Technically it can happen once a prospective student-athlete returns a signed offer of acceptance to the school. That happens a lot with walk-ons who don't get athletics aid.

yep ... with maybe one or two others at QB before Max follows.
Forrest and Bowers have a bit of head start ... but, competition, not seniority, determines who plays.
