Thank you Blinken, Sullivan, Austin, lobbyists, C-A, MIC and the Autopen President.

Agree. No US boots on the ground. And my definition of "boots" is soldiers actively fighting.

Whatever is going on now is the responsibility of the current Commander-in-Chief. If he and Musk could dismantle USAID in a few weeks, they should be able to take over the mess in Ukraine in 60+ days.

Lately, I've been thinking that I don't have a problem if we scale way back in Ukraine and let the Europeans handle the rest as they see fit. Maybe we play a support role, but we can't be there forever.

Boots on the ground - likely in some advisory role - just starts to feel too much like Vietnam. It's a slippery slope toward being in combat. There's nothing in Ukraine worth a single ounce of US blood

Wait till you find out that Europe is completely inept and can't actually handle the rest lol. There's a reason they are begging the US to be a "backstop" providing them intelligence and satellite use.

Yes. See the stupid inclusion of the reporter in the group chat thing…we "had" to attack the Houthis even though that's primarily a European shipping lane because Europe was not capable of doing it themselves.

Vietnam, quite critically, had American troops actually fighting there.

The U.S. has 13 military bases and around 20,000 troops in Latvia, Lithuania (where 4 soldiers just died), Poland, Hungary, and Romania-- the countries bordering Belarus and Western Ukraine. The US recognizes 14 special forces troops in Ukraine as well as troops at the US embassy in Kyev. That is all the information I can find online.

We previously had ten 'secret' C-A bases in Ukraine, on the border w Russia.

Colonel MacGregor claims the sophisticated targeting equipment is handled by Americans, probably also defensive weapons (Patriot, etc).

Not at first. It went military & economic aid > military advisors > troops actively fighting, All in the name of a national interest of stopping the spread of evil bad people (Communists). Change Commie for Authoritarian dictator and the potential parallels are very striking, assuming these recent reports of US boots on the ground in Ukraine are true.

Very well. Much like Big C, for me the line is troops actively fighting. If it stops at advisors, I'm not too bothered.

(And of course, the calculus would change entirely if there was a direct attack on the US or a NATO ally.)

Wow, 14 whole troops! It's a major military deployment!

As for troops at the embassy, we have security at all embassies. Probably even more so in countries at war. We wouldn't want a repeat of Benghazi, would we?

So what is your stance when:

- the advisors are killed in Ukraine?
- when NATO / US locations are hit in Ukraine?

Wouldn't warrant a major military response. We were taking the risk by helping there.

Yeah, but those advisors...bet there is a good probability they are there for the HIMARS, which apparently are quite technical and difficult to operate. I wonder what type of device would make an optimal target for Russia...yeah, a missile defense system. And if Americans are killed by Russia???

If you open X and comb through the comments you learn there are reports it's possibly people who lived and worked in the US then repatriated to Ukraine. At average payment of 1770 it takes <200 people to reach the monthly payout. The graph is fishy being so linear but this may be legit

Here's a Grok summary of the Grok summary:

Matt and Walter analyze a New York Times article by Adam Entous revealing extensive U.S. involvement in the Ukraine war, portraying it as a proxy conflict with Russia tightly controlled by American officials. The article admits to crossing Russian "red lines," risking nuclear war (up to a 50% chance), and a dysfunctional U.S.-Ukraine partnership marked by bizarre communication methods and mutual blame.

Published after Trump's 2024 election win, it shifts blame to Ukraine for the war's failures, contradicting Biden's public denials of deep involvement. The hosts decry the deception, escalation (including late missile strikes into Russia), and the article's framing of the war as a useful "experiment," seeing it as a scandalous betrayal of an ally and a threat to humanity, likely released to preempt further revelations. They urge distrust in the U.S. government and media.

You are skeptical of the 1k number but note that Putin issued a mandatory conscription order (?) earlier this week. That - and using NK and Syrian troops - doesn't happen for no reason.

It's truly amazing, 3 years into this war, how much propaganda is still being thrown around.

"War translated" aka Dmitri was the go-to Twitter account of our dearly departed poster Unit2Sucks.

Also,

-The number of N. Koreans or Syrians in this war is insignificant. The NKs have participated in small numbers in order to acquire an understanding of modern drone warfare, and for the Russians, to signal to NATO that in case of an all-out war NK and its 1.3 million standing army would participate.

-Russian KIAs over the course of this war (over 1,100 days) have averaged less than 100 per day, according to BBC's Mediazona https://en.zona.media/article/2025/03/28/casualties_eng-trl

In fact the more recent losses over 2025 have been around 55-70 Russian KIA per day.

It's amazing that 3 years into this we are still being lied to that much on the basic proceedings of this war.

It's hilarious that you criticized Unit2Sucks for having a go to Twitter account right after you posted a tweet from your go to Twitter account, Lord Bebo.

Content and accuracy matter, and this is a very good example of Ukraine war propaganda, "War traslated/Dmitri" is being deceptive here, and getting exposed by Bebo, in case you haven't noticed.

Lord Bebo so proudly uses the word "ret@rded" *that he should have wrapped lights around it. There is nothing more liberating than when boorish conduct gets let out of its cage and exacts vengeance.

If the EU and American citizens knew the actual status of the war, they'd push harder for peace. Yet now we have Teflon Mark saying Ukraine will be a part of NATO - criminally stupid. But this is the continent that shut down nuclear power and invited in dissimilar, sexually violent, repressed cultures.

Most insidiously, talking about "Ukraine joining NATO after the war in over", which is the best way to make sure that it doesn't end.

This is a real life manifestation of not integrating people's language and culture. Until immigrants are connected to a country they cannot be counted on to help defend its interests.
