Look, if he was great he would be in the NBA by age 25. But answer me this: Who was the last Cal center to be tied for 4th in the NCAA for most Double/Doubles at this point in the season? He's good enough, and for Cal he is outstanding.

As I've said before, you have to go a lot deeper than double-doubles. He's 19th on both O and D rebounds. Nowhere to be found on blocks. Free-throw shooting, 60.9%, I can't give an "outstanding" for that, clanking free throws is a game killer.
I also take issue with "good enough" and "outstanding for Cal" like we're at a junior varsity level compared to the NCAA elite. Yes, that's what we're used to, but are we supposed to keep the standards of the last 10 years when we're about to play Duke and UNC next year? Time to start thinking like an ACC team, not settling, Daws is a gritty player but not good enough for where we want Cal to be in 24-25.
Glad he is proving me wrong today, though, except for a couple of terrible short-range misses he was a big contributor to this win, well done!

Great win. As far as Daws, he was a good player available on short notice whose previous relationship with Madsen made him want to come to a 3-29.Cal program that was reeling He was the first one on board, I'll always appreciate that.

"He's only 19th in the entire nation in each rebounding category when you separate the stat." Hilarious.

Well you see... okay, Aimaq had 20 pts, 14 boards and 5 assists today, but those are just numbers. Also, we won, but that is just a victory. If you dig deeper, you will discover that Aimaq isn't one of the best players in the country, merely one of the better players in the conference. Wait, we already knew that?!?

Did anyone notice Aimaq finished with 5 assists? For a center that's worthy of mention.

I like the sound of that… we know we're not going to shoot 50% FG and from 3pt for the next 9 games (not to mention the 84% FT). But after today a .500 record no longer seems like a pipe dream. It would be a great story to somehow win the tourney and at least a 1st rounder in March Madness.

Give to Cal Legends!

Meh. Bring 'em on! If we can't beat them once in three tries we don't deserve a tourney appearance anyway.

Just looked at the box score. Every Cal player in the plus column in the +/-, and every ASU player in the minus column.
Cal played only eight players. And only Newell got significant playing time off the bench. I wonder why no subs in garbage time, at least in the last minute when it was clearly over.

That's modern basketball. Getting 3 chances for an NCAA invite. Back before the NCAA became all about money, it was lose and you're out. In the future, it may be lose an NCAA Tournament game, and you may be placed a loser's bracket and get another chance to win the Tournament. Mark my words.

More than a head scratcher, if someone had been injured it'd be called malpractice. Especially with Tyson's late game legs.

Asu never took, off the press. Though we were up by a-lot, 5 players who rarely play might have turned the ball, over and made it close.

It's not a major issue, but weren't they up like 18 with 46 seconds to go? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they were only up 15.

And those players who rarely play thank you for your support. And I hope they don't read this forum. Without them sacrificing their bodies at every practice, this team would likely have lost more games than it has.

Agreed. That was great and I'd never heard it either. Was that Ernie Kent's son doing play-by-play?

It's still lose one and you're out. It's that format that makes the tourney one of the most exciting things in all of sports, and what brings in the big $$$. It would be moronic of the NCAA to kill it...but stranger things have happened.
