Did you actually watch it again? And, if so, why? Less painful (and maybe actually celebratory) now that he's gone?

I stopped watching/listening to him fairly early on last season (about the time of the constant injury "excuses"). I want to watch that video again like I'd want to pick at an old wound until it opened up I get that feelings on this will vary..

I wish I could give this more stars. It was obvious Fox wasn't working out at end of year two, That's OK - sometimes things don't work. A seemingly OK hire can underperform. But years three and four ?!?! When dozens if not hundreds were literally screaming at Knowlton to do something. And he did nothing. I have not heard of a single person in support of Fox in the last two years.

And Fox refusing to make any changes - when EVERYONE was screaming that this isn't working. Fox went into bunker mentality and apparently made our best players question their commitment to the game (much less Cal or their teammates). That's not incompetence. That is willful neglect, denial and borderline abuse.

**** NO! Mark Fox should be locked in a dank basement with a group of widows and orphans and recite out loud EVERY ****ING THING posted here on BI. And every time one of the widows or orphans cringes, he should hand them part of the $10,000,000 he cashed.

I can think of two reasons:

One - Jimmy 'the squeeze' Knowlton

Two - million$ of other reason$


But yeah, the sense of direction and momentum was clearly bad at the end of year 1. By the end of year 2, it was completely obvious. Only the tired excuses dragged it on to year 3. year 4 was simply criminal.

Why Jones was let go after 2 seasons, but Fox retained for 4 (and given a hefty extension) - leads me to believe that Knowlton is corrupt.

Knowlton had far more affinity for Fox than he had for Jones, helping him with excuses, even using "we" right up until the end.

The thing is, he was bad in every facet. And seems to have gotten worse and worse.

I mean I guess he could run a practice as well as a HS coach, so with Wykings players, he was able to show a very small amount of organization that was absent under Jones. But that lasted, what - 3 or 4 games?

A couple months ago, I was surprised that he hadn't completely lost the locker room, but since Madsen came on board, it seems that it was even worse than I imagined and a tribute to the players to stick it out DESPITE Mark Fox.

But regardless of shortcomings, regression, culture-misfit, whatever. The stubborn reluctance to attempt the slightest change in the face of blatant failure is mind boggling.
