You should have been rebalancing all along back into EM. But better late than never. Half my stock investments are in foreign ETFs which include a large chunk of EM. After almost 10 years of underperformance I finally feel like this was a reasonable portfolio move. With all my ramblings on this I still abide but the tried and true investing rule: nobody knows nuthin'

I'm not a pro - but with all the corruption issues particularly during times of fast growth, I still feel like the US will stay ahead based on infrastructure and stability. I definitely keep feet in X-US coverage, but I feel like Greece will drop further as they are still riding out old infrastructure and turning things around. Don't want to monitor it so I will just stay the path and not make any special allocations and let VXUS do its thing.

When I say our democracy is at risk the progress of these kinds of things, which can lead to voter suppression, is exactly what I am talking about (along with other things). Some have argued that voter suppression tactics in Wisconsin and Michigan led to the unexpected results of the 2016 election. I haven't looked closely enough at that to know if I agree. But these kinds of panels are very alarming to those of us that question Trump's motives.

Yes, whipping up xenophobia and vote tampering definitely could be a path towards instituting policies that will increase government opacity and manipulate/deny the civil right to vote.

"I was going to fire Comey," Trump told NBC News' Lester Holt in an interview. "Regardless of the recommendation I was going to fire Comey."

I like reading Dajo's comments, very informative and insightful. Though you're right he never concedes. Ever. That being said, 99% of posters here never concede. Ever.

It's very presidential don't you think?

If I had any role in the office of the press secretary, I would just quit. They constantly have to spin some blatant lie only to have the POTUS or someone else in the administration saying something else (usually another blatant lie). Not worth the hit to credibility. Most people would just accept the truth. These communication personnel have to be thinking about their future after their service and about their legacy. It started on Day 1 with the inauguration and has continued non-stop since then. This is getting to a third-world country BS with the lack of credibility. The news media isn't helping the people have faith in the veracity of what they hear, but this is getting ridiculous.

Trump sure makes it easy to be suspicious of him and his administration. You'd think 100 days in they'd figure out how to message.

If I was Trump, I'd rather have the media talking about him and Comey than his disastrous health care bill, the arming of Syrian rebels or his son in law's pay for citizenship Chinese deal

Are you breaking news here? Doesn'tAaron Rodgers need to get marrried and divorced before he can have an ex wife who will be press secretary?

In all seriousness, I think Trump likes this Huckabee clown and she's most likely to replace Spicy. I doubt it's Guilfoyle but who knows.

I agree with cb93 - they are in an indefensible position and I have a mixture of empathy and schadenfreude at their situation.

The health care thing peaked last week and was already dying down by Tuesday.

The Jared story peaked over the weekend into Monday, and was dying down on Tuesday.

The Syrian rebels thing wasn't really a hot media topic.

The Comey story took the place of what was supposed to be what Trump staffers expected to be an uneventful week (according to one account I read).

UPDATE: Here's the source of that last sentence:

You're thinking like the media which is a mistake- nobody outside of the beltway cares what the media think. The health care issue is still a big issue among the populace, the others less so I'd agree, though the Syria issue should be huge if theDemocrats or media was engaged.. Plus Trump is more comfortable being Trump than discussing policies, which he knows little about. Like Bill Clinton he is helped by opposition party leaders that are not too strategic or bright. The Comey issue will be ephemeral as well.

If nobody outside the beltway cares about the media, then they prob won't listen to the media talk about how it's going to suck for them. And the media they do listen to is selling it as a win.

There is news and there is fake news. Which is which depends on what you want to hear. Both sides of the aisle suffer from hearing only what they want to hear and thinking the other side is crazy. This isn't a Republican issue or a Democrat issue. And arguing which side is worse is like two people eating crap and arguing which one smells worse. Pathetic state where people view opinions as truth and, therefore, they are never wrong and they never learn. We have bunch of people who are no smarter today than they were yesterday or last year because they think they know everything they need to know already and don't need to consider other perspective or give an inch. Because their opinion is the truth, why even consider other viewpoint?

I agree. Which is why I don't think that having the media cover the healthcare bill even more will do much of anything. If anything, I think more MSM coverage of the healthcare bill will only persuade people in the rustbelt of what they already think.

I could spend my time posting platitudes as well, but everybody here knows you are as unlikely to concede something as I am.

I am pretty direct, unyielding, and sometimes dismissive (all traits I studied and learned from the late 90's early 2000's right wing noise machine) but at least I don't split my time sometimes telling people they are inferior and sometimes being sanctimonious.

Seems like we in the US have our own Baghdad Bob. Who kept issuing reports during the Iraqi War regarding successes by Hussein only to have to reverse himself a few hours later.
Where is Rosanne Rosannadanna when we need her. She would make a great press secretary for Trump: "Never Mind."

I think the healthcare bill will be heard loud and clear by the rustbelt if they have to feel the results of what passed the House. I believe the Senate will be a bit more reasoned and be aware of the fallout. News is not the answer or the problem (maybe part of the problem with people shouting at each other passing as news). People didn't even know that Obamacare and ACA were one and the same. They claimed to like ACA but hate Obamacare. I am hopeful that what we get is something that is a bit more of a fix than the crap that have been proposed.

If you are just talking about how you felt at the BEGINNING of the Benghazi investigation, then I do understand.

I do, however, agree with dajo that at present the two things are not equivalent, given that Benghazi was investigated multiple times and nothing found, while this Trump/Russia thing has barely begun.

I spoke of my feelings about the Benghazi matter after watching the Rice/HRC talking points, not the Benghazi investigation or situation at all. When Rice went on TV shortly thereafter (five or six Sunday morning shows) and talked of the video I felt she was lying, just like dajo and you probably think the Trump team is lying about the Russia matter. I was equating my suspicions at that time to what I suspect are yours. I was not equating the Benghazi situation to the Russia situation for that only opens a can of worms and argument again (which I think I indicated).
