This is a lie

Yes, and I encourage anybody who cares (not likely anybody) to go back and read it, including my post before for context. You can see that calbear93 is lying about what I wrote. You can also see how sexually uptight the moderators here are.

Part of the Democrat's platform (painting Christians with a broad brush as bigots):

Those most loudly claiming that morals, values, and patriotism must be defined by their particular religious views have used those religious views, with misplaced claims of "religious liberty," to justify public policy that has threatened the civil rights and liberties of many Americans, including but not limited to the LGBT community, women, and ethnic and religious/nonreligious minorities

Is that wrong? When it comes to LGBT folks I think that's definitely true.
I see. And you think the Quran and Torah have different teaching? And do think most Christians you meet on a day to day basis, including over 70% of the black community, are bigots against homosexuals? You do realize that substantial majority of the black community are evangelicals, right? So the Democrats are against most of the black community? You don't think that is a broad brush?

I think that in the United States the primary opposition to what is now recognized as a legal right (same-sex marriage) came from Christian religious organizations. Am I wrong?
Yes, extending the belief of what constitutes biblical marriage that is laid out in Islam, Mosaic laws, and the Bible. I think the failure to differentiate Christian marriage to civil marriage was stupid. There are many things that are legal that are not Biblical, including divorces, fornication, etc. that none of us can faithfully obey. And that is the heart of Christianity and why Trump is not a Christian if he thinks he never has to ask for forgiveness. We all fail and we all needed a savior to rescue was from our past and continuous sins. It is forgetting about justification and how we get it that led to the stupidity on trying to prevent legalizing gay marriages. Why not make illegal divorces? How about premarital sex? It was stupid and led by those who I think have more faith in their own influence and in law than in God. Sola fide.
I see. So you're saying that not all Christians opposed gay marriage. You personally were in favor of it being recognized in civil ceremonies and you have a different interpretation of scripture than those who opposed it. That's fair, and at no point did I try to claim that ALL Christians were opposed to gay marriage, only that the primary opposition to it was being driven by Christian organizations and that has driven negative perceptions on the left, sort of like how your perception of liberals seems to be driven by the most extreme behavior on the left. I'm sure in other countries it's fundamentalist Muslims or some other religion that is preventing it, but we're talking about the USA here. Muslim organizations have nowhere near the pull of Christian organizations in this country.

So on some of these issues I would encourage you to try to see it from the perspective of someone who is NOT Christian, or perhaps who is not religious at all. For example, you say there is indeed a Biblical justification for anti-abortion stances but not for anti-gay marriage. From the outside, though, I know for a fact that not all Christians oppose abortion, just as per your point not all Christians oppose gay marriage. So it looks to me like the issues are not that different: you have some Christians who say the scripture commands them to oppose something, and others who say it doesn't. Given that our laws are not supposed to use religious texts as their basis, I'm not sure why any of these arguments should sway me as a non-religious person.

All of that also makes it hard for me to buy the argument that the Democratic stance on supporting abortion rights and same-sex marriage in opposition to Christian evangelicals constitutes a "hostility" to Christians in general. In my experience, Christians are not a monolith in their stances on social issues.

1. I do not have a different interpretation than those who oppose it. I have a different interpretation on the need to impose theology into government law. I believe that God's law is higher than the government law, but that there are many laws in the Bible that we cannot follow at all times because of our nature and that we do not impose on others. For example, there is only limited circumstances that permit divorces. Yet, even Christian folks get divorced and the government allows it. So, in this case, I believe that if two people of the same gender want to get married in a civil ceremony, then there is no reason for Christians to get in the way of that. Now, if they wanted to get married at church, then I believe Christians can say no.

2. Certain things go beyond religion. If, we as Christians, believe that life begins upon conception, and as such, we believe that abortion is murder, then you have to understand why we are so pro-life. It would be no different than wanting to protect any other life.

So, yes, I do believe that it is an error for evangelicals like me (and most of the black community are evangelicals and Calvinists) to insert religion into politics, and I believe Democrats shoot themselves in the foot by being hostile to religious freedom just for Christians. But that is not based on my interpretation being different from any other Christian's on what God intended for marriage. That is my lack of worship of the government or government laws and lack of belief that non-Christians must abide by Christian beliefs.

" It is still not clear how involved he is with the company. At the beginning of the year, it was reported that Kushner had divested from the startup after scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest. Then, last month, it was reported that he had put his plans to divest on hold; in the meantime, Cadre has promised not to seek out foreign investors. Just trust them on this, guys! Couple of things. I am not exaggerating the hostility. Would you say the same thing if someone wrote about a Jewish person giving a blowjob before going to a temple and using terms like nutting, etc and having people star that post ? Well, that is what Dajo did (and the moderators had to delete and lock) and everyone here who is a Democrat thought that was OK or worthy of a star. How about if someone put stereotypical and bigoted caricature of someone Jewish or Muslim? How would you expect that to be handled here? That is typical of the liberals' treatment of Christianity. And no one liberal thinks twice about it. And so you saying I am exaggerating is like some conservative white posters saying the black community is exaggerating racism faced by blacks. Hard to take you seriously on this.

And I do find offensive that you view me as an acceptable conservative unlike other conservatives here. Why are the fellow conservative posters not acceptable but people like Aunbear, Calpoly and Dajo acceptable?

So, while we will continue to be civil, we are both very biased to our own preconceptions, and we will not convince each other when we start our arguments assuming as truth our biased opinions.
Yes your are exaggerating the hostility towards Christians. In addition, you turn a blind eye to the hostility that republicans have towards minorities in this country and the countless atrocities that Christians have waged on society throughout history.

Negative, in lefitst/ liberal circles, it's acceptable to mock Christianity, Christians, and Jews, but doing the same towards Islam is racist. You turn a blind eye to your own party as the Democrats are the party of slavery and Jim Crow.

On balance, Christianity is a force for good throughout history. Nothing compares to the atrocities committed by atheists and socialists like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot, just in the 20th century alone.

There are other things that are more hilarious. A christian conservative wouldn't have been invited on Bill Maher's show to openly discuss Islam even though Bill would agree with his or her views, that person would be attacked. Thus, Sam Harris, an atheist, who is also knowledgeable about Islam, who got a mouthful from Batman on steroids.

I have just the book for you.

Quotes from his book:

"I have set out to demolish the intellectual and moral pretensions of Christianity."

"It is, therefore, not an exaggeration to say that if the city of New York were suddenly replaced by a ball of fire, some significant percentage of the American population would see a silver lining in the subsequent mushroom cloud, as it would suggest to them that the best thing that is ever going to happen was about to happen: the return of Christ."

"One can obtain a PhD in any branch of science for no other purpose than to make cynical use of scientific language in an effort to rationalize the glaring inadequacies of the Bible. A handful of Christians appear to have done this; some have even obtained their degrees from reputable universities."

"That religion may have served some necessary function for us in the past does not preclude the possibility that it is now the greatest impediment to our building a global civilization."

"This letter is the product of failure...the failure of our schools to announce the death of God in a way that each generation can understand."

"It is astride this contemptible history of religious atrocity and scientific ignorance that Christianity now stands as an absurdly unselfconscious apotheosis. The notion that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that his death constitutes a successful propitiation of a "loving" God is a direct and undisguised inheritance of the superstitious bloodletting that has plagued bewildered people throughout history."

"Faith is generally nothing more than the permission religious people give one another to believe things strongly without evidence"

"Everyone who has eyes to see can see that if the God of Abraham exists, He is an utter psychopath."

Clutch your pearls.

No one said the protests were solely due to the presence of the Feds but rather that the Feds exacerbated the situation. If you read the article, you would have seen that there was a small separate group of protesters (less than 2 dozen) who lit a small fire in a police union building. There was no mention of the federal courthouse which has been a focus when the feds were there because the protests have no reason to be there any more. The volume of the protests is far less than it was when the Feds were there, which is what everyone said would happen, except the pearl clutchers like you and your spirit animal Tucker Carlson.

You should be happy that the very fine people of Portland have been released from federal occupation and that there is far less violence and criminal activity but I guess that's not the way concern trolls work.

Bingo. No one said there would be zero protests or violence forever. In any large enough city that's not a realistic goal. The argument is that the feds were making it worse.
