I hope the performance in Corvallis encourages more fans to show up for the game next weekend, Shocky. Keep going after the admins on free tix for current students, I'd be interested to know how many students are attending football and basketball home games under the current pricing. Now a few comments on your game posts.
will the texas southern band outperform the legendary performance of the grambling band as the greatest halftime show in the history of cal football?? I'm guessing you're too young to have witnessed Carol Doda accompany the Stanfurd Band when they performed at the '74 Big Game halftime. This was my personal favorite.
Cade Uluave- Looked like he got absolutely tackled on a blitz for one of OSU's key pass completions when they were trying to make a game of it in the 4th quarter. The running back blocking him simply fell backwards and pulled him down.
Hezekiah Masses-The young man had the composure to come back from a PI call to basically seal the game with an interception and run back. Great effort, would have been easy to get down after the earlier call but he stayed focused and came up big.

I'd also like to praise the field goal kickers, we lost so many close games last year due to that part of the game. With Wilcox at the helm it's likely we'll be in more rock fights again this season, great if we have reliable kickers moving forward.

and yeah oregon state made a mistake bringing in a low character selfish as **** qb1 that wuz asked to leave the high gpa/integrity duke football program...and it's possible that the ucla is gonna find out that bringing in a qb1 who quit on his teammates (kinda like the fake azz caca mendoza & his papi) during the season is also NOT the path to building a winning football program with appreciative positive energy smiling high gpa leadership like cade and jaron, love those guys and the values they embody!!

if caca mendoza had been successful in running off jaron, last nite's outcome very well could been a loss (the beavs had 19 1st downs vs the bears 15 1st downs) instead of a victory, qb1 play as u know is critical to winning football games

look rkt, jaron & trond both got good hair but the truth of the matter is that wide receivers currently running with the 2s trevor rogers, kyion grayes, dazmin james & jayden dixon-veal (jordan king catches everything like a golden glove all star shortstop) all got elite SPEED & mostly above average hair but haven't shown that they can consistently track, catch & hold onto the ******* football, got it??

Shocky, some posters suggested I repost over here what I said on the insider board about the OSU scheduling since the topic is still being debated. Is the argument now "Yes, we crushed them last year and yes, we crushed them again this year, but it was still dumb?" At some point the outcome DOES factor into the analysis. it wasn't a fluke that we won these games. The games unfolded as they did for the exact reasons, the coaches thought they would. This was not only the right scheduling call, it was the ONLY scheduling call possible and it made them right and the haters wrong

Here's what I said at 1:30 AM on that bus ride out of Corvallis. Personally, I don't think I will be up there again in my lifetime. Never say never, but the reason for this home and away scheduling don't exist anymore. And we can do better going forward. But the coaches nailed it here and deserve the credit.

I was on the Donor Zoom when Phillips basically told JK that Cal should play OOC west coast teams that would improve SOS for rankings and minimize travel. So I think there is some substance to view that Cal was doing what the ACC wanted. Murphy may have had an up and down day with the Cal defense, but he is an upgrade, they have a good enough running attack and their defense has some talent. My gut reaction is OSU if they stay healthy is a 6 or 7 win team that gets to a bowl game, so the win at Corvallis looks pretty good when Cal hopefully is being sized-up for post-season play.

You have to add to this discussion that the game was on ESPN, prime time on the West Coast. That's significant. Streaming only options for Texas Southern, and then CBS Sports Network for SD St. will make for a lot less eyeballs. If that was part of the "deal" for the conference to pressure Cal, then, in addition to the win, that exposure has value.

You are probably true about the truck stop thing, I usually stay in Portland and drive down for game. Good lodging, good coffee and Pearl District has great food and is fun.

goldy, good call on portlandia particularly with the really FUN food trucks (and close to the terrific gil hanse restored waverley county club on the banks of the willamette river)!!

shocky is a big fan of the nines hotel (my daughters shay & taylor love how the rooms are color themed in tiffany blue) in portland...back in the day when shocky wuz cal men's basketball 1st general manager shay & her dad drove down to corvallis for the oregon state hoops game & we sat in the 1st row behind the cal bench next to the very affable (we talked fashion more than basketball) berkeley grad alan crabbe who at the time wuz a portland trailblazer

since there's no acceptable dining options in that part of the pacific northwest dad drove at the speed of light after the game back to the nines where shay said there wuz a well rated sushi restaurant at the rooftop bar...but when we get off the elevator at the top floor there's 100+ people (mostly females wearing +1 skanky dresses/high heels) standing in line & security tells me there's no more seating capacity even after shocky shows him our hotel room key

shay talks to one of the girls lounging around & asks wut's up, the answer is that this is the hotspot where the trailblazers do the hang on non game nites

so shocky throws out a hail mary prayer & says we're guests of mr alan crabbe to the big azz poly security brah kinda sioape vatikani lookalike who then turns his head and calls somebody on his walkie talkie...a couple of minutes go by & then he finally nods his head at us to go on in & then me and shay dine on some tasty salmon hand rolls with alan who gets interrupted multiple times by young ladies that wanna introduce themselves or something

afterwards we fist bump crabbe thx and while waiting by the elevator with panoramic views of portland to go back down to our room at the nines shay looks at her dad with her trademark pain in the azz (she's currently studying for the colorado bar exam) smirk and says "i'll bet you wish you were in the nba"
