the pac 12s #2 rushing leader (after jaydn ott) damien martinez has publicly announced he will be returning to oregon state in 2024

this would mean that if knowlton signs the oregon state contract sitting on his desk if they drop the lawsuit against the departing pac 12 schools it would be unequivocally the dumbest scheduling decision for the 2024 season by any athletic director in the nation

even oregon with a 100+ year civil war with oregon state will NOT schedule them in 2024

longtime northwest rival washington will NOT schedule oregon state in 2024

but will james arthur knowlton schedule oregon state?

here wut ur saying, upset, but right now with the limited healthy roster mad dog can't bench guys that aren't playing like their ******* hair is on fire on d...once the bears best defender keonte kennedy debuts as expected for the santa clara game plus the returns of the physical defensive presences of jalen celestine & devin askew then guys who don't compete with intensity on both ends of the court will be sitting next to the staff collecting splinters

wut is concerning is the complete absence of off ball defensive help when guys are burned off the dribble to the bucket, the bears probably lead the nation in the most allowed uncontested baskets within 3 feet of the hoop...that's just really bad basketball fundamentals with respects to team defense, kinda wondering wut's really the role of some of the assistant coaches/staff (who can't be bothered to respond to emails from welcoming fans & then maybe wonder why the program got no fans/resources) other than superstar recruiter matt scherbenske

then there's also the issue of abysmal attendance at haas, great defenses like those during the cal's monster class era fed off the energized excitement of the sold out haas pavilion...knowlton, his marketing dumb azz markeisha & his enablers at the bearinsider.com think that just winning a few more games is gonna change attendance patterns and that's just not true in today's fiercely competitive bay area marketplace for the entertainment dollar

mark is not reasposible for the misplaced hype, that's just the circle jerk preseason false expectation of the premium board insiders who don't wanna deal with any new fans or the unwashed masses like the monster on tightwad hill

it's gonna take everyone coming together in berkeley to turn this around & that's honestly not happening right now

do u wanna see the best basketball action sequence since cal's monster class?...watch from the 1 minute 4 second mark, ok?...michelle violently blocks a shot in the paint without getting into the body of the opponent for a foul (teams cannot enter the lair of these bears for uncontested buckets around the rim) keeping the ball in play then delivers a fundamentally textbook non moving knockout screen at midcourt (the sec auburn tiger crumples like a rumpleskein) followed by an unselfish mckayala (dribbling with her eyes on the action with 100% court vision) pass forgoing a good shot for wide open great look & a 3 point moneyball thru the deep south airspace by marta followed by an eruption from the team 1st bench jockeys

this is how basketball is played at the highest level, it's kinda like beautiful art or something

defense wins championships (michelle ugonne onyiah is shocky's favorite men's & women's basketball player at his alma mater)#

this 6-0 bears got an identity, physical high iq basketball defense that don't allow uncontested buckets & that plays relentless team supporting d when a teammate is beaten off the dribble

michelle kinda looks like she thought about dunking in the highlight video above, onyiah finished with a defensive game changing 5 steals & altered a gazillion other spartans passes/shots in the paint along with 13 points on an efficient 6 of 7 field goals

leilani unselfishly led her team as usual with 6 assists & mckayla's glue contributions (she's unsung in the same way as kemery) included a hustling 12 boards

the x factor for this season r mia (smooth looking shooting stroke and plays d with length & energy) and true australian freshie lulu who knocked down a confidence building 4 3 pointers with her unique shooting stroke with an almost set shot vibe...these 2 guards can change the trajectory of the 2023 season with bench production, something that has been missing in the program in previous years


will be very interesting to see how coach charmin & the staff gonna integrate leading scoring ionna back into the lineup when she's healthy

If their OC gets promoted they may not see a lot of players leave but an external hire I think will see the floodgates open. Sadly I think Cal won't be getting the cream of the crop but maybe some good depth.

joe, the reality is that the mountain west conference is mid major football & oregon state is an academically mediocre truck stop skool in the drizzly azz northwest

it's amazing wut j smith has accomplished in corvallis but if he leaves it's gonna be all over

no sympathy from the monster, cal wuz 5 minutes away from the same twilite zone of extinct t-rexs until stanford & notre dame leadership let us ride their coattails into the beautiful acc palm tree future
