Because up until the Woke movement I'm not even sure it was done beyond some rare, unique case.

It went from rarely done procedures to mature adults after years and years of in depth counseling; to a hip cool movement with school counselors, schools, new laws and medical schools apparently supporting and profiting from it.

1. Woke = wise, aware, informed. So, every time idiots use it derisively as an insult, I interpret the term user as a dope. Just so you know, I'm not alone. Being woke is a compliment.

2. You also never heard about gays in the 60's, but they existed.
Your fear of how others live their lives reflects upon you. Like, what the hell do you care ? You wouldn't care if these strangers rotted in jail for stealing bread, so maybe you could just settle down rather than sit in judgment. Live and let live.
Your body your choice...except for vaccine mandate
Live and let live is fine...except when one person's right abuts another person's rights (trans in bathrooms, drag queens in schools).
Are there rights to not be exposed to lifestyles that disturb you?

Nobody wants to face up to the transgender discrimination Rudolph has faced. None of Santa's reindeers would let poor Rudolph join in their reindeer games? Hello?

Also, what about Olive the other reindeer? She's nearly been wiped from the books.

I suspect you have never spoken to an individual experiencing it, or a parent of a child experiencing it.
If you had, you wouldn't think others were selling or glamorizing it. It's the individual who puts it upon parents, not the other way around.

I've seen this ad like a thousand times.

I assumed that, well, Newsom is popular, that means he should lift this dude up (Newsom, I believe, didn't endorse anybody else in the L.A. area. (He didn't endorse for mayor because, he said, he didn't want to pick between Democrats. Even though one candidate was a Republican like a year ago and even though Obama and Biden campaigned with the actual Dem.)

Also, I saw zero ads from this dude's opponent.

So here are the election results so far:

As for another election:

If you know who Fred Savage is, that's his little brother Ben, who starred in Boy Meets World.

A star-studded ballot for sure!

Lauren Meister starred in Gossip Girl and is now married to Adam Brody.

John Duran was a member of a famous 80s band.

Adam Darvish used to pitch for the Dodgers.

And of course you know who Steve Martin is.

Latest House projection by NBC: 219-216, Repubs. Fox currently has it 217-205, with R's leading a handful of the 13 remaining races. I suspect it will end up with R's having somewhere between 219 and 221 seats. The House gavel doesn't come in small, medium and large sizes. If you control the House you control the House.

Things have looked bleak for Rs since Tuesday. And they will have to navigate choppy waters with the slim majority that gives factions more power. But Biden and D's are in for a rude awakening, too. Biden's statement that he isn't changing anything and he has a Veto pen...good luck with that.

Honestly? Politically it might be better for Dems to not control the House with such a slim majority. People can just watch as McCarthy tries to wrangle his clown car of MAGA crazies and blue state moderates into something resembling a governing coalition. Or else he'll have to partner with Dems to maintain leadership and then get attacked by Trump.

Biden won't have to veto anything, no bills are getting passed without Schumer and McConnell agreeing on it.

We will have government shutdown threats, etc. but there is roughly zero chance that Biden has to veto anything in the next 2 years.

If Kevin McCarthy becomes the House Speaker he's gonna wind-up prostituting himself to the far-right extremist wing of the GOP. - - - Mark my words, this is gonna be a political nightmare for McCarthy.
And he'll wind up being the shortest speaker of the House on record.

People thought that John Boehner had his work cut out for him dealing with the Tea Party.
That's gonna be like a "walk in the park" compared to what Kevin McCarthy is in for.

Boehner specifically blamed these groups for dragging Republican lawmakers into a dubious plan to defund the federal health care law that led to a disastrous government shutdown last fall. Boehner said he was outraged when one group that engineered the failed plot admitted that they never thought it would work in the first place.

"They pushed us into this fight to defund Obamacare and to shut down the government. Most of you know, my members know, that wasn't exactly the strategy that I had in mind. But if you recall, the day before the government reopened, one of the people that one of these groups stood up and said, 'Well, we never really thought it would work,'" he recapped, before shouting, "Are you kidding me?!"

NH house has 400 seats?
Wow. What all do they accomplish? Who's gonna buy the pizza next time?

A recount in a New Hampshire House race has narrowed Republicans' already slim partisan advantage in the Legislature.

Democrat Maxine Mosley finished 23 votes behind Republican incumbent Larry Gagne on Election Day, but after Monday's recount, in which she picked up two votes and Gagne lost 22, she eked out a one-vote win.

That outcome cuts the Republican majority in the 400-member House of Representatives to just four seats. If that margin stands, it would be the slimmest New Hampshire House majority in more than 80 years.

Leaders in both parties say, regardless of how the 20 outstanding recounts go, the razor-thin partisan split could affect everything from policy to who lawmakers choose to be the next House Speaker.

Your body your choice...except for vaccine mandate
Do you really think these things are equivalent or is that you just thinking you are being clever and have unlocked a logical inconsistency?

You have so many false narratives embedded into that equation that is hard to unpack the idiocy.

In the case of a pregnant woman, what she is carrying is not a human being by any biological definition for the vast majority of abortions. So the decision she makes is completely autonomous. It is her exercising a decision and right for herself and her future. This is not a social issue and it has no "harm" implications for society. Religious claims on abortion should be a non-starter and criminal claims of "murder" are tenuous and would lead to whole host of prosecutions that I think no one would advocate for. So, simply, this is her decision for her life with no effect on another human being (even if define a fetus as a human being, no human being has the right to use another body, there is no special set of rights for a fetus to use another human being).

In the case of the vaccine (and I don't remember being forced to get injected), this is a decision we make as a society to protect the society at large. Your individual decision DOES have consequences for others.

And this puts aside that a woman forced to childbirth has been forced to potentially risk her own life where as a person "forced" to get a vaccine is having their life potentially saved.

Your "argument" is really as disunited and incoherent as: "Your car your choice to drive...except seatbelts." Because we let people self-determine their life in balance with the effects of those choices on society at large. There is no hypocrisy, it's exactly what we do when we establish rights and make laws.

I am sure on the right wing twitter loop, this sentiment scores points, but where there are thinking persons, it is a real stinker.

Your argument about collectively choosing to protect others is flawed, as even the CDC acknowledges the vaccine does not prevent transmission (your vaccine position applied to Roe would be roughly the equivalent to requiring condoms during all sexual encounters...it decreases the spread of semen but does not fully prevent it). On the other hand, being vaccinated does profoundly decrease one's own risk of dying or being hospitalized. The corollary to Roe is valid because in both instances the primary factor at play is one's autonomy over their own body for their own medical outcome.

Maybe you could highlight where I said the vaccine prevents transmission. Because what I thought I said is that increases the public safety--as in fewer people die when they have had the vaccine. My critique of your weak false equivalence was around the balance of personal autonomy/rights and public safety (as in limiting deaths NOT transmission). Nice diversion.

No the corollary sucks and is a BS talking point as I very directly showed, you repeating it doesn't make it awesome.
