Auburn fan and long-time season ticket holder here. In fairness, that site that was used is not what most of us serious fans would consider top tier. The two most serious fan sites are rivals and 24/7. Let me say this, neither one of them are saying this game is going to get ugly quick.

Granted, the Cornhuskers had gone 60-3 (woah!) over the previous 5 seasons and won 3 of the previous 4 national championships, so Nebraska was at the height of its powers. Plus, Nebraska always travels well. But yeah, that was an absolute sea of red across both ends of Memorial Stadium.

You correct about the handle. Graduate of EKU (BA and MS) and sent 4 kids to Auburn either undergrad or grad or both.. But, I have been an Auburn fan since 1974. The doggies next door to us are also beyond imagination in terms of behavior. Looking forward to you all coming to the Southeast in 2024. I live in about 45 minutes away and will welcome all well behaved Bears to my tailgate next year.

I will just adjust my drinking schedule Saturday to make sure I am good to go. It should be a good contest and an interesting match up.

Wear your Cal colors and wade into the tailgate scene, you will be greeted and made to feel like long lost family. Want a drink? Sure! something to eat? Absolutely! Will you find obnoxious fans? A few.

Many Auburn fans will stake out their tailgate spots early, and most gamedays there are as many people at the tailgates during the game as there are in the stands.

Auburn folk consider themselves family and will take you into the fold without reservations. I will say that you will get out of it what you put into it, so go with the flow.

Get to the stadium early. There are lots of things you will want to see. The Band meeting at the "4 corners" just before "Tiger Walk" ( 20,000 people lining the street from the Football complex to the stadium just to say hello to the players and coaches), The Eagle flight (normally released from the flagpole area on the upper concourse) around the stadium - 15 minutes before kickoff, landing on the 50 yard line, and the AU marching band "taking the field" for the pregame.

Win or lose enjoy yourself, and IF Auburn does win the game, head to Toomers corner to roll the trees.

As far as the game, sure any Auburn fans and most all objective observers are picking the Tigers on Saturday. That makes sense. To me, the key will be our QB play (whoever it ends up being): With limited turnovers and at least a credible passing game, the game should be close. A Cal win would be an upset, but not a huge one.

As I have gotten older I have become a lot more laid back about sports. My focus is now on all players to play to the best of their ability, and no injuries.

An under looked aspect with Auburn is that while their recent past is not great, there was significant portal turnover. They had the 4th or 5th best transfer portal ranking that takes into account the additions and deletions. Cal was like 25th.

With the new coach and new players, I think it is a mistake to think this is "not the Auburn of old." They are probably closer to that than they are to the last few years.

Nice, but their analysis isn't any different from the chuckleheads in the video, Lee and Gilmer. Vague notions about superior talent in the SEC, yada yada yada, and bobs your uncle.

tbh, not sure why that analysis is behind a pay wall. I saw a better break down in one of the free threads here, where someone explained that Freeze's offense of dink and dunk, runs straight into the teeth of the Cal defense. Auburns big bodies trying to lurk because they aren't fast will struggle. Auburn will be hoping Sam isn't starting at QB.

Auburn didn't show anything special with its receivers, as the video said they don't have explosive receivers with game breaking speed. None of these paywall guys got into that, just hoping that Thorne's arm can beat a faster defense.

Auburn fan here. I was a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years before the wife and I gave them up. I can tell you that if you come to Auburn next year you will have the best game day experience possible. You will be wined and dined and generally made to feel like family. (Unless you are wearing turd - I mean tide paraphernalia).

Wear your Cal colors and wade into the tailgate scene, you will be greeted and made to feel like long lost family. Want a drink? Sure! something to eat? Absolutely! Will you find obnoxious fans? A few.

Many Auburn fans will stake out their tailgate spots early, and most gamedays there are as many people at the tailgates during the game as there are in the stands.

Auburn folk consider themselves family and will take you into the fold without reservations. I will say that you will get out of it what you put into it, so go with the flow.

Get to the stadium early. There are lots of things you will want to see. The Band meeting at the "4 corners" just before "Tiger Walk" ( 20,000 people lining the street from the Football complex to the stadium just to say hello to the players and coaches), The Eagle flight (normally released from the flagpole area on the upper concourse) around the stadium - 15 minutes before kickoff, landing on the 50 yard line, and the AU marching band "taking the field" for the pregame.

Win or lose enjoy yourself, and IF Auburn does win the game, head to Toomers corner to roll the trees.

Thanks for stopping by. This description sounds almost exactly like what my family experienced at The Grove before the Ole Miss game. It was an astoundingly good time, and everyone treated us so great. I really hope that the Auburn fans traveling to Cal this weekend come away with the same types of feelings, though we really don't have that type of tailgate scene just given the logistical challenges of the campus and surrounding areas.

I wasn't currently planning to travel to the Auburn game next year, but I'm starting to feel like it will be a "can't miss" event - and that's even before the first game this weekend.

Great to see the Auburn fans checking in and sharing their perspective.

Candidly, I have no idea what to expect with this game. Both teams made a ton of changes in the offseason and faced teams last week that were far less talented.

I think Auburn has an advantage in the trenches (in terms of size, if not talent) and perhaps a slightly more talented roster overall. But Cal is playing at home and has the advantage of a lot of continuity and talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Teams seem evenly matched which should mean a close Cal victory as the home team. However, a lot depends on if Jackson can play. Cal projects to be a better team with him than Finley but we really don't know. Ott should be able to gash Auburn.

Will either team score over 40 or will the winner be the first to 30? Can Cal clean up the kicking game? UNT did score 21 in a half against Cal. A repeat of that gets us beat against Auburn.

I am saying Cal wins the game 29-28 as neither team breaks 30.
