I'm curious, the invasion is about a week old, and it is still front page news and the top news story of the day. However, it looks like the invasion is going to be a longer more protracted war than initially thought.
How long until the invasion is no longer front page news, and starts being covered by mainstream news after the first commercial break? I'm guessing two more weeks as people will get bored of the story rather soon. Sure, if something major happens, it will rise up to the top story, but day to day updates will not be given the same coverage.

What you are saying may have been true after the wall fell but is not true now. Poland has an authoritarian right wing populist government that has virtually banned abortion, restricted democratic and legal norms and is violently anti-immigrant. The same government has greatly increased social programs including minimum wage, generous child subsidies, and increased pensions.
The result is a nationalist, pro church, pro family and ethnically homogeneous( read white) country with generous welfare programs.
Ironically, though Poland is of course anti- Russian, their current politics and culture mirrors the Russians more closely than it does France. Germany or Italy

I just want to know if this invasion is over yet. Because first I heard it was never going to happen, then I heard that Putin would stop in the Eastern provinces and of course these same folks now tell me that he'll be done once he takes Ukraine. And it's really all our fault this is happening, because we allowed Ukraine to apply for NATO membership 14 years ago. The fact that those plans were shelved a couple of decades past is irrelevant.
Bottom line sometimes a cigar is a cigar and the sometimes the "fault" lies with the autocratic nut sitting at the end of the 90 foot table who is willing to kills tens of thousands and displace millions to recreate Czarist Russia. It's not Milton Friedman and it's not Ronald Reagan and it's not the Easter Bunny. Not sure we need to really work too hard to figure this one out.
