I am very happy for this team. ashley did not play? but ava has stepped in and done a great job. peyton has to be injured.. as long as maeder is setting well, paige will sit, especially playing tough teams. texas state had beaten #13 houston earlier this season. so a great win for the bears.

She stayed in rotation but at some point need to get other OH more involved if something seriously happened to one of the starters."
Thanks for the feedback. To date, it seems like the Bears possess just enough depth to fill temporary holes in their lineup. I hope that it keeps up.
8-0 start..looks like I have to renew my season tickets! Last 5 yrs or so have been disappointed with the women BB & VB teams. So decided just to continue the WBB's season tickets. Think I will now renew the WVB tickets ..since I've already gone to two home games.
i would do volleyball tixs again, but i live so far away. After last nite's football game, i don't know about keeping my season tixs. I would much rather watch the volleyball team play and we will see about men's basketball again. Go Bears!!. This team will play tough even if they have a hard time in conference. After the abrupt departure of the previous HC that left two young inexperienced assistant coaches in charge, the performance of the team has been miraculous!
The defense that was a sieve last year with a receive percentage of .920 is currently a solid .946 with both 6-rotation OH Sam T. and Maggie Li, libero Tara DeSa, and DS Sophia Johnson. Sam T. receive pct is currently .959, almost 40 points better than last season!
Offensively, last season's attack percentage was .179 compared to the current .254.
If we can keep these numbers in conference play, Cal should win their share of matches. GO BEARS!

Paige Morningstar was signed by the staff of Crosson and the two new coaches in February 2023. Morningstar
There was no announcement regarding Maggie Li and Sophia Johnson, but I assume it was the current coaches plus Crosson.

this coaching staff, short on coaching experience, but getting their players to play well. much better than in previous seasons. will the AD retain them or go looking for a highly rated head coach? I like how the coaches are handling the subs and rotations. playing with a short lineup vs strong teams and getting non starters to play against weaker teams. the team is starting to gel with their top 8- 9 players. and finding that ava can play well. hopefully ashley gets healed up and we can have a deeper lineup. Go bears this friday and sat.
sansei bear knows all about having an interim coach doing well. Coach Dorr and then not hiring her as permanent head coach, which i thought was not a good decision.. you have a coach P5 does well and then you hire a coach from cal poly who did well at lower end school. If he would have hired a successfull P5 coach i would have been fine with it.

LodeBear, I questioned Crosson's decision to hire two inexperienced assistant coaches, but I am totally surprised at the team's performance, especially since Crosson left the team in a bind with his last-minute resignation.
I like how the team plays well defensively, and while the offense sputters at times, the young women show a lot of resilience in bouncing back. That's a sign of good coaching!

Yes sansei bear I did not understand why he hired the two present coaches. I believe JK said get rid of your assistants and you can stay. But Sam probably saw the handwriting on the wall and jumped at the opportunity to move on
Another prime example of Knowlton's incompetence. Crossman should have been fired after Thanksgiving.
