2024 canadian open pga tournament at hamilton: 4th round update

dialed in for a 2nd day in a row, michael kim shot a 67 & finished 8 under par & tied for 8th...michael is striking the ball purely as evidenced by his 3rd in the field stat for strokes gained on approaches to greens...kim is gonna win another pga tournament (1st wuz the john deere back in the day) sooner than later

welcome 5'11" 165 lbs oakland native grand canyon transfer point guard jovan blackshear jr to the cal basketball program for his final year of eligibility

shocky's been to several lopes basketball games (fun environment with loud as **** sold out crowds, all students get FREE tixs) the last couple of years as a cinderella ncca tournament team last season & coach madsen is getting a high basketball iq floor general that naturally/unselfishly facilitates his teammates (unlike jalen cone) that got a pure shooting stroke (41.0% on 3 pointers last season on a limited # of shots & a career 80%+ free throw shooter)...blackshear is not a lockdown defender due to his size & will need to be coached up by the staff in order to compete against acc competition, he anticipates ball movement well & will be a legit passing lane ball stealing threat for the bears

us open final qualifying update from lake merced:

michael weaver just made a hole in one ACE on the short par 3 3rd hole (a completely new slightly uphill beauty in the gil hanse renovation) & is now 3 under par thru 5 holes...weav is in 1st place but there's a lotta golf to play with 31 holes remaining today, the lowest 4 scores outta 84 competitors advance to the us open at pinehurst #2...the odds of a hole in one in USGA competition is about one in a million



junior to be nathan wang wuz in the 1st group out & birdied his 1st hole (strategically angular short par 4) of the "longest day in golf"

former bear kyle maspat is 2 under thru 4 holes

yeah my most prized alma mater/tree fort possession (shocky is a minimalist with ocd anti hoarding issues & don't attach much value to things & ****) is my classic cal cap (given to me by des in our epic duel at cypress point back in the day, everybody loves des), the bears lids these days r trying too hard

michael weaver didn't earn a spot in the us open but played like a BOSS MAN for 36 holes (5 under par) & finished with an eagle 3 on the par 5 9th hole

weav is gonna do GREAT things in the future, my fellow haas biz ad grad is a fierce competitor!!!!

and nathan wang took another major step forward in his development, successfully competing at the ncca championships at la costa & now the us open final qualifying aka "the longest day in golf" is hopefully inspiring nathan that he got all the mental & physical tools to win a college tournament next season...middle of the pack collegiate tournament finishes should no longer be acceptable to the lefty

after throwing for coach gilbert & coach bloesch at last sunday's memorial stadium camp 6'3" 205 lbs jaron keawe sagapolutele from james campbell high school in ewa beach (along the coastline west of honolulu) hawaii got a cal offer


the lefty throws a very catchable ball with varying trajectories into tight windows & got great pocket awareness...hate throwing out old player references but he kinda reminds me of a way more athletic/less drunk version of oakland raiders hall of fame qb kenny stabler

the rising 2025 prospect has already tripped to utah state and got official visits scheduled to oregon state on june 7th & boise state on june 13th before the elite 11 on june 18th

jaron is NOT a dumb azz, he got a 3.75 gpa...at the end of the day would he really wanna commit to any of the academically mediocre schools (all located in white azz centric non poly/diverse communities) listed above or is he gonna make a 50 year decision????

pitts, this is actually a significant improvement over the tedford era but lower gpas than the sonny era

keep in mind that the grad transfers are usually just 1 year cert guys & it's almost impossible to fail unless ur taj davis and completely derelict in ur responsibilities

shocky's been to several lopes basketball games (fun environment with loud as **** sold out crowds, all students get FREE tixs) the last couple of years as a cinderella ncca tournament team last season & coach madsen is getting a high basketball iq floor general that naturally/unselfishly facilitates his teammates (unlike jalen cone) that got a pure shooting stroke (41.0% on 3 pointers last season on a limited # of shots & a career 80%+ free throw shooter)...blackshear is not a lockdown defender due to his size & will need to be coached up by the staff in order to compete against acc competition, he anticipates ball movement well & will be a legit passing lane ball stealing threat for the bears

jovan is currently recovering from a right knee injury (check out the brace in the foto below) that limited his minutes last season (played 15.4 mpg, he wuz named the wac preseason player of the year) & recently became a dad ...his reputation among the gcu staff is a hard worker that is receptive to coaching/development...played high school ball in phx for bad dude henry bibby jr (forced out for sexually harassing a teacher) at powerhouse shadow mountain (teammate of low gpa eddie house jr)...blackshear earned a bachelor of science degree in sports management from gcu & will be enrolled in berkeley's grad cert program
