"Why do you keep posting a tabloid newspaper? Are you spoofing?"*

What do you think is more reliable, that tabloid story or the contention that Putin, who has lost massive amounts of blood and treasure in the invasion, is going to let a dumbf@uck squared like Trump cart minerals worth billions (trillions?) from his front porch over the bodies of dead Russian soldiers?

*In between photo essays of Censori's latest and bikini shoots of Emily Ratajkowski they sandwich Putin stories so I post'em.
Is there a media source that reports matters contrary to the Trump narrative that is considered reliable by MAGA Nation? Asking for a friend, Big C.

It is called a compromise. My understanding is that the Eastern part of Ukraine that Russia now occupies is industrial and mineral rich. Russia will want to keep that portion, as well as Crimea.

We'll see how it goes and of course I hope there can be peace. But I suspect this is headed towards the conclusion that, in fact, the annoying libs were right about Putin and he doesn't want peace.

Zelensky's last statements about "Putin will die soon" haven't gone down very well in Moscow, Putin now refusing to sign a peace deal with the current Ukrainain government.

Did Zelensky really recently say those things or is that fake? If that is real, that is proof that Zelensky is obstructing peace, which is sad and unfortunate.

Zelensky did say that in an interview with French TV in Paris yesterday. The guy is really off his rocker.

All you have to do is read the subtitle to see that he's talking about Putin being old, not literally killing him.

All you have to do is watch the video, as long as the subtitles aren't incorrect, Zelensky is talking mad crap about Putin.

"He is old. He will die soon. That is a fact, and this will all be over.
He might even be finished before he finishes his safe failed historic life."

Those are awful things to say while supposedly negotiating peace with a foreign leader. You are defending the indefensible.

Maybe Zelenskyy thinks he can win over Trump if he can show him that he can insult people. ("Thank you, Donald J Trump, for inspiring me!") Maybe he can lead a "Lock him up!" chant.

Putin declares he can 'finish off' Ukraine in brazen defiance of Trump - as he boards nuke sub and unleashes new strikes | The US Sun

https://www.the-sun.com/news/13853765/trump-ukraine-russia-peace-talks-saudi-arabia-riyadh/

Trump and his team are on board with the main Russian conditions for peace, basically an "Istanbul Plus", fairly close to what the Ukrainians themselves agreed to 2 months into the war at the Istanbul peace talks before Boris Johnson and co egged them on to keep fighting and scrap that deal.

Putin is basically saying to Ukraine and EU backers, take the Istanbul Plus today, or we're going to keep going and annex the rest of "Novorossiya", the historically Russian 40% of present Ukraine (includes Odessa, Kharkov, Dnipro etc).

Putin is ever-closer to agreeing to peace, as Trump continues to capitulate (on Ukraine's behalf, of course!). Just a fewwwww more concessions... then maybe a few more...

Somebody help me, as I'm not up to date on the "Noble" Prize guidelines: Putin and Trump can share the Nobel Prize for Peace, correct? Two great leaders who want only peace!

My tax money isn't bankrolling Putin. Given what you folks say about him, Putin must be nothing short of Count Orlok. Regardless, Zelensky badmouthing Putin during settlement negotiations is absurd. He apparently doesn't want the war to end anytime soon.

Peace talks are going great.
No matter how many times people explain to you that losers don't dictate terms in peace settlements, you still can't seem to grasp this simple concept. Unfortunately for Ukraine, their leader has the same problem, so Ukrainians will continue to needlessly die for a lost cause.

Ukraine was in a far stronger position to negotiate peace before Biden and Boris Johnson encouraged Ukraine to fight a war they had no chance of winning. They don't have the cards.

Ukraine doesn't have the cards... I wanna say I have heard this before... somewhere.

It is a common expression for someone who has less leverage than their opponent. Trump and Vance used it with Zelensky, but Zelensky and his worshippers still fail to understand that they don't have the cards.

Yes, that's where I heard it in this context: Thanks!

Maybe Zelenskyy, being of limited English proficiency, needs to hear it more often or maybe have it explained. I know, in the White House that day, he did say "We're not playing cards", but did he really understand? Or maybe it's his "worshippers" who need a little lesson in American English idioms?

Too late now, but...

Come in like you're still for Ukraine in this. Even bump up their weapons a little bit. Then, when in more of a position of strength, get Ukraine to negotiate a peace deal with the Rooskies. As a bargaining chip, promise that Ukraine will never be in NATO, as long as they are allowed to remain a neutral sovereign state.

Make a deal in which Putin gets a little something in order to save face, but not so much that he looks like a big winner. Make a deal to work with Russia where we share common interests (such as anti-terrorism), but they need to stop the election interference and minimize the nasty spying. Tell Putin he can still push his enemies out of windows for all we care, but it's got to be his people, in his country.

Instead, we've already capitulated, basically, thus giving Putin a better point from which to negotiate.

Too late now, but...

Come in like you're still for Ukraine in this. Even bump up their weapons a little bit. Then, when in more of a position of strength, get Ukraine to negotiate a peace deal with the Rooskies. As a bargaining chip, promise that Ukraine will never be in NATO, as long as they are allowed to remain a neutral buffer state.

What weapons specifically? Giving them 'a little bit' won't help bc 50% goes to the black market / C-A, and Russia can pick off weapons in route to the battle field almost at will.

I don't think Zelensky would back off if he saw a little progress, whether that's his personal drive, Azov threatening his family, or both.

Giving Putin "a little something" - does that include him being able to keep most of his conquered, historically Russian, areas, including Crimea?

A lot of people have been saying it was a Tesla.

Nothing to see here, folks.

No, they haven't, at least not anyone who isn't completely ignorant. Teslas don't catch fire more than other cars even if you really really want them to.

A question for the folks here criticizing Trump's handling of the situation. What should be done? If you have a solution for ending the war, let's hear it. And if you maintain that the war must be won no matter what, that Russia must be repelled, then how do you propose to bring that about?

1. I don't know what weapons, exactly. Just enough to give Ukraine a little boost and let Putin know that we are willing to keep at it unless he is willing to make a reasonable deal.

2. Yeah, I suppose Putin would get some of the land. I don't like it, but he's in a stronger position right now. Make a deal so that both sides need to compromise, so that both Ukraine and Russia could both spin a narrative that it was a good deal, all things considered.

Had the US/NATO affirmed Ukraine's neutrality and renounced further NATO expansion, the invasion never would have happened. So were the million lives lost on both sides worth it?

I think your belief that more weapons and aide will bring Russia to the table is sadly not grounded in reality. Russia is winning a war of attrition. No amount of NATO weapons can reverse the numerical manpower advantage that Russia has. Having suffered hundreds of thousands of casualties, I don't think the Russians will be bullied into accepting less than they think they deserve.
