It's right there on the Internet for all to see. That's proof enough! Plus, China is a serious country. They're not gonna just make s*** up. They're China! I mean, just look at their President, Xi: you ever see him give a Kamala Smile, where he's showing his entire dental structure? Heck, no, Just that little fake-pleasant half-smile, which we all know means "I am serious and you'd better not ever f*** with me."

I don't know what's worse, sitting down in a formal setting to listen to John Kerry speak about free speech or listen to him speak about climate change.

China may be serious but they are also Communist, which means they are fully capable of officially manipulating data to meet their political and economic goals. This has been known forever with their economy; another example, IIRC, was their covid vaccine. Yes, this can happen in Democracies but there are other institutional guardrails that work against it (opposing political party, free press, etc.). Communist China is different.

Because in the US, officials don't manipulate data to meet their goals?

The guardrails in oligarchies democracies have eroded considerably, there isn't much daylight between the Dems and Reps on most issues, and that political duopoly has hard barriers to entry in place. The MSM as well as GAFA are working in phase with the political establishment.

I agree with this. Something will have to radically change in our leadership to ever have a chance at going back to some semblance of democracy and a Republic
...if those two ever even existed. One person (president) trying to stand up to billionaires and the deep state behind them
will be crushed by rumor and false claims, if they are lucky, or killed if they can somehow withstand the barrage of social media and regular media attacks.

It is also the reality of living in a country where the Federal Government is the final resource for government aid in the form of relief. And when the emergency is in a red state, and when the federal government is one of the Left, they will drag their feet in getting there. It is more than just a bad look that Biden is on a beach, and Kamala is at a fundraiser a few blocks from me in San Francisco (or so I heard). Meanwhile, the Donald is visiting the areas hit by the hurricane, comforting the people, and having supplies trucked in, probably on his own dime. How much more does he need to do, before all of us realize that he is one President who has the people's backs?

The current administration is responding to this hurricane disaster about as quickly as they respond to security needs of Presidential candidates they don't like.

There is simply no way the federal emergency response would be this slow if it happened in a blue state and largely impacted, say, African Americans.

People: Sean 'Diddy' Combs Accused of Sexually Abusing 9-Year-Old Boy as 120 People Allege Abuse

Sean "Diddy" Combs was separately charged in September with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution"

"On Tuesday, Buzbee said his law firm, along with the AVA Law Group, were retained by at least 120 individuals to file civil claims against Combs. Twenty five of the alleged victims are minors, Buzbee said.

"...Buzbee said more than 55% of the alleged victims filed reports to either the authorities or to hospitals."

"...Buzbee claimed many of the alleged victims were drug tested after the incident and the drug, Xylazine, a horse tranquilizer known as "tranq," was found in their systems."

Isn't the issue here that a lot of the disaster areas are flooded and very hard to reach?

Also, the federal government can provide significant aid (which they have), but it's still state and local officials who have to coordinate it.

But seriously: a D governor is going to refuse to help "red" areas of his state? Never mind that one of the hardest-hit cities is Asheville, which (I believe) is a pretty blue city. It doesn't make sense that he would be delaying aid to what is probably one of his major constituencies.

Agreed. And if it isn't being held up at the state level then it has to be at the federal level, no? (On a related note I heard a report this morning that one of their biggest challenges is too many people showed up to help.)

All the interstates and many of the other roads into that area are washed out or otherwise unusable. Getting supplies into the area is difficult and will mainly have to be done by helicopter. That's going to make getting relief into the region slow at best. Even worse, many people are trapped in their neighborhoods and can't get out to where supplies are being distributed.

My agency isn't one that normally gets involved with disaster relief but we have loaned people to FEMA to help out. Even though it may not be apparent, it's pretty much all hands on deck right now.

Serious Q - isn't that type of thing common with natural disasters? I'm thinking about NOLA during Katrina or maybe assorted hurricanes in Florida. Anecdotally, missing infrastructure to access areas seems like it is part of the gig.

I mean, maybe no? Cooper has been saying he's getting all the appropriate aid from the feds. It could be that the situation is just very challenging. (Never mind that I'm not even sure if the response has even been all that slow as compared to similar disasters, or is that just a ginned-up media narrative from Biden's political enemies.)

It's just lies starting from Donold.

What outraged the public so much about Katrina was watching people on TV for days in the Superdome (mostly poor and black) without food, water, or security.

They must be dumber than a bag of rocks then because North Carolina is currently considered a battleground state for the election and this would be a great chance to score point ("buy votes").

Decades of Democrat leaders - many Black - failed.

Edit: just like all the cities they've ruled and ruined over decades.
