Nah, it needs the educated vote (which it mostly has) and to gain some more of the uneducated vote. See the inroads that the Dems are making in the midwest and Penn. More educated coming in, less red happening. It's happening BearFarce

The shift in the Democrats from a blue-collar, working class whites to more college educated whites has been interesting. Even when I was in my teens in the 80s, Democrats were viewed more along the lines of unions, rust belt, middle class workers. Republicans were more the educated, wealthy elitists with more refined tastes and views. It may be that universities are both a great way for people to view a broader scope of cultures and experiences as well as the heavily liberal tilt of the universities, but college educated whites are now a greater percentage of Democrats than Republicans. Doesn't necessarily mean they act liberal (no need to look beyond the VC crowd or the Hollywood crowd that they do not live out their beliefs) but they definitely affiliate themselves as liberal. In addition, I think people are just generally more educated now than before, especially with middle class jobs decreasing and women enrolling in colleges at a greater rate. Somehow, somewhere, the Republican party went from being the elitist, educated, refined to uneducated, middle class whites with the Democrats becoming more white elitist, educated and employed. Strange dynamic.

Republican Party got in bed with religious nutjobs.

Sure, there are some wealthy and powerful people who are deeply religious, but most of them are undereducated.

If the GOP returned to caring about white collar job creation, tax cuts, and small government it might be more popular but instead they are focused on drag queens, abortions, and people being "woke" whatever the hell that means in the context they use it.

I don't understand these folks who say religious folks are uneducated. I think maybe folks in the rural areas are less educated, but I would put my education up against anyone here. I would put the education of folks from my church against the collective education here.

Some of the nonsense I read here from folks who write as if they are experts but are clearly ignorant, whether law, finance, etc., demonstrates to me that folks here are not educated or informed as a collective to such a level that they can continue to say religious folks or any groups are undereducated. It reminds me of newbie "tough" guys coming into our MMA studio who think they are so good at fighting only because they don't realize how much better others are.

I honestly can say that most of the religious people I know in my life do not suffer from lack of knowledge, education or wisdom.

I suspect most of the idiots committing those stupid crimes, getting into fights over kids' sports, etc. are ignorant atheists. Should we judge all non-religious folks based on that and say how ignorant non-religious folks are?

The problem with you complaining about the Republican party getting in bed with religious people is that Democrats have turned away Christians, even those who focus on helping the poor, etc. Most folks I know do not focus on gay rights or social warfare. They focus on their own relationship with Christ and thinking about how they worship by showing grace to others, even if they fail quite often to do so. But look at the liberals here. The open bigotry and cheering of the bigotry against Christians and Catholics is clear. Never mind that the reasons they state for their bigotry apply to other religion that they do not mock for fear of losing their liberal credentials. I would actually respect someone with courage like Bill Maher who take a stand against all religion. But most of religious bigots are cowards who act like bullies, showing bigotry only against group they think are safe to discriminate and are in constant fear that they may accidentally mock the wrong group.

Trump criticizes Evangelical leaders for not backing his 2024 presidential bid

Trump's comments to conservative journalist David Brody in a podcast interview Monday, in which he decried the "disloyalty" of evangelical leaders who have withheld public support for his campaign, were the latest in a series of bewildering remarks he's made about one of the most critical voting blocs in a Republican primary.

"Nobody has ever done more for Right to Life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices, who all voted, and they got something that they've been fighting for 64 years, for many, many years,'" Trump told Brody, referring to the Supreme Court's overturning of federal abortion rights in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision last summer.

"There's great disloyalty in the world of politics and that's a sign of disloyalty," Trump continued, bemoaning evangelical leaders who have declined to support his latest campaign.

What more could they want after Trump got 3 conservatives appointed to SCOTUS?

I've got to hand it to you.
You sure know how to "cherry" pick an interview of one journalist from 45 years ago.

You must have been "unhappy" that Barack Obama served as our 44th President for not just one term, but two.
I've noticed that you never seem to post about him.
Was he "white" to you?

Was that your REALITY?

I wonder why most black people vote for Democrats? Note that the Republican Supreme Court surprised everybody with this ruling but the Republican Justices voted 2-4 against fairness for black voters and the liberal Justices voted 3-0 in favor of fairness for black voters.

"In the summer of 1978, MOVE members reached a deal with the city: they would turn over their weapons and leave their building if the city would release several MOVE members from city jails. The city honored the terms of the deal, but MOVE didn't leave the building.

On Aug. 8, 1978, the tension reached what seemed like its peak. The police attempted to forcibly remove MOVE from the building with water cannons and battering rams and were met, in return, with gunfire from the building's basement. During the confrontation, an officer named James Ramp was shot, fell to the ground, and died. Sixteen other police officers and firefighters were injured in the standoff."

Not justifying the MOVE bombing, but it is crazy that we had an armed and barricaded cult living in a dense neighborhood for years while their neighbors complained of nuisance.

Charlie's showing why he's not a mathematician or an accountant. The report says there were 354 gunshot victims in 2022 (and 56 deaths). 83% of the gunshot victims were black. That means 294 of the gunshot victims were black. The 2020 census says there were 80,114 black people in Minneapolis. Simple division shows that there was 1 gunshot victim for every 272.5 black people. That's still pretty bad, but it's 55% lower than what your extremist right wing troll is claiming.

Also, the gun crime map shows that the vast majority of the gun crimes are occurring in two areas of Minneapolis that apparently correspond to the hood. Most of Minneapolis had little in the way of gun related crimes. It isn't all a shooting gallery.

There were 398 gunshot victims in 2021 vs 354 in 2022. That's certainly not going to end up 55% higher than the 2022 number I worked out. It was much lower than either of those years in 2019 and I can't find the data for 2020 in that report.

It is not Charlie's math. It is a statistic stated in the report, even if you really really really really want it not to be there because you feel like it is wrong.

"83% of shooting victims are Black.
9% White, 4% Native American, 3% Unk, 1% Asian
89% of shooting suspects are described as Black in cases
where suspect descriptions were provided.
In 2021, there was 1 Black shooting victim for every 150 Black
residents of Minneapolis.
The metric for White residents was 1 Shooting victim for every 3,768
residents
Black community members are disproportionately represented in
shooting victim data
2/3 of our shooting victims are under the age of 31"
