I do wonder if the US (and by extension Ukraine) is applying the lessons they learned by being in Afghanistan for 20 years and Iraq for 7, and the issues they encountered as the aggressors and imposing them upon Russia. I wonder if they realized that the effectiveness of expensive high-value weaponry is limited against small groups of highly mobile guerillas, and that this high-value weaponry simply acts as a 'target' against these same guerillas who can use simpler, cheaper weapons in hit and run attacks.

I found this an interesting development. Lithuania, the small Baltic state that had shared Soviet infrastructure with Russia, is stopping all Russian imports of Natural Gas.

"From this month on - no more Russian gas in Lithuania," Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda tweeted on Saturday, saying the country is breaking "energy ties with the aggressor".

So California had a very large Russian population in the early 1800's, largely based on the fur trade. What if Putin got a dusty old map and decided we really should be part of the new Russian empire and rolls his tanks into town? Should we be cool with that? Because he wants our land we should just "surrender"?

Sure his sway over Ukraine is of the more recent variety, but if you're going to say that one country should just be able to take another because in early generations it had some control over it, where and when does that analysis stop?

If it's "war lust" to applaud a free peoples' right to self determination then color me lustful I guess.

Strikes me as someone who self identifies as antiestablishment and he's trying too hard to prove he's against everything the establishment does.

No different than the binary thinking of knuckle dragging GOP - "Democrats suck. Republicans rule!" Except he thinks "The US Government sucks. No government rules!"

What the hell? There are so many problems with the construction of that "logic" it's tough to know where to even start. But I guess if I had to start somewhere it would be observing that Russia is not the country getting invaded, much less getting invaded because of Putin. It's Ukraine. So to say people said the same things about Trump as they are about Putin (which is, to put it kindly, "a stretch") and it's good no one invaded the U.S. because of it is gibberish.

These people ALWAYS seem to wind up accidentally supporting authoritarians, despite claiming to be all about personal freedom. The authoritarians are okay as long as they are opposing American hegemony. Never mind that Russian hegemony would almost certainly be worse for everyone, including him.

We saw the same crap happening with Yogi. Pretty much everyone he once linked to here has wound up either tacitly or directly supporting Putin's propaganda. (Except Krystal and Saagar; I do have to give them credit for being instantly against Putin's invasion as soon as it started. The rest seem to have gotten even dumber than before.)

I definitely did. It inspired me to check out the rest of his Twitter feed, where I found even worse opinions about Russia and Ukraine. It's pretty obvious he knows zilch about the current situation or the history between these two countries, and is trying (and failing) to fit it into his preferred box of American racism.

How many years did take to get an anti lynching bill passed ?

If those on capital hill Jan 6 espoused lynching pence with nooses what do you think they feel about Black people ? They are the problem

That's what Irami is saying about the Russian invasion. If you think his opinion on that conflict is worth discussing, then I would say it's worth discussing about the racial conflict in the US.

I'm going to presume that he doesn't see it this way and that's why I would discard his opinions about the Russian invasion.

Look, I'm not saying that anti-White racism is going to have anywhere near the same impact on a societal level as anti-Black racism, at least not in this country. If you want to talk about systemic problems then I agree that the former is not very important.

But on an INDIVIDUAL level, I am perfectly happy to start ignoring people who seem to be racist against any particular group, and that includes Black people who seem to be personally racist against White people. They may not be in position to start any genocides, but even so, their way is not the way to solve the problem.

I think I see now …

That oppressor/oppressed situation/relationship over there has some similarities

But one that differs /most impactful (negatively) in the oppression dynamic here is we are not the cousins from across the boarder and we don't look alike/similar.

His lenses are chalk full of slave trauma/Jim crow etc etc due to having a different color skin only.
