Nobel prize winner for physics in 1973 Dr. Ivar Giaever resigned as a Fellow from the American Physical Society (APS) on September 13, 2011 in disgust over the group's promotion of man-made global warming fears.
Dr. Giaever wrote to Kirby of APS: "Thank you for your letter inquiring about my membership. I did not renew it because I cannot live with the (APS) statement below (on global warming): APS: 'The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth's physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.'
Giaever announced his resignation from APS was due to the group's belief in man-made global warming fears. Giaever explained in his email to APS: "In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible? The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period."
Giaever was one of President Obama's key scientific supporters in 2008. Giaever joined over 70 Nobel Science Laureates in endorse Obama in an October 29, 2008 open letter. In addition to Giaever, other prominent scientists have resigned from APS over its stance on man-made global warming. See: Prominent Physicist Hal Lewis Resigns from APS: 'Climategate was a fraud on a scale I have never seenEffect on APS position: None. None at all. This is not science'
Giaever, a former professor at the School of Engineering and School of Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, has become a vocal dissenter from the alleged "consensus" regarding man-made climate fears. He was featured prominently in the 2009 U.S. Senate Report of (then) Over 700 Dissenting International Scientists from Man-made global warming. Giaever, who is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and won the 1973 Nobel Prize for Physics.
Giaever was also one of more than 100 co-signers in a March 30, 2009 letter to President Obama that was critical of his stance on global warming. See: More than 100 scientists rebuke Obama as 'simply incorrect' on global warming: 'We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated'
Giaever is featured on page 89 of the 321 page of Climate Depot's more than 1000 dissenting scientist report (updated from U.S. Senate Report). Dr. Giaever was quoted declaring himself a man-made global warming dissenter. "I am a skepticGlobal warming has become a new religion," Giaever declared. "I am Norwegian, should I really worry about a little bit of warming? I am unfortunately becoming an old man. We have heard many similar warnings about the acid rain 30 years ago and the ozone hole 10 years ago or deforestation but the humanity is still around," Giaever explained. "Global warming has become a new religion. We frequently hear about the number of scientists who support it. But the number is not important: only whether they are correct is important. We don't really know what the actual effect on the global temperature is. There are better ways to spend the money," he concluded.
Giaever also told the New York Times in 2010 that global warming "can't be discussed just like religion, there is NO unusual rise in the ocean level, so what where and what is the big problem?"

Deemed an "untamed genius" by fellow researchers, Mullis shared a 1993 Nobel for developing a technique called polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, that allowed scientists to create millions of copies of a single DNA molecule.
It was hailed as one of the most important scientific inventions of the 20th century; a discovery that among countless other applications and research gave scientists the ability to study DNA from a 40,000-year-old frozen mammoth and helped investigators take tiny amounts of DNA to identify or exonerate crime suspects. It's the technique that Hollywood used to revive dinosaurs from fossilized DNA in the 1993 movie "Jurassic Park."

It should be understood by anyone professing an interest in climatology that the object of study has been around longer than man and the climate here has varied radically in the last 40 million years. In the Eocene carbon dioxide levels were several times higher than they are currently. The temperature was quite compatible with life from pole to pole. Until we can understand that, or how Earth moved from there to the Miocene, then the Pliocene and then the Holocene, each with its own climate, flora and fauna, we have no good reason to think we understand climate. To make predictions about what follows from here and when, and to audaciously begin the discussion by implicating our humble species in the whole thing is worse than audacious, it's pathetic.

Irony. What partisan leftists (or conservatives) refuse to see/acknowledge is they are the product of their own self-made bubbles.sycasey said:Yeah, that's the thing that gets me. I don't know. At some point an intelligent, well-informed person is bound to disagree with you. A lot of the questions that politics asks us to consider are vague, generic deal with a bunch of unknowns and are without a clear right answer. Its not math where we know 3 + 2 = 5. I agree with all of this. Except it misses the point I was making, which is that people always accuse others of being in a bubble because they read/use media that has an ideological alignment with their own without addressing the content in order to dismiss the perspective when they do the exact same thing but get to claim they're not.golden sloth said:I don't know. Ocean temperatures aren't rising significantly. We know this because ocean levels have been rising at the same rate today as 10, 20, 50 or 100 years ago. A sharp rise in ocean temperatures would have resulted in a sharp rise in sea levels due to thermal expansion.concordtom said:

Second, the article I've provided above merely quotes and lists 70+ peer-reviewed scientific papers, all of which state that sea level rise has not significantly changed over the last century.
Outlets like the BBC, LA Times and other MSM have literally banned the publication of any article which goes against the prevailing narrative of Catastrophic Anthropocentric Global Warming, as an editorial policy, which goes against the basic tenants of the scientific process.

I consider myself a movie fan in general and a Scorsese, DeNiro and Pacino fan in particular. I have seen Good Fellas, Casino, and the Departed a dozen times each and love those films. Yes, the acting in The Irishman was A+ but I did not consider it an entertaining film because: too dialogue intensive, painfully slow, and not very interesting writing.
Two films I consider first rate based on acting, writing, editing, suspense and action are No Country for Old Men and The Town. A TV series that fits into that category is the British police series Line of Duty.

They listed 5 papers from a list of 70, they provided a link to that list which you have missed. Here it is:
https://notrickszone.com/2m-higher-holocene-sea-levels/
The papaers show, among other things, that sea levels rose at a much faster rate earlier in the interglacial period back when CO2 levels were much lower.
Gosselin is a blogger, not the author of the papers he's listed. As a blogger, his credentials as an engineer are far superior to those of climate reporters from the NYT, WaPo, LAT, Guardian and the MSM, most of which typically are journalism school grads with BAs.calpoly said:This is who you believe?Cal88 said:calpoly said:They do not list 70+ papers. Gosselin is the author of the climate skeptic blog NoTrickZone.com. He said he thinks humans have a "modest" role in impacting the planet's climate, but ultimately he believes "the forces of nature overwhelm anything man puts out." Gosselin owns a small business involving communication work for various industries. He has an associate degree in civil engineering from Vermont Technical College and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona, according to his website.
