Earth to helltopay: Yes, they lied to us. They all do. So do your beloved right wing pundits. So does Donald Trump, everyone in the Trump family, Ron DeSantis, Marjorie Taylor Greene and all the GOP politicians. So do the Democrats. They all lie to us. Every. Single. One. Take everything with a grain or a few boulders of salt.

Trust no one.

If Trump didn't collude with Russia why did he obstruct the investigation?

Why didn't Trump place his assets in a blind trust when he became president?

What business deals did Jared do during his time in the Trump administration?

Why did Kushner meet with the Saudis about refinancing 666 Fifth Avenue on the eve of the 2016 election and then continue to meet privately with MBS for the entirety of the Trump administration and cover for him when he murdered an American journalist and chopped him up with bone saws?

Why did Kushner negotiate with Chinese financiers for 666 Fifth Avenue?

Why did Kushner meet with Qataris in 2017 to finance 666 Fifth Avenue? Did their rejection of him lead to the Trump blockade of Qatar? Why did Qatar ultimately bail Kushner out of his debt burden in 2018?

Why did Kushner lose his security clearance? Why did Trump restore it?

Why did Ivanka receive all those Chinese trademarks after Trump's election?

Why are the Trumps barred from operating charities?

Why did Trump settle a fraud lawsuit for Trump U?

Why did Eric Trump claim that they got all the money they needed from Russia?

Why did Trump get rid of his translator in order to meet with Putin privately in Helsinki?

Why did Trump hold back military aid to Ukraine?

Why is is that Trump accuses every member of his administration of wrongdoing and yet claim that he only hires the best?

Why have so many of Trump's associates committed felonies and gone to jail (or been pardoned by him)?

Why does his family plead the 5th so often if they've done nothing wrong?

Why don't you care about any of this while you pretend to care about Hunter Biden?

Hey, I'm just asking questions here.

I think we all know the answer and it's not that everyone else is stupid.

Yeah, those stupid Americans support energy independence (which Biden gave away day one shutting down all drilling on federal lands as well as the keystone pipeline), low unemployment (especially record low black and latino unemployment), low rates, low inflation and much stricter border enforcement, even if it's at the direction of a narcissist with mean tweets that drive you all crazy.

How many of those things were true in January 2021? How many of those things was Trump responsible for?

If you aren't one of the stupid Americans, please also explain to us precisely how the Keystone pipeline would result in lower gas prices at the pump or our energy independence?

If you aren't one of the stupid Americans, please also explain how Trump would have stopped inflation?

Huh?

The Biden Administration put 80 million acres of the Gulf of Mexico up for auction last November.
The 80 million acres on sale is expected to produce around 1.1 billion barrels of oil and 4.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas over the next 50 years. - - - It's was the LARGEST FEDERAL OFFSHORE AUCTION IN HISTORY.

Did it ever occur to you that that $2.2 Trillion Spending Bill (CARES Act) that Trump bragged about signing into law may have had something to do with inflation . . . during a time of supply chain issues?

"Phase 4 (canceled)
The proposed Keystone XL pipeline would start from the same area in Alberta, Canada, as the Phase 1 pipeline.[28] The Canadian section would consist of 526 kilometres (327 mi) of new pipeline.[41] It would enter the United States at Morgan, Montana, and travel through Baker, Montana, where American-produced oil would be added to the pipeline; then it would travel through South Dakota and Nebraska, where it would join the existing Keystone pipelines at Steele City, Nebraska.[8] This phase generated the greatest controversy because of its routing over the Sandhills in Nebraska.[105][106][107]

In 2015, President Barack Obama blocked the project, causing TC Energy to instigate a US $15 billion lawsuit under NAFTA.[108]

On January 24, 2017, President Donald Trump took action intended to permit the pipeline's completion, whereupon TC Energy suspended their NAFTA Chapter 11 action.[108]

On January 18, 2018, TransCanada announced they had secured commitments to ship 500,000 barrels (79,000 m3) per day for 20 years.[109]

On January 20, 2021, President Joe Biden revoked the permit for the pipeline on his first day in office.[110] On June 9, 2021, the project was abandoned by TC Energy.[22][23]"

The first 3 phases of the Keystone Pipeline are OPEN and have been in service.
Keystone XL was terminated by Biden because of environmental issues in Nebraska.

Canadian tar sand crude is very much different than conventional crude oil.
It has to be heated up in order to travel through a pipeline, which puts the risk at causing a leak at 2.5 to 3X that of conventional oil. It's refining yield isnt at a 1:1 rate as conventional oil given its bitumen properties.

But it still gets transported into the United States via rail-car, to either be refined or EXPORTED out of the U.S.

But Trumpanzees are too dumb to know this.
They act like the cancellation of Keystone XL actually prevented Canadian Tar Sand oil from getting into the U.S.

LOL!

Doesn't help how? There is a global market for oil. It's nice to say we don't rely on foreign oil but unless we prohibit US oil from being exported, the price we pay at the pump will ALWAYS be controlled by OPEC.

If you read the article I posted earlier or do some research on the global oil markets you will see what what Diablo and I are saying makes sense. If we produce "too much" oil for domestic use, it will not drive down prices substantially but will result in greater exports.

Don't get me wrong, there may be some benefit to that for national security (in the event of an actual war, embargo, etc) and our economy (small GDP boost from producing more oil) but it's not the path to cheap gas that many are simplistically arguing. All of the oil that would have come with phase 4 of Keystone is making it to market, just through a different path. The reason our gas prices went up is because it became harder for Russian oil to get to market worldwide, not because of anything US specific.

You've fallen prey to Republican gaslighting (pun intended) but don't seem to understand how the market works. That's on you.

Wow, you certainly dubiously frame other people's arguments into black and white arguments to bolster whatever position you have. That's on you.

Regardless, there are many factors, but this is from EIA.

"What determines the cost of crude oil?
The cost of crude oil is the largest component of the retail price of gasoline, and the cost of crude oil as a share of the retail gasoline price varies over time and across regions of the country. Many factors affect crude oil prices; learn about seven major factors that influence crude oil prices in What Drives Crude Oil Prices? Increases in U.S. oil production in the past several years have helped reduce upward pressure on oil and gasoline prices."
