The Nebraska fans were so loud that Boller had to call a TO as we were driving towards the south endzone!

I invite all Auburn fans to visit our lovely People's Park while you're here. Apparently, we have some rare, native species of plants flourishing there.
Future ultra woke Cal students will demand the university rename itself and the city and will be socially conscious enough to ask the state to return the stolen land back to indigenous peoples. By then, all instruction will be 100% online conducted by AI platforms.
Being woke means you know this is all stolen Native land and that mass genocide was committed by colonizers in order to steal the land. Being woke doesn't mean you think that stolen land will magically return to the hands of the Native tribes or that meaningless marches and rallies with signs will change anything. Whatever complaint you have about the politics of intelligent educated students gets undermined by your weird attempt at inventing the meaning of the word woke to fit your personal opinions.
It sounds like you two have different definitions of the word woke. Perhaps you should continue this on off-topic as others have kindly pointed out. In short, get the faq out of here with this nonsense.

somebody posted this SEC link in another thread that really captures how salty SEC folks get about losing to Cal/Berkeley. It seems they feel the outcome is more them losing than getting their asses beat by Cal.
I didn't see anything crazy there.

Its pretty hard to take these guys seriously when they don't even know what the final score of the Cal - North Texas game is. That fact makes me question their credibility and professionalism.BearHunter said:

I thought it was lame. Misinformation passed off as fact, repetitive with 2/3 of the airtime wasted. They think Auburn is going to win. Whoop dee doo. They think the Pac 12 is weaker than the SEC. Great insight, fellas.
Same here. I am going to have to take a nap or something on Saturday because 930 pm Central Kickoff is going to push this game past my bedtime.bearsandgiants said:

Granted, the Cornhuskers had gone 60-3 (woah!) over the previous 5 seasons and won 3 of the previous 4 national championships, so Nebraska was at the height of its powers. Plus, Nebraska always travels well. But yeah, that was an absolute sea of red across both ends of Memorial Stadium.udaman1 said:
I've never seen anything like that Nebraska game in Memorial in '98 in terms of visiting fans. It felt like it was 60-40 Neb - Cal
You correct about the handle. Graduate of EKU (BA and MS) and sent 4 kids to Auburn either undergrad or grad or both.. But, I have been an Auburn fan since 1974. The doggies next door to us are also beyond imagination in terms of behavior. Looking forward to you all coming to the Southeast in 2024. I live in about 45 minutes away and will welcome all well behaved Bears to my tailgate next year.BearBoarBlarney said:Welcome, AUEKU. Don't worry about bedtime. With respect to your handle... you a fan of Auburn U and Eastern Kentucky U?
Finally, I have to give some kudos to Auburn grads and fans. You guys don't have it easy having to share a state with the Gumps.

Auburn fan here. I was a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years before the wife and I gave them up. I can tell you that if you come to Auburn next year you will have the best game day experience possible. You will be wined and dined and generally made to feel like family. (Unless you are wearing turd - I mean tide paraphernalia).
Wear your Cal colors and wade into the tailgate scene, you will be greeted and made to feel like long lost family. Want a drink? Sure! something to eat? Absolutely! Will you find obnoxious fans? A few.
Many Auburn fans will stake out their tailgate spots early, and most gamedays there are as many people at the tailgates during the game as there are in the stands.
Auburn folk consider themselves family and will take you into the fold without reservations. I will say that you will get out of it what you put into it, so go with the flow.
Get to the stadium early. There are lots of things you will want to see. The Band meeting at the "4 corners" just before "Tiger Walk" ( 20,000 people lining the street from the Football complex to the stadium just to say hello to the players and coaches), The Eagle flight (normally released from the flagpole area on the upper concourse) around the stadium - 15 minutes before kickoff, landing on the 50 yard line, and the AU marching band "taking the field" for the pregame.
Win or lose enjoy yourself, and IF Auburn does win the game, head to Toomers corner to roll the trees.
Don't just take my word for it though, come on down.

I'd love to make the trip to Auburn! You may be a tiny bit surprised by how many of us come (ask Ole Miss or Tenessee fans).
As far as the game, sure any Auburn fans and most all objective observers are picking the Tigers on Saturday. That makes sense. To me, the key will be our QB play (whoever it ends up being): With limited turnovers and at least a credible passing game, the game should be close. A Cal win would be an upset, but not a huge one.
May the best team win!
As I have gotten older I have become a lot more laid back about sports. My focus is now on all players to play to the best of their ability, and no injuries.

An under looked aspect with Auburn is that while their recent past is not great, there was significant portal turnover. They had the 4th or 5th best transfer portal ranking that takes into account the additions and deletions. Cal was like 25th.
With the new coach and new players, I think it is a mistake to think this is "not the Auburn of old." They are probably closer to that than they are to the last few years.
Nice, but their analysis isn't any different from the chuckleheads in the video, Lee and Gilmer. Vague notions about superior talent in the SEC, yada yada yada, and bobs your uncle.AUEKU said:
Auburn fan and long-time season ticket holder here. In fairness, that site that was used is not what most of us serious fans would consider top tier. The two most serious fan sites are rivals and 24/7. Let me say this, neither one of them are saying this game is going to get ugly quick.
This is from Jason Caldwell from Auburn 24/7:
"The competition level steps up dramatically this week for Deal and the Tigers versus a Cal defense that was strong in its opening win over North Texas. After allowing a pair of 75-yard touchdown drives as part of a 21-point first half, the Bears were dominant in the final 30 minutes against the Mean Green. North Texas had the ball six times in the second half, managing just 19 total yards and no first downs."
However, most believe Auburn will win in a close game. From behind the pay wall here is the 24/7 Auburn predictions for the game:
AUBURN @ CAL (+5.5)(Kyle Okita, 247Sports)
Matthew Wallace: "It's hard to blame Hugh Freeze for not liking the trip out west and, if the first week is any indication, Cal poses a tough test for the Tigers. The Bears gave up 41 yards on the ground last week, so it should be a good test for the Tigers' run game, which put up 289 rush yards against UMass. The Tigers passed for only 203 yards last week, the fewest among SEC teams, in a game they had in control from the second quarter. Auburn will likely need Payton Thorne to showcase his arm late in the game to lead the team against a team that allowed nine second-half yards against North Texas.
"Despite a 669-yard offensive day, Cal gave up six quarterback hurries against North Texas and six tackles for loss, though the Bears did not allow a sack. If Auburn's defense, which had six quarterback hurries and three sacks against UMass, can get to the quarterback and limit missed tackles, Thorne's arm should be enough to lead the Tigers to victory."
Auburn 38, Cal 28
Phillip Marshall: "Auburn has better players and more of them. At least, I believe that to be true. The extremely long trip is a wild card. Will it affect how Auburn plays. How will the new faces react before a sellout crowd on the road?
"I have been back and forth on this game, but in the end, I decided to go with the heavy artillery."
Auburn 37, Cal 31
Jason Caldwell: "This is a really interesting early season test for Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers. We have a little bit of an idea of what this team is all about, but there is so much left that we haven't seen from them on offense and defense. How much of that shows up this week and can Auburn execute? That's the biggest question for me heading into week two. Can Auburn make plays in the passing game and can the Tigers slow down a strong Cal running game? If they can do those things, I like the chances of going on the road and getting a victory.
"If Auburn can avoid turnovers and can create negative plays on defense, I think it's a 2-0 start for the Freeze era. I think they do just enough of that to win."
Auburn 31, Cal 27
Nathan King: "Auburn showed promise and executed on both sides of the ball, and taking care of business in the first game under a new head coach should never be undervalued. But I also have question marks about the consistency of the Tigers' passing game, and their defense against an explosive Golden Bears rushing attack. I would be surprised if Cal isn't able to run the ball effectively Saturday night, and that means Auburn has to score some points. Payton Thorne should be well protected, and if we're led to believe Auburn didn't open up the passing game much in the season opener, the Tigers need to execute in that regard.
"I've said all offseason Auburn will win this game, and I didn't see enough in Week 1 to sway my opinion too far the other way though I am very impressed with Cal, which should be an improved team in 2023. I think Thorne and Freeze will have the passing game humming more efficiently, and the Tigers should be able to keep pace with a strong rushing attack of their own. This should, however, be a very close game. Color me impressed if Auburn is able to go across the country in a strange body-clock game and beat an improved Power Five team in its home opener."
Auburn 34, Cal 31
Christian Clemente: "Throughout the whole offseason I said this will be a four-quarter game that Auburn controls but never really pulls away in. I'm sticking with that. There's nothing from Auburn's matchup with UMass or Cal playing North Texas that changed my mind.
"We knew Auburn's run defense was shaky, and that was on display at times against UMass. Cal will consistently be in the game enough to run Jaydn Ott and Montana State legend Isaiah Ifanse as the primary offense, while either Sam Jackson or Ben Finley gets the nod at quarterback. It'll be close the whole way, with plenty for Auburn still to figure out, but the Tigers are just the superior, more talented team and figure it out in a close win."
Auburn 30, Cal 24
Phillip Dukes: "Auburn started the season with a dominant performance over UMass. Ron Roberts' attacking defense created turnovers and points as well. The important factor in the way Roberts attacks is that he does so much from the perimeter. Generating pressure from the line of scrimmage is important especially when it comes to teams who run the ball well. California ran the ball really well last week and look to do the same this week. Cal tailback Jaydn Ott ran for 188 yards against North Texas and is a very balanced runner boasting a combination of speed and power. Auburn will need to get bigger bodies on him at first contact and not just secondary players.
"That being said, I think Auburn plays good assignment football this week, the offense opens up a little more and they win comfortably."
Auburn 41, Cal 24
Ronnie Sanders: "This one should be a little more trouble for Auburn than last week's walk against UMass. There's the long trip out west (get ready B1G), a Cal team that has some skill and the very late kick. The Cal offense was impressive last week … against North Texas. The Bears look improved over 2022, but it was only Week 1. We'll know more about both teams after Saturday, but look for Auburn to step up and take care of business.
"This is still PaC-12 vs. SEC and Auburn vs. Cal after all."
Auburn 42, Cal 31

Thanks for stopping by. This description sounds almost exactly like what my family experienced at The Grove before the Ole Miss game. It was an astoundingly good time, and everyone treated us so great. I really hope that the Auburn fans traveling to Cal this weekend come away with the same types of feelings, though we really don't have that type of tailgate scene just given the logistical challenges of the campus and surrounding areas.Rob$AU said:
