I am a huge Kubrick fan. His last film, the one that killed him, was a disappointment for me.

*Trivia: Kubrick quit the Brando vehicle, One-Eyed Jacks, and Brando took the helm. It is a darn good Western.

You Must Remember This, a movie history podcast, has been around since 2014, devoting seasons to everything from that racist Disney movie to the parallels between Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin to Charles Manson's Hollywood.

You must Remember This is hosted by Karina Longworth, who is married to Rian Johnson (director of the best and worst Breaking Bad episodes, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out).

In 2022, she did a season called Erotic 80s, which explores how nudity and sex became part of mainstream cinema.

In 2023, she delivered a sequel, Erotic 90s (Pretty Woman, Basic Instinct, Showgirls, etc.). The 2 Eyes Wide Shut episodes were the culmination of Erotic 90s.

My recollection is that they were starting to work nude scenes into mainstream movies in 1969/1970. I got my drivers license in 1970 and probably saw every movie playing in Berkeley theaters around that time. MASH, Woodstock, Alice's Restaurant, The Great White Hope,Harold and Maude, Brewster McCloud, Joe, Pretty Maids All in a Row, Zabriskie Point, Little Faus and Big Halsey, A Clockwork Orange, Five Easy Pieces, Little Big Man, Catch-22, Easy Rider, Take the Money and Run, Bananas, etc.

^ John Currin, the painter, is fairly well-established in modern art circles. His more famous works sell above $10M. His stuff is a bit out there, kind of a more sarcastic, dirtier John Cheever, riding the figurative form which became popular early this century.

I saw him perform with the band in 2013. He did a solid job simulating Brian's falsetto of the 1960's….but there was only one Brian of the 1960's.
