last AD to be hired away, which is saying something.

I am just astounded that there weren't aggressive downfield plays to end the half knowing your team needed a TD here and start of half to get in game and energize your team. Instead you grind and play for fg??? When does this nan ever learn.

I doubt Wilcox would do that (who knows about the agent though)

I find it just as likely that knowlton read on twitter from some poster named duckforlife that Oregon was making an offer and he just panicked and offered a 20 year extension.

And to think, Wilcox was yelling at the student section for throwing stuff during the SDSU game.

Yes, the students should not have been doing that, but Wilcox should not be yelling at anyone but himself.

Sure, but then why trot out the 40 yards and in kicker, when the 40 yards an out kicker made 2 from distance last week and was the ACC specialist of the week?

But the story was, he had already turned them down, twice. No need to extend Wilcox 6 years with $30 million guaranteed because of it.

Place the blame where it is deserved: Knowlton (and his enablers) killed the program.

Wilcox had his chance at redemption against FSU and Miami and he plssed both away by playing scared and tentative when the game counted and he could have shed his skin. The season that could have happened but for his lame stubbornness.

Flat team and poor coaching in the first half and it's not clear what will get resolved during halftime.
