Speaking of "actively disregarding", it almost looks like the players are avoiding passing to Cone on purpose. While this might not be a bad idea, it seems as though ASU has noticed and they are defending 5 on 4 now.

I think Cone needs to concentrate more on driving the ball and taking close range 2s, or passing to open teammates around the basket or kicking out to open 3 point shooters. He had a close range 2 in the first half, it just didn't fall. But this is a much better play than the wild 3 point shots he often hoists (he put up a 3 point shot today as he was slipping!).

Cone just can't help but insist he's the guy from three. We were doing great with his unselfish play, until it flipped. That, and the laziness on ball security, are my only beefs with this team. Madsen needs to lay down the law on those two issues. Secure that ball like someone's trying to steal your infant child. And stop firing up threes if you're not wide open. If this team would abide by both of those, they'd be a tournament team. Hopefully we can get an even more capable center and a point guard next year. Madsen can coach, but he needs players with a bit more basketball iq if he's not going to lay the smack down.

He's capable. I should correct myself. He just has repeated sloppy dumb decisions due to ball security. Like everything takes an extra second to register they you need to protect the ball, and then it's gone. Happens 5-10 times a game and usually leads to turnovers. His numbers are great. They could be, and should be, otherworldly. He's not meeting his potential and that's part laziness, part Madsen not helping him, imo.

I'm not a Daws hater, but I do think a lot of people here rate him way above his actual proven abilities. He's a "good" big man who does not have the quickness or reliable scoring in the paint to make him a "great" center who has a chance in the NBA. I appreciate his toughness, rebounding ability, and of course he makes Cal's top ten big men list (not a list full of talent), but yes, there are a lot more capable big men out there and I hope Mad Dog finds one or trains Larsen to become Mad Dog II.

Sometimes it's better for a shooter to not follow their shot… just focus on good balanced shot and follow through

Daws kind of sideways instead of square and boxing out. Could have 25 rebounds a game. Rodman-type numbers, with proper technique.

I guess I made an error in judgment when I took a hard pass on placing heavy cheese on the Bears +2.5 points. Shucks.
