Tickets sold vs. butts-in-seats, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if, for the number they announce, they count the Straw Hat Band members, spirit groups, players and even paid staff.

That is pathetic for swimming and water polo (with teams ranked at or near the top in the country) to be as poorly attended as basketball (with possibly the worst team in the country).

We know from past experience that when basketball is competitive (top 25, not as highly ranked as swimming and water polo) the stands are packed!

colin morikawa is striking the ball as well as anyone in the tounament, today's 5 of his 6 birdies were putts from within 8 feet with the only bomb drained on the par 4 7th hole from 30 feet...torrey pines got a us open setup with the lush penal rough off the narrow 25 yard fairways, gotta get colin en fuego mañana rolling the rock


playing in the group in front of him, max homa missed a couple of short putts during the last 6 holes as the poa anua greens gotta a little bumpy in the afternoon cali sunshine...tomorrow both max & colin are gonna be playing with each other for the 3rd time this week in the 2nd to last group, let's do this


south korean (now lives at lake nona in orlando) byeong hun an is 5 under par & tied for 9th, he is scary long off the tee & maybe after the round tomorrow the shockster will be able to ask ben how he avoided his home country's mandatory 2 years of military service requirement that must commence by age 30

torrey pines high school grad (same high school as my partner in gas station robberies brian driscoll) michael kim is 3 under par & tied for 21st as 4 calfironia golden bears gonna tryna finish strong

and yeah me & driscoll gonna rampage rodeo drive later tonite to get some of them vilbrequin swim trunks for our dives into the pond in front of the 18th green on national tv if one of them bears gets a victory, stormin' the green is fun and trust me brian's cannonball gotta lotta splash baby

Did you shake security and jump into the pond upon Max's victory?

Great showing by Max (1st) and Collin (3rd) - An/Kim also made the cut and An had a rough Saturday but both in the money

Wonderful to see Max's wife/baby ready to congratulate him upon his win!

gooski, top 5 candy azz soft reasons shocky did not storm the 18th green at torrey pines & dive into the pond:

1) me & driscoll couldn't find vilebrequin swim trunks in his size, my extra sets of mediums are no bueno for brian

2) the monster don't got enough bail money, already wanted in 2 states, can't move wrong plus my po tole me no more uber helicopter rides wit a curvy brunette yoga female

3) the tournament didn't end when max drained his final birdie putt, there wuz still a final group behind that needed to play the 18th

4) yellow jacket security are easy to elude but the 50+ armed san diego police officers with serious porn staches r no joke

5) most importantly, while walking back to my car in the gliderport parking lot above black's beach after friday's round noticed 3 snipers in battle fatigues set up with stands for kill shots on top of the hilton resort's roof next to the torrey pines lodge...it occurred to me that running toward max while screaming congratulations might activate a maybe twitchy sniper's nest

anyways max homa is an inspirational champ that has rebuilt himself from a struggling pro golfer to a top 10 player in the world...while he is the early favorite for this summer's us open to be held at los angeles country club it should be mentioned that the north course he shot a course record 61 to win the pac 12 championship is not the same design today after gil hanse's massive renovation

colin morikawa drove the ball more accurately than anyone else this week with a remarkable 90% fairways hit on the 25-30 yard ribbon sized fairways...his missed short putts continue to be misses to the right which is a function of him still cutting those putts but overall his putting stroke looks much more fluid & less mechanical after working with a putting coach for the 1st time this offseason

max & colin will be both competing in the phoenix open (which is actually contested in north scottsdale) down the street from the monster's tree fort in 2 weeks

make no mistake about it, the steely discipline & indefatigable ambition along with a corresponding wry sense of humour that are required to compete & earn a degree at the #1 ranked public university in the world are also factors in why max & colin are both gonna continue climbing with an upward trajectory to the pinnacle of the golf world

yeah we're gonna go all the way up, and if u ask us where we live, point to the hills, nothing can stop us

Everybody lost tonight. The Private-School-Furdies lost because why-the-hell did they get dominated at Haas only three weeks ago by this same team?!? (Haase = fat-tub-o'-goo) Cal lost because they are a sorry excuse for a basketball team, but hey, the guys are out there trying, so I still love 'em. Knowlton lost because he hasn't pulled the plug on this s*** yet: I give him until Monday morning at 10 AM to make amends. It would be better to roll out a portable tarmac this evening, but I am a patient man.

Do your effing job, Knowlton, and be a leader.

the bears top 3 players are solid with jeewon park, sampson zheng & aaron du, there are 6 players that are competing for the remaining tournament spots...the tucson tournament's 15 team field is relatively weak with only #10 texas a&m & host #21 arizona as elite teams, #69 cal gotta opportunity to start making a move up in the rankings towards a potential 2023 ncca tournament selection
