2024 us open at pinehurst #2: 4th round update

not a good day for golf when a 9/11 terrorist financed liv golfer wins the us open, he should donate his earnings to the families that lost loved ones in the multiple attacks upon the united states of america

kinda uneven round with 4 birdies that wuz offset by 6 bogies as collin morikawa shot a 72 & tied for 14th in the national championship

collin's game is really peaking right now & he should be a serious contender at next month's british open on a course that fits his game...morikawa is not an elite greens reader & the greens at royal troon are relatively flat with usually no more than a cup or two of break on most putts...cannot emphasize enough that both of collin's 2 major championship victories wuz on courses with relatively flat greens at harding park & royal st georges...royal troon also offers the option of putting from off the greens which is a collin strength vs him chipping/banking shots into green side mounds...and with royal troon's penal rough collin's accuracy off the tee will give him an advantage over the field

both max homa and collin morikawa will definitely play in the scottish open the week prior to the british open which will be invaluable in helping them prepare for links golf which is a different (and 100% more fun) game than american aerial golf...also expect ben an to be in the field for the scottish open
so, when the PGA joins forces with the LIV, are you going to give up following the sport? We both know that the status quo is not going to be maintained....
It's all gutless people in golf, except when they want to make sure the "right" people belong to their club right? Are you going to skip playing courses that host LIV tournaments?
Explain to me why it is that LIV golfers were allowed to play this weekend, or, for that matter at the Masters?
Okay, I know you don't want to upset anyone in Augusta, so you can skip answering....

another reading favorite (shocky reads at least a book a week) along with greg iles who writes beautifully about the south is attorney turned author john grisham

https://instagr.am/p/Ca-abGjhEMv
and yeah grisham looks an awful like marietta georgia (hometown of my yoga buddy jaylen brown & the under appreciated atlanta country club which is architecturally much more interesting than peachtree, east lake & atlanta athletic club) products liability attorney (litigated the successful general motors faulty ignition lawsuits back in the day) lance cooper (berkeley grad with a peis degree) who is apparently sebastopol's whale donor right now with respects to nil fundraising for the cal football program with a recent donation of $500,000

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (just ask chief knocka homa)
econ, hear wut ur saying & applaud ur still roaring like a true california golden bear on fall gamedays at our lair memorial stadium (yeah watching cal football on tv is for losers) while the cannon blasts from tightwad hlll, the cheerleaders (doms should be in the cal dance/cheer hall of fame or something) dance their azzs off while the cal band plays & the seagulls circle from high above & further afar

and ur right, coach tedford wuz not only the greatest coach of the modern era not only for his winning epic battles, developing nfl talent particularly on the offensive side of the ball but most importantly creating excitement re: cal football with NEW fans which resulted in 60,000+ electric evening home games for the ages

but here's the deal, cal football & the athletic dept are outta time, either there are transformational changes/victories this fall or it's over...shocky will be done with this monster thread, there's a lotta world to see

who are the 2 most important figures that will shape the destiny of cal football?

one is lance cooper who is building (via the tireless work of kevin kennedy) a potential 8+ victory (and 10 wins is not outta reach) 2024 roster with his nil donations...can't imagine he's gonna do this again in 2025 if the bears don't win BIG this fall

the other individual is chancellor rich lyons, his above plan won't work if there's no longer alums visiting berkeley for fall gamedays to rekindle their luv for the #1 ranked public university in the world...the donations/endowments he's referencing with the state of california's increasing budget deficit reducing funding for the uc system is contingent upon collecting the non binding pledges/legacy gifts (which shocky is considering for the time he's deader than a doorknob)

so either rich is gonna replace the con artist (and his #2 in charge worthless bureaucrat jennifer simon-o'neil) utilizing the mckeever independent legal investigation document in the very near future or cal athletics will continue heading on its current course straight into the impending financial tsunami and there will no longer be cal football & basketball as we know it

so shocky's plan is to watch/celebrate every second of cal football this fall in person both in berkeley & on the road in the acc

yeah the cool sweet icing might be melting in the dark & we're never gonna have this recipe again so let's ******* go!!!!

a season in the sun (the time is NOW for everything)#

Just seems like you aren't afraid to call out LIV players (unless they were nice to you) but won't call out the tournaments that invited them.... it's fine, we all have agendas... you just make yours public on here.
What are the Blumenthal parameters? Americans can play in LIV, host LIV, but a merger is when they step in?

I don't care if Augusta National is the 200th best course in the world. The Masters allows LIV players. The US Open allows LIV players. So they aren't accepting blood money? They stop allowing LIV players and that doesn't change the whole dynamic?
Jeff82
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The turning point was Augusta National deciding they would accept LIV players. That opened the door for Rahm, for example, to go to LIV, because he has a lifetime exemption to the Masters, and if you're in the Masters, you're part of the pro golf world, even if you're not on the PGA Tour. Truthfully, the only players that IMHO are relevant from Liv at this point are Bryson D., Koepka, Rahm and Cameron Smith. Everyone else over there, including Phil Mickelson, is basically just along for the ride. Of those three, it appears to me that Bryson, Koepka and Rahm chose to take a guaranteed payday because of concern about injuries, Koepka might not have gone had he known he would return to health. I think Smith took it because he really wanted to play more events closer to home in Australia.

2023 golf magazine world top 100 list:

as someone who has played all the world top 100 lists since 1997, very interested in receiving today an advance release of the 2023 rankings (ranked every 2 years) which will be publicly released in december
https://top100golf.blogspot.com/2006/01/people-who-have-played-top-100-golf.html

fun fact: my former caddie home course san francisco golf club is #38, the cal club is #45 while the olympic lake (#96 in the 2021 rankings) drops out of the world top 100, the just completed gil hanse renovation will hopefully add some fun & more strategic options to the design along with eliminating the weird walk to the 8th tee box from the 7th green...also looking forward to playing coore & crenshaw's brambles when it formally opens in 2024, yeah it's just up the hill from the future t-rex yoga studio in yountville

there are 8 new additions to the 2023 rankings:

#68 the lido (not played)...tom doak's replica based upon historical documents in wisconsin of the charles blair mcdonald no longer in existence masterpiece on long island...slim wadie & shocky will be visiting the sand valley resort next june

#76 point hardy (not played)...coore & crensahw design on the clifftops in st lucia

#85 te arai south (not played)...coore & crenshaw design in the sand dunes north of auckland...slim wadie (who has never been to nz) & shocky gotta a february g2c2 (global golf centurion club) new zealand trip which will also include tara iti (ranked#20), tom doak's te arai (north) course & another trip to my favorite resort in the world cape kidnappers

#88 lofoten links (played)...in northern norway (home of the spectacular northern lights in the winter) shocky played a round in the morning, went with my kids to the beach all afternoon, took an evening sofa king nap & then played a round teeing off at the stroke of midnight

#95 shanqin bay (played)...this coore & crenshaw gem on the cliffs of hainan island in china is my favorite course in asia, there's nothing even remotely close in terms of greatness

#96 victoria (played)...very cool mackenzie design in melbourne's sand belt region, this clever australian course with spectacular bunkering starts with a downhill drivable par 4 with a million potential strategies

#97 machrihanish (played)...on a remote scottish isle sits arguably the greatest starting 1st hole in golf

#100 royal cinque ports (played)...the low key kinda scruffy english club got wild azz greens with tumultuous undulations

so right now schulzie is a 97 with 3 to go to complete the latest quest

what's your life adventure (and whose gonna accompany you on your journey)?#

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (and there's a lotta world to see)
slim wadie & shocky walked the lido this morning (the monster has now played 99 of the world top 100 courses on the current golf magazine list) & coore & crenshaw's sand valley this afternoon

15 miles in northern wisconsin humidity is kinda a work out but following ur dreams in life & laughing with mazzi (former korn ferry tour player from florida golf coast, he gotta 2.39 gpa back in the day!) on our bags is an ADVENTURE

we're gonna walk sand valley in the morning & then mammoth dunes in the afternoon before heading back to milwaukee & hopefully stopping at one of the cheese stores/restaurants that populate this part of the world...kinda wondering if they got any cheese sushi or something with miso soup?

everybody luvs aaron rodgers in wisky (go bears)#
