It is surprising. But from reading an article it sounds like she went Karen-mode on security and police. That probably didnt help her situation. We must never challenge authority.

Right. I get it. Never challenge authority, not even in BLM protests, or if the authority is wearing an ICE uniform, and especially never, ever, do it in Berkeley.

i challenged authority in Berkeley when Milo visited. Would do it again. Go Bears!

Not shocking when you have Cal grads celebrating the fact that they blocked Milo from his right to free speech.

Yes but I will note that the university allowed the event to go on and provided police protection. I dunno, some of this looks like FIRE blaming the university for the behavior of some students (which is also free speech).

I hear you but making it unsafe for someone else to exercise their freedom of speech is blocking someone from exercising their freedom of speech.

Yes and as always there's a tough spot where a protest crosses the line over into that and the school has to walk that line.

By doing what? Running off the protestors? Wouldn't that violate free speech in the other direction? The only way for the space to be fully "safe" would be for no one to show up. I don't think that's realistic. This answer requires more than one glib sentence.

Milo doesn't have a right to speak freely on the Berkeley campus. The Free Speech Movement was for students

Lmao, there's the Berkeley spirit.

Milo didn't have a right to demand that Cal give him a platform but Cal students had a right, under university policy and the First Amendment, to invite outside speakers. That gives Milo the right to speak freely there.

Bad policy. Policy can be fixed (probably has as I dont hear much commotion lately).

Bad policy to allow differing viewpoints speak on campus? That's absurd. That policy has not been changed, thank goodness.

I think you're missing the point entirely. Hunter spent the last year + lambasting the Trumps for doing the exact same thing he just did.
I didn't miss the point. I was never a hunter Biden fan, always thought he was a scum bag. Never cheered for him like many of the maga ilk do for the Trump scum. I'm not here Gloating about how Hunter is meme-scum as though I did his bidding.

I don't disagree entirely but when a protest makes a space unsafe, it's no longer a protected speech situation.

What do you think the school should have done differently?

Made it so the space was safe for all.

By doing what? Running off the protestors? Wouldn't that violate free speech in the other direction? The only way for the space to be fully "safe" would be for no one to show up. I don't think that's realistic. This answer requires more than one glib sentence.

"Made it so the space was safe for all" is all encompassing for a reason.
