Re-reading this thread was so depressing.
What's more amazing to me is just three years later, how completely dead the program is. At least when Wyking was fired there was some talent in the program, some hope that the right coach could take that talent and do what Wyking could not. Three years later, there is a cone of complete silence around the program, and the recruiting has fallen to levels not seen at Cal in a long time (maybe ever?). Again, I would have thought that this was the definition of AD malpractice if we weren't watching the AD make these moves with the full support of the administration.
The AD even got an unprecedented 7 year extension after the worst combined results in the revenue sports in decades.
This is what gives me little to no hope for the future. Does anyone have any idea what warranted an extension? What were the positive changes that he brought?
C'mon guys, if we get a better coach, they do a little roster shuffling and this program could be turned around in two years. Now, will that actually happen? Well, it might! Let's say we get a new coach in two weeks, or 54 weeks. Let's say Knowlton gets some "guidance" this time around, or even just gets lucky... Heck, it
could happen!
