The PCE is currently running at 3.7%

For those unaware, the Personal Consumption Expenditures index is the Fed's preferred inflation gauge.

Entirely different point than I was making. I was talking about the grocery store prices mentioned above.

is this not a reply to any specific either even though it clearly is a reply?

you've been doing that a lot after your last TO, responding right under someone's post without actually replying to their post.

It was funny seeing Trump go on a MELTDOWN after the Fed raised rates today .... saying that rates should be only 1% or less.

You just cant make this stuff up.

Nobody was complaining about the reasonable inflation of Trump's first year in 2025 that he inherited from Biden. It is 2026 inflation caused by Trump's war of choice that is the problem. Extending the metric over 2025 is just obfuscation over the poor performance from Trump's actions. Yes, we can all agree that inflation was reasonable when Trump's 2nd term started. We don't need multiple pages to hash out this attempt to obfuscate what is happening now under Trump.

Trump's 1st term inflation was good but let's not forget he lost 3 million jobs. The worst jobs performance since Herbert Hoover.

I think it's pretty obvious who has experience in the markets and a solid knowledge base in monetary policy and the economy and those that . . . rely on Ai.

Never mind an insane President who thinks short term rates should be at 1% or less.

Question: Where do you think the Fed Funds Rate should be?

Do you agree with Trump that it should be 1% or less?

Dramatically lower than 3.75 - 4.00%?

If so, why?

I think rates should have been raised the .25% but almost entirely on the basis of oil prices. The rest of the economy is fairing pretty well currently.

The Fed's statement described economic activity as expanding at a "solid pace," domestic spending as resilient, production growth as strong, capital investment as robust and unemployment as little changed.

Thank Trump for tax cuts.

The One Big Beautiful Bill locked in the largest tax cut in modern history, including the doubled standard deduction, the expanded Child Tax Credit, and 100 percent expensing for factories and equipment. It also delivered No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, an abolition of most taxes on Social Security benefits, and major relief for seniors.

Every Democrat voted no. With the 2017 act set to expire in December 2025, that would have resulted in the largest tax hike in American history.
