Who do people think would be on a list of potential Bear coaches?

At this point, to me it's a total crapshoot. I guess on balance, I'd prefer someone younger, like Russell Turner, as opposed to Ben Howland or one of the other retreads. I'm not sure it makes much difference, since I think if that coach wins here, even a little, they're probably gone to greener pastures, if that's what happens with Martin. We probably should have just hired Decuire for program continuity, since the message being sent is that we can't hold on to a coach that has even modest success, and therefore you need to try and establish some sort of line of succession.

I'd take a good look at Dennis Gates who is highly regarded in the ACC and at FSU. Stellar recruiter.

What about.... Mitch Henderson. Was a longtime assistant at Northwestern, has been at Princenton since 2011.

Would call Few and Tony Bennett first.
Bryce Drew and Tom Crean next, followed by Gates, Turner, and Amaker.

Please, Few is not leaving unless he is paid a boatload. Tony Bennett? Why would come all the way back out here when he is settled in at Virginia, and can dominate the ACC once the old vanguard (Coach K, Roy Williams, Rick Pitino and Jim Boeheim) leave?
Tom Crean would be a good hire but he will get offers elsewhere should Indiana can him.

Wouldn't expect Few or Bennett and Drew or Crean would be longshots, but looks aimed low and overpaid. Be OK with Gates or Turner.

If we're talking longshots, we might as give J-Kidd a call and see how much he likes the NBA grind and living in Milwaukee.

What NBA grind? They basically have the entire summer off, since there's no recruiting involved. In fact, a number of pro coaches have been quoted recently as saying they'd never go back to college coaching if they had a choice.
Totally in favor of Randy BennettOBear073akaSMFan;842819827 said:
Since we got one Aussie coming in maybe we could get a pipeline to others!

If Bennett can't beat Gonzaga, what's the basis for thinking he can beat Arizona or Oregon?

Eric Musselman would be my choice. He has NBA experience, comes from a basketball family (he has been coaching since he was 23). And he lives in the east bay.
I watch a lot of Mountain West Basketball and what he has done at UNR is amazing.
