The Warriors have been wildly inconsistent all season, only showing flashes of their former brilliance in spurts. They were like this last year, too, though they had a longer stretch of incredible play by Steph before he was injured.

Last year I thought they'd lose to Memphis but they surprised even themselves by winning it all.

This year, I picked them to lose in the first round no matter who they faced. And they were on track to prove me right after 2 games.

They may still get past Sac, and they may get past LA.

But people should really set expectations.
The magic is mostly gone, and fading. And then what does the franchise have left in the cupboard?

Lacob says he wants to be like Jerry Buss, going to so many title games in his 30+ years of ownership. Well, we'll have to see how he can re-tool.

In last night's game, I think it was absurd that Looney can stand for a jump ball with his right foot and right arm extended, then swing his right elbow into Sabonis' face as he tips the ball with his left hand.

Like, not only is that a foul, but it is a Technical-1 foul.

Wild arm-face contact is unfortunately going to happen in this game, we know.
They instituted the hand to face technical rule to reduce such interactions. Intent doesn't matter, and in the blur of action, it's not always whistled.
But there can be no more controlled action than on a jump ball.

If I were Sabonis, or Sacramento in general, I'd have been very pissed at that one!

Draymond Green committed a flagrant foul on LeBron James in Game 4 and got suspended for Game 5.

On the Saturday after Game 4, I went to Callippe GC in Pleasanton to pick up a game. They set me up with a couple of guys that rented clubs. They looked ex military or law enforcement to me. They were quiet and didn't really talk much. On the 6th or 7th hole I asked them what they did for a living. One guy was Monty McCutchen, head of the NBA refs, and the other man was Tom Washington, an NBA ref that was going to be a reserve ref for Game 5 in Oakland.

Monty spent 2 or 3 holes talking on the phone with ESPN about the Draymond/LeBron incident.

I knew that there was no way Monty and Tom wanted to risk talking to a local yahoo about the Finals, so I only raised one hoop topic with them: I told them I was a huge J Kidd fan. They both said they had a lot of respect for Jason and liked him.

The Warriors went on to lose to the Cavs and Draymond's flagrant and subsequent suspension from Game 5 was probably why.
