What is different than Cal, is Utah actually has great football attendance, high TV ratings and decent basketball attendance. Cal appears to be taking a Stanford approach of maintaining all its sports programs and attempting endow all non-revenue sports while increasing funding for the revenue sports. This raises the issue if non-revenue sports are cannibalizing money that might otherwise go to the revenue sports to be more competitive. yeah it's all a matter of priorities in the cal athletic department which clearly has no plans to balance the budget/rightsize the # of sport teams under the current failed administration which includes the chancellor
