I always tell people don't post in game threads because you're going to look stupid in retrospect. I'm not smart enough to take my own advice :-)Another Bear said:

In addition to the much better record, Wilcox's defense is way better than Dykes' offense, which actually wasn't very good either when you look at more advanced stats.GBear4Life said:PreciselyTheFiatLux said:
I get the hate. It's the free pass for having basically the same awful offense that we once had as a defense. That's all.
But accoring to the broadcasters last night Cal has gone through a huge drought in Seattle, our last win coming waaaaaaaay back in 2015... you know, we had a ONE GAME LOSING STREAK in Seattle.TouchedTheAxeIn82 said:
Reading that HH thread reminded me of one funny thing about being a Cal fan. Fans of the top teams are devastated when they lose to Cal. They can't comprehend losing to trash Cal and its horrible offense. The odd thing about Udub fans is that they should be used to it by now. Cal is 3-2 in their last 5 games against UW.
Totally. USC's fanbase had a meltdown over losing to us last year, even though they weren't, you know, all that good.TouchedTheAxeIn82 said:

I'm okay with the call because that would've been made most of the time. Chase just didn't throw it well
And the fuskies are still ranked #19.egbear82 said:
Cal just out of the Coachs' top 25, we're 3rd in "others receiving votes". We could crack it next week?

Would have hit it from 55. That was a kick
Consider that a complement of Da Bears! You could lose to us and still remain ranked.510 Bear said:And the fuskies are still ranked #19.egbear82 said:

There is a great site cfbstats.com that updates every Sunday morning. They use the same stats that are available to the College Football Playoff judges and the way its set up you can look at national and conference level as well as individual teams.FuzzyWuzzy said:
Some interesting game stats. https://calbears.com/documents/2019/9/8//calwash.pdf
Garbers had 13 rushes. Three were sacks. I only recall 1 that was a designed QB run. Meaning he scrambled on pass plays about 8-9 times. HIs scrambling was pretty effective. Taking out the three sacks he ran for something like 10 rushes for 74 yards. The run to pass play ratio was 38:18 but if you account for the sacks and scrambles as called-pass plays the ratio was more like 26:30 run to pass. So the play calling was pretty balanced and even favored the pass a bit although the stats on their face seem to indicate that we are very run-heavy. It's being skewed by all the scrambling Chase does. Also, the net yardage on called pass plays (iow, adding in Chase's scrambling yards and subtracting his sack yards) was probably about the same as the net yardage on called run plays, 50/50 or thereabouts.
