Kamala had a better debate performance with Trump than Biden did but people already knew Biden was slowing down. With Kamala, her inauthenticity, which was previously hidden (except on Twitter), is now being exposed for all to see.
And of course there is ZERO NADA ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you would come to this same "reasonable" dispassionate analysis if Obama or Biden had done the exact same thing. Most of the posters on the right on this board who remain are just not serious people who have detached from reality or have pushed their loyalty to cult-level adherence. Nailed it. As some who works in a governmental agency at a local level, people at the national levels have a limited and superficial idea about what's being done 4-6 levels down the departmental chain of command, even during a high profile emergency. They do their best, but they are coming in cold and trying to get caught up fast. They especially try not to get tripped up on the small details they haven't been well briefed on, so they don't get too deep into the weeds. At the same time, they encourage the local people to refer interviews and requests for information to national public affairs officers so the messaging stays consistent if bland.
And I used to think Cal Poly was a great school. And it was, for practical knowledge. I used to hire engineers for construction work, and kids from Cal Poly had practical training. They knew how to make working drawings. They knew the difference between a bolt and a nut. My dad had an architectural firm for 50 years, and hired young architects as draftsmen. He said the Cal Poly grads were the best, because they knew right away how to make a working drawing, and he didn't have to spend time time teaching them how to do the basic work. The architecture grads from Cal could give you a Buckminster Fuller dome, but did not know how to put two pieces of wood together. ....You have to be able to persuade so many people, all with their own interests at stake, to finish a (property development/construction) project successfully. Of course, you can hire some people to negotiate much of these issues, but the bigger decisions will require you to be persuasive yourself. You will sink or swim, depending on many things, one of which is your ability to persuade. Trump was successful there, loved by some, hated by some, but he was successful, and the buildings prove it.
Yes, I like simple explanations when they are true. But:
1) Whatever "skills in real persuasion" Trump may have had as a property developer in New York, you can only claim he still has them if you haven't noticed his precipitous cognitive decline, especially in the last 4 years ;
2) If he actually had the same "skills of persuasion" as before and such a great relationship with both Zelensky and Putin, why would he need "power" to convince both leaders his solution for ending the war is in their mutual interest? Also, do you really believe Trump's claim that he could end the war "in one day"? ; and finally
3) You didn't address my claim that (if elected) Trump would (use his new "power" to) try to force Zelensky to essentially accept Putin's demands in order to "end the war".

Who says Trump has had a "precipitous cognitive decline"? I think you have been watching too much MSNBC, where mental lightweights impersonate journalists for a living. What Trump may have lost in a little cognitive decline, he may have gained in all the wisdom he should now have after 4 years of accomplishments in a world unfamiliar to him, politics. Accomplishments with so much of the deck stacked against him, fighting the Democrats, and over half of the Republicans, along with oh, say, 98% of the media, and a lot of the people he hired in his own administration, all trying to sabotage him at every term. Hopefully, he will have gained enough wisdom to hire better people to help him. Elon Musk is a helluva start, don't you think?

I did not say he would need "power" to convince them of anything. I meant he had no status or no skin in the game (as a private citizen) to deal with these two men. He has nothing to offer them, except his personal wealth maybe, and why would he want to do that?
I don't believe the claims of any politicians. I try to pay little attention to their words. I try to look only at their accomplishments, after the fact, because so many of them lie like rugs.
As to your claim, I guess I failed to notice that. I don't know that Trump has to force Zelensky to cave to Putin. All he has to do is stop giving Mr Z all the weapons and ammo. Putin may take his gains and quit anyway. Who knows? He only likes to invade when a weak Democrat is in charge in Washington, (Obama or Biden). If it is Kamala, well, take a wild guess what Putin would do. I have no idea. I would rather have the devil I know than the devil I don't know in the White House.
