LOL. This is like 30 years behind the time. Simply put the NIL offer came in better. We are in an entirely new world.SFCityBear said:I don't buy this. Maybe it does not look good for Coach Fox, but when the commitment was made, there were three adults and one young person, likely a minor, in the room. Two of the adults were parents whose advice, and whose word apparently meant little. The young person is not yet mature. likely impressionable, and not yet aware of the fact that in life, a man is only as good as his word. He should have been advised that if he is not sure, then he should wait and let the process play out. The only man in the room who demonstrated some character was coach Fox. He kept his word on the offer of a scholarship. I think it is hard enough to find and evaluate a player, and then try to sell the program and the school to the player, but to try be a mind-reader and evaluate a player, his parents, and maybe his agent as to the value of their word is quite a stretch, IMO.BC Calfan said:
It's easy to just blame it on NIL. If so, why did Brown commit in the first place and what transpired in such a short period that made him change his mind?
Maybe another school made a bigger $ offer? OK, then he should have committed to that particular school.
We can speculate all we want but the fact is that it's another horrible look for Fox. We are all just looking for a shred of hope with this moribund program. A sign that things might be turning around. We finally got it and it only lasted 3 weeks.
