One was a child who died from something entirely different than measles but tested positive after death. The other we know next to nothing about, as far as I've seen. In the bigger picture though, the whole business model of data centers is based on the highly inflated AI bubble and might not even be sustainable from an economic basis. Local municipalities are going to be left out hanging if the bubble pops.

I think that is the real concern those local communities have with new data centers going up. They've seen it before, a company promising to build a factory and getting the local investment and then disappearing at the last minute. They don't want to be left holding the bag again.

I don't think the AI CEOs' talk about how their product is going to eliminate a bunch of jobs is helping either. Worst sales pitch ever.

In a similar vein, remember back in 2017, then-President Donald Trump announced a $10 billion investment by Foxconn for a manufacturing facility in WISCONSIN.

By 2021, Foxconn abandoned most of its plans and never delivered on the promise to bring 13,000 new jobs.

When it comes to data centers, local communities have every right to be skeptical.
If they weren't, they would be found negligent by taxpayers and sued.
