The one thing that is mitigating the Russian response is that almost all of the attacks by ATACMs or Scalp/Storm Shadow missiles have been intercepted.

The President elect met with Biden and he met with Zelensky. The President elect is now silent about the situation with only a few of his talking pets squeak barking. Suffering in silence is not one of his characteristics.

The Donald knew this was coming, knew it was strictly a bargain chip and if he was wholly adverse to it both he and Musk would be shrieking bloody murder from the church tower.

Biden's move on missiles for Ukraine angers Trump allies - BBC News

"For months I have called on President Biden to remove these restrictions," Representative Michael R. Turner of Ohio, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said in a statement. "President Biden should have listened to President Zelensky's pleas much earlier."

The approval of missiles has no effect on the consequence of the war other than escalation- it is for escalation not strategic reasons. Putin in response will escalate and the Ukrainians will suffer more and lose more territory.

That's the bottom line, the Russians have been pounding power stations in Ukraine in retaliation, this coming winter is going to be a lot harder for the average Ukrainian civilian than the previous two, where the daily lives in central or eastern parts were virtually unaffected.

Also, there are reports of Russian soldiers executing Ukrainian POWs in Kursk.

Try to imagine a scenario where Russia is firing missiles into the United States through a proxy. Would you still have a cavalier attitude then?

I'll have an opinion on that if and when it actually happens. Who do you think is going to directly attack the US?

Nation-stateless terrorists and bots.
I recall this being a threat long before Russia and Ukraine were fighting.

Call up the National Guard. Send Walz over there. Maybe he'll finally learn how to operate a firearm.

I'm all about negotiation: How about Ukraine tells Putin that they will stop firing US-made missiles into territory that Russia currently occupies, if Putin sends his WW III North Korean troops back home (they can have one last big meal before departing).

After that, NATO can tell Putin that Ukraine will never join, provided the Russian troops get the heck out of 50% of whatever they've occupied and Russia honors Ukraine's sovereignty.

So simple!

So, you're giving Russia 50% ?
Wow.

Not sure about the percentages, maybe 50%. I feel like Russia's in the driver's seat now, with the way the war is going and us starting to get sick of this (plus Trump coming in).

Ideally, they would get nothing, but that's not realistic, at this point. So I'd give them just enough for Putin to feel like he can claim it was worth it.

Since you are a self professed Critical Thinker Extraordinaire, can you please link a story quoting the President elect himself criticizing the green lighting of the long range missiles by Ukraine (barking by his collection of talking pets doesn't count).

The left don't bother to wear their Ukraine pins anymore. They've moved on to the next new thing.

We don't have a new thing yet. We are cocooning and bickering amongst ourselves. Somebody suggested a listening tour... we'll see after this atmospheric river subsides. (buddy o' mine started his listening tour today, but his Prius got trapped on a road that had 18 inches of water and now the engine and the motor are both frozen) My "next new thing" might be New Zealand for a couple of months. Try and get those kiwis to woke up.

Tell me, what do you stand for in life?
What is your value system?
What do you aspire to achieve and what do you hope is said about you after you're gone? If you have children, what non financial legacy will they say you left behind, in terms of values.

Where the hell did that happen to your friend??? I don't think it's raining too much. This river isn't striking us too bad where we are at.

I made up that entire post, for satire's sake, but there were a number of cars that went kaput trying to make it through 18-24 inches of water on roads the past few days (North Bay... Santa Rosa, Wine Country, etc.) More tomorrow.
