Shocks, the key to that^ pass to Endries: it was 1st and 10 and as the announcer says "a little misdirection" in the backfield, leaving Endries wide open for the TD.

As I have been saying for what seems like forever, just keep going with play action on first with Fernando throwing 20 yards or more down field to the TE or the WR on a post, or the RB underneath. Just keep doing that building a big lead until they expect it and start dropping guys into coverage…. THEN run the ball as a counter. But we have to stick with the first part until it stops working (they start expecting it and stop jumping the run fake and instead drop LBs into coverage.

This is spot-on, Calumnus. When Dyches is back this strategy would be even more effective.

zony, the cal tight end tandem of jack endries & corey dyches is the most EXPLOSIVE duo in the nation, it's no coincidence that the tight ends are developing at a very high level of playmaking with future head coach in waiting/haas biz ad grad mike saffell

this wuz a positive coaching/recruiting upgrade this offseason by justin after multiple outta touch old white guy coaches that couldn't relate to recruits on a personal level which resulted in a bunch of slow as **** white tight ends with ZERO separation speed

keep an eye on acrobatic receiver ben marshall moving forward who just needs to keep working on getting his body right to block inline, he's a nightmare mismatch for linebackers

jeffrey johnson is the room's best blocker, nate rutchena is the consummate teammate & true freshman 6'6" camden jones is chieseled (just needs to keep working hard in the classroom to become a standout in berkeley)

this is cal football's tight end room (coached up by a FUN responsible high gpa grown azz KID at heart with a red beard who enjoys reading to children, will be a GREAT DAD someday!!)#

Vanity Fair reported that Casey Wasserman frequently rode on Epstein's 727.

How much of his net worth is due to inherited seed money from his grandfather Lew Wasserman? I believe a lot of that would be protected in a divorce settlement. Still might not be the best name to have on buildings at UCLA going forward.

How long do you want to ignore this user?

I thought going for two after our first TD was, on balance, not a good decision, but we were trying to show just the boldness and swagger that fans would like to see. So not a horrible decision, IMO. However, the play we ran, with a non-QB throwing a pass, was a low-percentage play by its very nature. I thought that was the dumbest part about the decision.

It could be just my imagination, but it seems like our success rate on two-point conversions is well below that of our opponents. Given that, we should probably only go for two when absolutely necessary, at the end of the game.

He can't admit that we are very weak in short yardage, condensed field situations. I would be interested to see if we are 50/50 in two point conversions. My evidence is anecdotal I admit. He has no problem being forthright, that's not his issue. We all know what the issues are.

2024 pacific invitational: 1st round update

other than the collegiate world debut of eric zhou (a one under par 70) today's bears play wuz pretty uneventful & actually kinda disappointing

cal (-3) is tied for 5th in the weak azz field behind golfing powerhouses san diego (-12), pacific (-9), grand canyon (-8), california baptist (-8) & tied with washington state (-3)

no es bueno, es muy mal

wut happened?

stockton golf & country club is a a relatively straightforward classic design with short yardage (6,553 yards) & low course (71.8) & slope (132) ratings...it's NOT world class difficult like merion or oakmont so there's really no excuse for the 6 competing bears today to make a combined 19 sloppy azz bogeys

but there r 36 holes for everybody to get their **** together, capice??

https://instagr.am/p/C_q5hQ4vDnz

2024 pacific invitational: 2nd round update

better day in the san joaquin valley with the 3rd place bears (-13) behind san diego (-21) & host pacific (-23)

some outstanding streaky play with tony chen reeling off 5 birds in a row enroute to a back nine en fuego 30 & sizzling 66, daniel heo with a hat trick in a row of birds on the front nine & wenliang xie knocking down 3 birdie putts in a row on the back nine

89, as someone who speaks with a lotta bearents, shocky can tell u with 100% certainty that coach wilcox is NOT losing the team at this time, not even close, got it?

the players & their parents priorities include developing their football skills (the vast majority of the players harbor dreams of getting PAID in the national football league), getting PAID right now by kevin kennedy/lance cooper & earning a berkeley degree (and to a lesser extent the grad biz certificate) while having FUN (which includes winning & this season's exciting further afar roadtrips) in an authentic caring close knit family atmosphere

all of that is happening right now, the only crack in coach wilcox & his staff's potential credibility is the growing perception among the team members & even some of the staff is that mike bloesch's play calling is both dangerous (running his rb1 & rb2 into telephone poles) & costing jaydn ott millions of dollars in the 2025 nfl draft...if justin does not get involved in this issue this could creak a fissure in his credibility which is very high among the cal family

as alky points out there is a $14,000,000+ million dollar buyout & there is ZERO donor support for that buyout plus nobody thinks knowlton wouldn't just then hire a worser coach

so wut needs to happen in berkeley??

1) lyons needs to terminate knowlton, this is the #1 KEY to the future of the cal athletic department...right now he's continuing to borrow tens & tens of millions of dollars from the central campus with ZERO chance of future repayment

2) lyons needs to promote football chief of staff/berkeley grad andrew mcgraw to athletic director with the charge to make the necessary sports teams cuts/rightsizing with fiscal responsibility...this would also include the firing the current knowlton #2 in charge confidante the evil as **** jennifer simon-o'neil (who enabled racist behavior against the suicidal swimmers) & relegating the non innovative worthless bureaucrat markeisha everrett

3) wilcox needs to evaluate right now if bloesch can successfully handle both play calling & offensive line coaching responsibilities...failure to call PITCHOUTS will injure running backs & lose football games, full stop

4) immediately after the season wilcox needs to evaluate whether or not he needs a full time special teams coach instead of the ongoing amateur hour ****show...keep in mind vic soto presided over TERRIBLE usc special teams during the helton fiasco era...justin ****** up not hiring bryon storer from the nfl as the special teams coach when he had the chance instead of the drunk azz charlie ragle...longwell running off ice in his veins mateen wuz a beyond breaking bad decision

5) immediately after the season wilcox needs to evaluate the ongoing high # of injuries & the performance of the s&c staff...shocky & his yoga buddy jaylen brown strongly believe that the reason so many professional sports organizations in the nfl & nba are hiring yoga instructors is due to yoga practices helping the body to flexibly absorb (dissipating energy throughout the body instead of just the point of contact) violent collisions & significantly reducing injuries

to be honest with you the reason shocky is not panic at the disco like many on this board (which is probably a function of low testerone levels) is that while he celebrates life's victories aka glimmers like a doggy dog with food dropping off the kitchen counter he goes into a non emotional analytical/problem solving mode when things go badly in life (which will inevitably happen, life is NOT linear)...and that's 100% a berkeley trait that's usually learned at the #1 ranked public university in the world
coach wilcox update re: monster corrective point #3, there will be no changes at this time but justin repeated multiple times "i understand the question" which is a positive sign that his head isn't stuck in the sand right now on this critical issue...points #4 & #5 should not happen until after the season

still no feedback from chancellor lyons points #1 & #2...shocky is gonna try to find him at memorial stadium this saturday to get some direct feedback

the following is a loose transcript of my sorta telepathic conversation afterwards at the tree fort with my doggys when i walked into the kitchen with my golden bear blue yoga mat & sandals with major grass clippings on the way to dropping them in the pool for a little cleaning

benji (see foto above, he's 100% like his human shocky, both annoying as **** & loveable): hey, slow down there big guy, what's up with the grass clippings?...did you go on a lucky leash hike without us?...did you get lost?

shocky: benji, this morning's yoga class wuz for humans, not doggys, sorry

benji (sniffing everything like a maniac): what, i don't believe you...who would not wanna include me?...plus this grass is very suspicious with its high fertilizer content and no doggy pee smells, is this grass from uranus or something?

beauty (benji's tiny black furball sister, just rescued/adopted her, couldn't split them up forever): relax benji, daddy can take us for a walk now before his bears game

misty mae (an oldy but goody): hey, stella & mugsy (the cats) ate part of my breakfast!

shocky: ay caramba, where's the lucky leashes?

who saved who?#

conversation with the doggys after our morning mountain hike a couple of minutes ago, a successful venture with no cacti in our paws

benji: hey big guy, how come i'm not invited to noon yoga, what about me?

shocky: benji, what would you even do at class?

benji: well, for starters i would warmly greet everyone & make sure they had plenty of water in their dishes

beauty: benji, be nice to daddy, we can do yoga in the backyard while he's gone, ok?

benji: beauty, that's not the same thing!

misty mae: hey, when you guys are done talking about this stupid yoga can we get some breakfast served around here?

shocky: look, benji, yoga classes are for humans but i'll tell you what, next time we do an afternoon nap you can be the sofa king & get first choice on the cloud

benji (leaping up in excitement): yes!!!

stella & mugsy (licking their paws & shaking their heads from their perches on the kitchen counter): can u believe this ****?

doggy drama with scrappy doo#

benji update: his dad teed off at 6:00 am this morning as a single & walked 18 holes finishing around 8:30 am...when reaching the par 5 18th green the greens agronomy staff wuz rolling the green so shocky started to pick up his ball to call it a round when they all hopped off their mowers & with big smiles tole me to putt out...so shocky rolled in a 35 foot double breaking birdie putt which made him smile as they enthusiastically clapped

get home & while cleaning my clubs/grassy shoes in the garage benji unlike the rest of the pack hops in my wheels & won't get out...every rescue dog i've ever had has been kinda afraid of cars, that means ur going to the pound or something

anyways benji goes with me on my errands & we roll down the top so we can both feel the breeze on our faces while his tail wags uncontrollably...and benji gets a mini steak bone treat at the drive thru cleaners from kai who also tells benji he's such a good boy!!!

benji's 100% happiness is a reminder that it's the SMALL things in life that make our time on planet earth so special & to be treasured

yeah shocky would be really happy/get a GLIMMER this saturday nite if coach bloesch would just scheme jaydn ott & THE JET!!!! on the edges in wide open space so they're OFF TO THE RACES (which is more fun that running into telephone poles) via ******* PITCHOUTS!!!!!!!

a wrinkle in time (the best 5 minutes of the day)#
shocky is traveling to la today for biz & is kinda grumpy azz because there's too much time consuming **** to deal with that precludes playing golf too, ay caramba just kill me already

princess courtney (kinda blank look): huh, wut did u say?

shocky: r we gonna get any glimmers?

princess courtney: is that the name of a band??

fun fact: even the best yoga teachers & their dumb azz t-rex students are NOT perfect and that's ok it's our imperfections (failed rambling off point shavanasa speeches about dinosaurs) that make us attractive/interesting to others

I really envy you guys who still love to play. I've found the desire to practice again but my game is so ****ty that playing just isn't that enticing for me. My friends and son don't understand. I've been trying to find an analogy. How about this: it's like taking a test knowing you aren't ready and are going to fail. Here's my recent example: I played in my yearly round at Lincoln in SF for a deceased high school golf teammate. I had to cheat (friendly round so no one cared) to break 90. I used to shoot par and better at this place 50 years ago. I just can't see going out on the courses you guys play and ruining the round for my playing partners as I ***** and moan my way to 100. ASU, LOL. How's their twitter game?

My fav ASU story: Had a high school student about a dozen years ago. Not dumb and a nice kid, but totally lazy. I mean "actively lazy", where he would spend time planning on how to do as little work as possible. He was in my class as a junior and we had a visit or something where we found out that ASU had no grade requirements for entrance. Everybody gets in! Well, this student immediately set his sights on becoming a Sun Devil, carefully calculating how he could get "C"s and "D"s through HS graduation (so as to not spend unneeded effort studying).

Fast forward to spring, his senior year, when I run into him on campus:
Me: "Hey, looking forward to Arizona State in the fall?"
Him: "Naw, man... "
Me: "What do you mean, 'Naw, man... '. This was your dream school!"
Him: "Yeah, but I didn't get my application in on time... "

Bears tied for second low round and finished 3rd due to the weak 1st round. Hard to make-up strokes on what is a relatively easy track for college players.
