Kelly was not in good enough shape last year to play him more

In my eyes Kelly is a good example of a player who is developing. I think Fox deserves some of the credit, as he does with Paris Austin's development.
Maybe, but he should have been playing him more the last two years also.
Exactly - Fox wanted to play him more, but said - He gets exhausted after 5-6 minutes and then commits reach in and slow footwork fouls. Staff clearly wanted to play him more, but with the Pandemic last summer/season, was not able to monitor him as much and He and DJ came in plus several pounds. When a consistent off season workout/monitoring program was in place, Kelly became much more dedicated on workouts/quality of food intake.
Hey, this is an Andre Kelly Fan club thread. You can start the Mark Fox Fan Club thread
Kelly's lack of minutes in previous years mostly stems from Fox starting others and giving starter's minutes to them accordingly.
Most of Kelly's fouls stem from being undersized at the center position, battling inside with taller players.
The obsession with his physic reminds me of Moneyball. It was why Charles Barkley was so underrated coming up. Good thing Monty didn't worry about that with Sanders-Frison.
He was our most effective player per minute last year. If fatigue had an effect on his play, it was not enough to effect his numbers. Keep playing him until his marginal value is equal to the guy you are playing instead.
In general, I think Fox plays, even used to start, Lars (and to a lesser extent, Thorpe) for reasons other than Kelly's "fatigue" such as matching up with taller centers as for player development.
