Barack Obama: "All the facts aren't in, but it's clear the police acted stupidly."

"You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon."

I learned 2 things here yesterday.

1.) Trump's staff post fake content on his Truth Social.

2.) The "average" American has equity in two homes.

Thanks!

No one has asserted Trump is a genius, but he has become legendary in resetting trade deals, historic revenue increases, reshoring manufacturing, closing the border, etc.

You conveniently ignored the part about how Donald Trump is a RACIST.
Does that not bother you for some reason?

Doesn't bother us because he's not racist.

And most of the Nation ain't buying that.

I am open to learning. In what ways does Trump's genius manifest itself?

He has a genius for saying things that resonates with the base he wants to target. It's almost incomprehensible that a New York City billionaire can gain favor with rural, blue collar folks. They actually think he is on their side! Trump the populist! The best mad men on Madison Avenue wouldn't even take on that one, but he kills it.

He has a genius for rallying support in his party and suppressing dissent. He identifies people's weaknesses, isolates those people and destroys them. Time and time again, people make the mistake of thinking, "I will be honest and tell the public what Trump really is: He's a fascist! He's a grifter! He's a bully! He's a convicted felon!" Okay, all of that stuff may be true -- and it's bad stuff -- but it doesn't phase him. The only people phased are those Republicans (and opponents) he leaves in his wake.

Make a list of the nutty, rude, mean things he has said over the past 10+ years, things that would sink any other politician. The John McCain thing. The "ingesting disinfectant" thing. New outrageous statements weekly! Well, he's still standing... with close to half the country supporting him. The dude is effing for Russia, for crying out loud!

After the debate with Harris last fall, pundits such as James Carville, Bill Maher and myself thought he was done... but no! If this is not genius, then I don't know what to call it, although it's not the sort of intelligence that is measured on IQ tests.

We tend to exaggerate and stereotype a lot thanks to the media. Per Higher Ed.: Harris got 56% of the college age vote, but that means 44% - a ton of college educated folks - still voted for Trump. While college-educated voters were more likely to vote for Harris than Trump across all demographics, that gap is greatest among white voters and men. Women, Black people and Hispanic people generally voted similarly regardless of their educational background.

FWIW on the urban vs rural stuff, there is some disparity, and Harris got somewhat slightly more suburban voters than Trump. But that still means Trump got a lot of urban voters and Harris still got a lot of rural voters.

And there is a problem with both exaggeration and stereotyping. When libs go off they lose credibility. Just read some of your comments. Fascist, for Russia. etc. You can't respond with disinformation and name calling just because Trump does it. You just get labeled in with Trump.

I don't expect you fully appreciate how little people believe what they hear in the media now. The damage the media did in the last election by hiding Biden's health issues may have been determinative of the election.

Add to that that liberal critics and even Joe Biden use stereotypes to condescendingly dismiss Trump voters, implying that a large portion (or in the case of many BI posters all) of the country is not "mentally fit" to vote. Just read a Gold. Wags or Beaersiter post sometime. What a great way to not persuade half the country and lose elections. Trump's base is not monolithic, and includes a mix of economic, cultural, and even status-driven motivations. That 40 plus percent of college educated voters don't think they are stupid. Trump gets that. People like Gold, Wags and Bearsiter don't. if you are going to fight an election based on demonizing a guy and people who vote for him rather than having better ideas and arguing with substance, in the words of the Beatles, you ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow.

I hatevto break this to you, but the demonization train left the station a long time ago.

There's a 54% disapproval rating just one year in with many of the black, Hispanic, and independent voters that voted for him jumping ship.

As the article points out, criticism of the judiciary also is a strategy of the left and Judges and their families have been caught up in that. Just read some Bearsiter's threads on the courts sometime. And you know, Bearsiter like everyone else including the President, has the right to express their opinions on our courts - and some of the time I even agree with Bearsiter's take. The courts have to decide a lot of politically charged issues and even federal judges are guilty of deciding cases by following their own political biases. They don't get a free pass because some nut job (and the guy was an extremist nut job) killed Judge Salas' child and I might add put several bullets into her husband..
DiabloWags
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I guess you skipped over the retired Republican Judge John Jones who was appointed by Bush who said that what the Left has done doesnt even remotely come close to what he's seen over the past year from MAGA.

Last year, Federal Marshall's said there were 400 serious threats targeting Federal Judges. A 78% increase from 4 YEARS AGO.

Its not even close.
You might want to run the tape back.

I can understand why you wouldn't want the President that you voted for to be called a fascist. But the President that you voted for was subsequently voted out of office and he tried to overturn the Constitution and overturn an election he lost.

I couldn't care less about why you voted for him a second time. That was irrelevant to my post and who I voted for 46 years ago and your original question.

And you wonder why we say you sure sound like a Trump supporter.
You didn't vote for him, but you (attempt to) make sense out of the nonsensical. And you BLAME rationality for his support.

It's incredible!

At the end of the day, to me, the Trump phenomenon speaks Very Lowly of mankind. That such an animal could appeal to the very wide portions of people that you've accurately mentioned makes little sense other than to say

Some humans are racist - white.
Some humans are sexist - men.
Some humans are attracted to aggression and hate speech, the kind heard on the playground.
Some humans are lured by cons.
Some humans (staffers at all levels) will bury their ideals in order to feel they've achieved something notable. Resumes.
Some humans follow the crowd, whatever herd they have around them.

(You may have noticed, these are all very base motivations. Not highly developed prefrontal cortex stuff!)

Add all that up, and you get a broad measure of "support". But it ain't rational according the any of the ideals and aspirations I lift up on higher ground.

But hell! We've seen this before throughout history. In Germany, a majority of the country was for that movement. In the US South, a majority of that (white, controlling power) population was pro slavery.

So, why be surprised that some intellectuals are going to try and have it make sense, actually blaming those who decry it.

It's really quite a thing to be blamed for causing something simple because you decry it. As if the decrying is the cause.

Oh, please, respond.
I wanna see where this goes.
My simpleton shock and horror can't wait to be chewed apart and reorganized into something that makes better sense of this futile location I find myself at, because if this (Trump) is what American can produce, then what's the point in trying to tackle all the difficult things?

I'd like to ask JFK that question. He'd have something inspiring to greet me with this morning!!!

Having lived at 1401 N Oak Street, we'd have had a commanding view of this proposed construction.

The dude in the video makes some fair points. That's a really stupid idea. There is NOTHING around there except GW parkway roads. Such arches become gathering places for pedestrians. You'd have to redesign the entire area to allow for shops and benches.

He tossed the grave of his children's mother in a patch of grass on his golf course so he could take advantage of tax laws, and then acquires prestigious real estate in order to honor himself.
Makes sense for this pig!
