False. The Project was funded, but then government administrators and six-figure water "experts" failed to plan for historic inflation, leaving citizens and proponents "blindsided". It was seen as the easiest water expansion project. And of coarse extremist environmental groups did their best to chip away at the benefits - the death by a hundreds cuts approach.

With a massive state budget with surpluses in some years, Gavin Newsom and others did nothing to bring it across the finish line. No leadership.

This is another of the ongoing contradictions with the radical Left. They bring in millions of legal and illegal immigrants, yet they don't increase our water sources, baseline energy, sewage treatment, fire suppression, etc. Meanwhile, water prices skyrocket. They push for some of the best farmland in the world to go fallow, causing new cases of respiratory problems. Newsom has spent over $20 Billion on the train to nowhere, $20 Billion on open drug bazaars (aka homeless), and tens of Billions for illegal immigrants, but can't free up a few hundred million for a Reservoir expansion or large-scale fire supression. (All the while, haphazardly and catastrophically using bond money we voted for water storage to rip out functioning dams.)

P.S. When will we get a real reasoning on why over 20 whales have died in our (polluted?) waters.

I've never heard of fire prevention and suppression used as a reason for reservoir construction or expansion. Possibly it could be if the reservoir is near an urban area but, in general, it's a minor consideration at best.
